"Who did you say that you are?"a sweet female voice.Ratan had not heard a women speak to him for exactly four years and three months.She was lovely with a white colored saree being worn in the north Indian style,the border of which had a peacock blue leaves.Her color just matching to that of the running streams a square cut face,eyes blue as the sky,the stand was like a pride filled lioness.One second Ratan had to control himself against the beauty she had,then again Ratan answered clearly"I'm Ratan...the same one who had made it in papers for the work on 'start of the civilization'"a ray of hope began to shine in Ratan's mind.
After giving a close look she said"Inspector I think i know him"her eyes as if penetrating into that of Ratan's.Ratan was about to get up from the chair in which he was made to sit for hours when suddenly she continued"Let him get cleaned up first!!"Ratan then realized how odd he might be looking.Inspector quickly signaled the constable who almost dragged Ratan out into a public bathroom.

One hour later Ratan returned back in front of the Inspector and the lovely lady.Ratan was looking stunning just as he was during his college days.The loss of few kilos was actually making him look smarter,the clean shaven face and the rugged face was just matching his old yet strong kurta which at once was seen on the ladies face.Her face lit up as if seeing what she wanted!
"I do know him inspector"she said "He was the one for whom i had come for!!"she was completely happy.Ratan was amused on hearing this neither his parents nor his friends had come in search of him, then why this stranger? he thought but at the movement he just wanted to get out of the police station so he remained silent looking at the charming lady.
The Inspector took out a photo from his drawer and compared it with Ratan,"o.k"he said after a minute "You are a government official and I shall leave him at your will and risk" inspector handed over a few papers to which the lady signed.Both Ratan and the lady walked out of the police station without a word with each other.As soon as the lady came out a well maintained sedan car came to her she turned to Ratan and said "Follow me"and sat inside the car.Ratan followed as he had no choice the old kurta was not comforting the lady,she turned to the driver and asked him to stop by for shopping a few things for Ratan.

The four hour shopping had given Ratan his old look.The lady also arranged a special room at a star motel near by and Ratan was now fresh as ever after the overnight sleep.He however had not forgotten to offer his rituals to the LINGAM with fresh water as he usually did with fresh water from river Ganga the earlier day because without doing it he never felt comfortable.the morning breakfast was served and Ratan was now waiting for the lady to arrive as she had told him the day earlier as she left him in the room that she would see him the next day at 9am.
The clock just showed 9 that there was a bell at the door.Ratan who was dressed in a white suit and polished leather shoes went and answered the call.It was the lady as she had told.She now looked even more gorgeous with a pink saree and a small hand bag matching her dress."Please come in.."Ratan gestured but the lady just walked in as if into her own home and sat on the sofa in the lounge.
'Look Dr.Ratan..."she was giving a strong look"I have in no way any personal interest in you"she stopped for a movement watching Ratan's face turning a little pale,she continued"I am a geologist at the government geological center Delhi..'she signaled Ratan to sit on the sofa which he obeyed,she continued"We received a serious information from our fellow mates of America that the poles of the Globe which is actually holding the Earth in its axis is slowly slipping away.."she looked into the eyes of Ratan which showed no signs of change,then said"...the movement of the poles as you may conclude is the end of the WORLD!!"she got up from her seat and moved towards the large window and moved the curtains from where he could see the sun in the sky burning bright as usual.
"Do you notice any thing Doctor?"the lady asked
"What?"Ratan wasn't sure
"Its 9 am in the month of November,the sun has to be to be towards the meridian at this part of the globe"she was to continue but Ratan interrupted
"YES!! I see its almost outside the longitudinal imaginary line that passes this place" it was not really that very clear if not observed properly but Ratan was quite sure that the lady had some point in her work.
"True Doctor.."there was smile in her thick lips
"You can call me Ratan"he added
"By the by I am Ms Maya.."she held out her hand and both shook hand formally
"I am still not clear why you came looking for me?"Ratan asked
"I am about to tell you that but first you will have to take some courage.."she paused for a second and then continued"...the reports from America were confirmed and we had few round of talks as well,they didn't want the public to know that the end is coming however we didn't leave even one stone unturned and kept seeking ideas in form of competitions and general debate to come out with an answer to this horrible question of nature"she was feeling weak,weak in front of Nature that the man had made misuse of and now it was about to take revenge.
Ratan knew that even a few more inches of drift will cause dangerous kinds of earth movements which might just make people fly off into the sky or make many buildings come down to dust,the water may just fly off or may just get sucked in,there might not be enough air to breathe or even sun might not be visible to many parts of the Globe leading to many calamities which cannot even be imagined.Maya saw the change of colors in Ratan and then said on"..it was then that our researchers came across your theory regarding the starting of civilization which was entirely different from others.."she looked at Ratan who was hearing her as a student"..you had stated that the birth of living beings didn't happen from revolution instead you concluded that there were species of all kinds brought to earth together by a meteor which had created Earth and man developed as from bisexual beings to bisexuals and not from Apes."
Ratan continued "It is true to its least detail.."there was a passion in his statement as he had dedicated his life to his profession"..i used the contexts of ARDA NARISHWARA(a representation of male and female body in the same being)the old classics which did say that all life forms evolved at the same time when the last end of Earth had happened."
"Yes sure it did create great vibes..it was then decided that we go by your rules and find the jest of where the life really began so that we could hold the life at that place"she ended
"But how did you know that i was here?"Ratan asked knowing that he was important now.
"No we didn't"she said with a look of satisfaction"..we first went to your home at Bangalore where we found out that your parents were dead!!"
"DEAD??"Ratan was taken unguarded
"YES immediately as you left for Himalayas and there was news broadcasted that a heavy snowfall in Himalayas had killed many and also since there was no sign of you during the time your father suffered a major heart attack and died;Mother was also bed ridden for a few months and later even she died at the hospital"as Maya looked to Ratan he was just staring the empty space from his sofa DEATH had taken away many things from him,now he had no one else to blame but himself.
"I would have given you more time if not for this emergency"Maya had to interrupt"we kept looking for your body which we didn't find so i was left here to see if i can find you dead or alive."she breathed a sign of relief"...we are happy that we found you alive!!"
The Himalayas had made Ratan strong enough to come out of the grief as he had to save the Earth to justify the deaths of his parents or otherwise the quest for more wouldn't serve its part.
"I shall call upon you in the evening,government has asked us to carry out our plans as there are a number of teams working on the same issue.It will supply all our needs but we have to succeed"not waiting for the reply Maya made out of the room.
Ratan sat for a while thinking of his childhood and days he had spent with his parents,their love..affection kept coming to him,but still he had this doubt was he worth to save the world??He closed his eyes and began to concentrate..the sage;many months of yoga;rituals;LINGAM;rare herbs;death of the sage;his last words do they all lead to something?? The five words he jotted down on a piece of paper

"ITS DECEMBER 21!!"she replied
"That's exactly one month.."Ratan was almost on his toes but didn't really know what to do,"Look i need a hand here"he said to Maya "you are a geologist and how much Sanskrit may you know?I want someone who knows the language in and out"it was almost an order.
"Its then me..."Maya told hastily "I have a masters degree in the language as well"
Ratan looked at her with pride and sitting down told his story after the snow fall.

"Is there anyone else who is trying to end the world acting against us?Ratan asked
Turning around slowly as if to say a secret she whispered "Its top secret however people say that there is one community which wants the world to end as its the will of GOD"
Ratan was now sure that the community had found him earlier to Maya and hence wanted something from him which can save the world but what?this
