The plan that my sister and I had was not very clever or very well thought through. We were going to sneak out the window and run to our aunt's house. The only problem was we didnโt know the way. All we knew was that we would have to head West to get there. I realized that we might need help, but when I went to grab my phone, I remembered that my father took it. I opened the door quietly and saw my phone sitting on the table. I snuck through the door and walked furtively over to the table, careful not to wake my sleeping father on the couch. I grabbed my phone and walked silently back into the bedroom. I grabbed my backpack and started opening the window when I realized we had no food to eat. Me and my sister grabbed our backpacks and walked into the kitchen. We grabbed canned food, peanuts, apples, and some water. We walked back into the room and walked over to the window. I made sure I locked the bedroom door, and climbed carefully out the window. Once I was on the other side, I helped my sister out and we started walking.
We walked through the woods on the right side of the loud highway. I could not believe I was doing this. I have thought about it many times, but I have never had enough courage to do it. The fact that it was extremely dangerous and I had decided to bring my sister with me was even worse. I didnโt know if I would be able to keep her safe, or if I would even be able to keep myself safe.
My sister wasnโt the strongest person I knew, but she was very smart. Sheโs tall, has beautiful blond curls, and she has ocean blue eyes. I too have ocean blue eyes, but my hair was straighter with only a little wave underneath. My hair was also blond, and I was short but pretty strong for my age. I work out and stay fit by working out at the gym and running in the morning. My dad used to work out and stay fit, but after he started to get lazy and is very unhealthy.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard my sister say my name in a soft voice. We have only been walking for about 30 minutes, but it felt like 10 hours. When I looked at my sister, she talked in a very soft tone.
โWhere are we?โ she asked. The truth was that I didnโt know. I had stopped hearing the cars passing and I couldnโt see the highway.
โIโฆ...I donโt know.โ I replied in a soft tone. I could tell that she was getting worried. The fact that we were lost and didnโt know where we were going was really bad. Worry crept along the bottom of my stomach as we continued to walk through the dark woods.
โWe will be ok.โ I said in a comforting tone, even though even I didnโt know if I believed the words that had just come out of my mouth. I didnโt the worry I felt show to my sister because I didnโt want her to worry anymore. We continued to walk as the cold wind crept through my clothing and stung my skin. I could see my sister start to shiver and I gave her my winter jacket that I had brought, considering the fact that it would be cold at night. As we walked, the sky grew darker and the air began to get frigid. And I could hear the crunch of leaves under my feet. The sky was a variety of colors from orange and pink to hues of blue and violet. I saw the sky darken and I felt cold water sprinkle down from the sky. The light sprinkle turned into a storm as the cold rain stung my bare skin, and lightning cracked angrily across the sky. The harsh wind was blowing faster by the minute and we decided to make a small shelter to sleep in.
We walked farther into the woods, collecting sticks, branches, and other things that we could use to make shelter. As we looked through the dark forest, we saw a fallen tree and propped the cold, wet sticks against it. We covered the ground and sides of the shelter with leaves and brush. I found some large rocks and aligned them in the shape of a circle. I started rubbing sticks together like they did in movies, trying to get them to start on fire. But unlike in the movies, there was no fire. I crawled into the small shelter where I saw my sister had laid out my jacked, and she had changed into dry clothing. I looked in my backpack and grabbed my sister and me both a granola bar and we ate in silence as the rain pelted down around us. We could hear the thunder crack across the sky and we could feel the wet ground vibrate below us. I rolled over and closed my eyes and tried to sleep, but the thunder was too loud to tune out. I laid there thinking about what was going to happen to me and my sister. I knew that it was dangerous to bring my sister with me, but I didnโt want to leave her with our dad.
The rain slowed down a little bit later that night and I finally drifted off to sleep.
When I woke up, I was careful not to wake up my sister. I walked around the forest looking for something to eat, because I didnโt want to waste the food that I brought with me. It was hard to find any food because the weather was getting colder. I managed to find an apple tree with a few apples. As I was walking back, my sister was sitting on a rock waiting for me. I handed her an apple and we sat there in the silence of the woods and ate one of our apples. I looked around for the first time and realized that I never noticed how beautiful it was out in nature.
Once we finished eating, we gathered our stuff and started walking the way the sun came up, I learned from the internet that means that we are going north. As we walked, we tried to listened to the the sounds of the wind blowing through the trees, the animals walking around in the distance, and the sound of our own footsteps. I would occasionally glance over at my sister to see of she was doing ok and then look back where I was going.
After walking for another hour me and my sister took a break, she of course was tired of walking. But to tell you the truth Iโm worn out myself. I start thinking that we won't make it anywhere at all. It's all lost hope. We could no longer hear the care and my sister is so cold. But the thought of seeing my dad is unbearable. As we walk to the sound of the wind and leaves crunching I hear something else. Water!
I run ahead and spot a river. Yes! And on the other side are lushas blueberry bushes. The river is only like 6 feet across we can make it. I drag my sister forward.
โNo! What if I fall in sissy?โ She screeches as she looks at the river.
โYou wonโt Iโll be here.โ
โOkay.โ She says giving up to the pull of my hand. I pull us to the water and step in. The cold threatens to drag me down. But I hold steady focusing on the fruit.
We make it half way and we fall into the ice water. In the process I let go of her hand and I hear her let out a scream. I rush up and look around. Spotting the blue of my sisters jacket I run forward and pull her out of the water. Fear grips me as I drag her onto the beach. I start to do mouth to mouth and then feel her pulse. Nothing.
Her eyes stare to the sky and her skin is blue.
My life is over. The only thing I love is gone, I should be there to.
I run to the water and jump in. Feeling the cold I let myself go. My story is over along with my sisters.

This is the story of a friend, for me there will be no end. So this book is short as her life was. I wish the best to those who have had a thing happen to them like I have.
