Cassini sat in her room, going through her list on what to bring, the stuff strewn all over the floor.
"Boots? Check. Training outfit? Check. Clothes? Check. Daggers? Check. Human studies book. Check. Other stuff that I don't necessarily need but am packing? Check. Guess all I need to do now is pack it." She packed everything up in a bunch of bags and headed down stairs, putting them on the floor near the castle's doors. She had to make several trips as servants put the bags in a black carriage pulled by black horses with wings. After she was done bringing them down, Shard came and put other bags in the back of the carriage.
"Just some weapons. Nothing major." He said. Leo ran to the carriage and jumped in, sitting where Cassini was supposed to sit. She smiled at the Hellhound and hugged Shard.
"It's going to be strangely quiet around here without you Cassini." He said. Cassini smiled and walked to the carriage, pushing Leo over. She waved to Shard as the carriage set off towards the village.
When the carriage reached the village, Jasper was waiting outside. The carriage stopped and Jasper put his stuff in. He got in, sitting next to Leo. He nodded at her and she nodded back. They set off. Minutes later, Cassini marveled at the buildings outside.
"That's the Capitol building Cass. We're in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania." Jasper said. Cassini just nodded.
"Where do you want to go Cass?" Jasper asked, turning his head towards her. Cassini tried to remember places she learned in her Human Studies class.
"Umm...New York?" It was more of a question than an answer.
"Okay." Jasper nodded. He told the carriage driver and Cassini stared out the window. She noticed the clothes that the people wore. Their clothes and Cassini's were a lot different. They didn't even look at the carriage rolling by. Glamor, Cassini thought. The carriage lurched to the left and Cassini fell onto Jasper. He caught her easily.
"Thanks. They should really put seat belts it these." She scooted back to where she was sitting and Jasper smiled at her.
"What?" Cassini asked him.
"Nothing. It's just that...never mind." Cassini looked back out the window. The scenery changed. The buildings were taller and there was more people along the streets.
"Welcome to New York!" Jasper said, smiling. Cassini smiled back and nodded, speechless. Portals, very useful for quick travel. Cassini thought. They took back roads and ended up in front of a huge mansion. The carriage stopped abruptly and Cassini's head banged against the seat.
"Stupid carriage driver." She hissed. She got out of the carriage and gawked at the building in front of her.
"Nice right?" Cassini jumped at the voice, turning around.
"Damn you Jasper!" Cassini said.
"Too late. I'm already damned." He smirked at her and she punched his arm. He stifled a laugh. Cassini walked up to the grand doors and pulled it open. Inside there was a fountain and a grand staircase. She stood there, mouth open, as servants rushed down to get the bags. Jasper laughed, walking up behind Cassini.
"H...how...?" Cassini stuttered.
"Let's just say I know a guy." Jasper smiled. He walked up the grand staircase and Cassini followed him. He stopped in front of a door and opened it.
"This," he walked in, "is your room." The room was painted a gold color and the carpets were a deep purple. It was very large with a walk-in closet and its own bathroom.
"Get settled in and I'll meet you downstairs for dinner." Jasper smiled and walked out of her room, closing the door behind him. Servants brought her bags up and she unpacked. She hung her clothes in the closet, put stuff in her bathroom, and hid her daggers under her bed. She sat down on the bed and looked at everything. This is way bigger than my room. She thought. Cassini changed and went downstairs to eat. Having no clue where she was going, Cassini passed many doors and finally found the dining room. The table was set for two. Cassini sat down and waited for Jasper. He came in and sat down. They ate and Cassini went back to her room. Cassini turned off her laptop and fell asleep.
Cassini woke up the next morning to Leo barking at her. She walked downstairs.
"Morning Cass. Today's our first mission. There's some rogue vampires that we need to take care of off Broadway."
"Gotcha. I'm gonna go change."
