After running for five minutes, they found Vicious’ lair. A large empty colosseum stood in the middle of the cave. An orc four times the size of the knight wielding a broadsword, with nasty scars staining its face, emitted another roar.

“Kill,” the knight muttered.

Episode Ten "Awakening"

Vicious detected the presence and swung at them. The attack forced the group to split up, running in four different directions. The attack damaged the tunnel that they came out of but it didn't collapse.

The knight ran around to flank Vicious while the others, except Rain, took the orc head-on. Roxie trained her light skill to achieve maximum output. Fortunately, the training was worth it.

She activated Holy Light and cast it on her dagger, forming a yellow tint barrier over it. She dashed towards Vicious and slashed at his feet. Vicious felt little damage. He kicked Roxie away before focusing on Zedo---who jumped on his arm and was headed towards Vicious’ head. Vicious slammed his arm on the floor, off-putting Zedo’s balance and knocking him off. He fell on the floor, temporarily knocking the wind out of him.

Rain kept her distance from Vicious, drawing her bow and firing an onslaught of arrows at him. The arrows were enhanced by her skill Wind Arrows---which increased the arrows' velocity. Rain continued firing from a distance, not risking her life by attacking head-on. Vicious wasn’t fond of what he considered a “cowardly” tactic. He raised his broadsword---using it as a spear---and launched it at her. Rain darted away from the attack, the sword nicking her. Vicious brandished a dagger and nearly launched it at Rain, but the knight intercepted the attack. He slashed Vicious’ Achilles heel, crippling Vicious. Vicious fell over, nearly crushing Zedo in the process. The knight went to work on Vicious’ feet and lower body, slashing it to shreds. However, Vicious wasn’t going down easily. He turned around and threw the dagger at the knight. The knight put his sword in front of him to block the attack. Unfortunately, the lighter sword that the knight chose couldn’t completely block the attack. If he had stuck with the broadsword, he would have the chance to block the attack. Instead, the attack pierced the armor and threw him backward. The knight collided with the wall---feeling like he was slammed into the concrete. Blood spurted out of the mouth opening of his helmet.

Roxie picked herself up and watched as her master flew into the wall. She watched as he spurted blood out. She never expected the strong and independent master of her's to be gurgling up blood. The knight tried picking himself up, but the impact damaged his organs. He crumbled to his knees as blood flooded out of his helmet. Roxie---now fuming and enraged---charged towards Vicious. Vicious tried to pick himself up, but the slash to his Achilles heel prevented him from doing so. He glanced to his side and noticed Roxie’s charge. He rolled his eyes as she neared. He intended to flick her away but was unsuccessful. As she charged, her wings extended to its normal length, empowering her. Her eyes became silver, something that didn’t happen during the forced awakening.

Her dagger was enhanced tenfold by her awakening. Now stronger, Roxie jumped on top of Vicious’ hideous face and plunged her dagger in his eyes. She quickly blinded him before slashing his arms and stomach. He roared in pain---his anguish ignored by the group.

Roxie was blood-hungry, slowly torturing Vicious with no remorse. Opposite of what an angel was depicted as. Instead of honest and pure, she was a bloodthirsty and terrifying beast. However, Zedo put her animal instincts to rest by bonking her on the head with the butt of his battle hammer. The small bonk laid her to rest. Now with her unconscious, Zedo focused his attention on the still living Vicious. “I’m sorry Roxie, but I need to kill him myself.” He muttered. He walked up to Vicious’ face. Vicious tried grabbing at Zedo, but Roxie slashed his arms to pieces, crippling him without defenses. “This is for my wife!” Zedo declared as he raised his battle hammer high into the air before dropping it. The battle hammer pounded on Vicious’ face, distorting it. Vicious wasn’t living anymore as his brain exploded from the battle hammer’s might. Zedo---proud and emotionful---dropped to his knees as tears streamed his cheeks.

Rain---the only person standing---dashed to the knight’s side and took his helmet off, revealing a badly burnt male with light blue eyes and messy black hair. His entire face was distorted by burn marks. Rain peeked at his body and noticed that his skin looked charred---almost like he was on borrowed time. She shook off any other intentions before pushing a healing potion into his mouth, assisting his recovery. She put the helmet back on him before laying him against the wall. She then turned around and climbed Vicious’s cold and lifeless body to pick up Roxie’s unconscious body. The effects of the awakening were still in effect. Her wings and silver eyes remained. She laid her against the wall next to the knight.

Meanwhile, Zedo picked himself up. He apologized to Rain for his unsightly actions. However, Rain didn’t utter a single complaint about it. Instead, she seemed sympathetic to him.

The group managed to defeat a demon general, Vicious: The Black Fist.

Episode Eleven "Aeryn"

The group ventured to the outside, passing the Alza drawings. Zedo stopped to pray for a moment before continuing through the winding and twisting tunnels.

After traveling for ten minutes, they discovered the exit and breached the outside. They gulped down fresh air and bathed themselves in the moonlight. Zedo laid the knight’s unconscious body against a tree. Rain did the same, sitting Roxie next to her master. “I can’t believe we’ve survived.”

“Shocked,” Rain muttered.

“Man, I can’t wait to go back and bask in the rewards. I have a tab I need to clear before I die.” Zedo said, laying on the grass. The dew forming on the grass relaxed Zedo’s strained muscles. Rain didn’t lay next to Zedo, instead, sitting down next to a large boulder. The carriage was some distance from them, but the driver never noticed their presence. He half-expected them to die in the cave.

“I wonder if you have time to relax?” An unfamiliar voice muttered from the shadows. Rain and Zedo jumped to her feet, brandishing their weapons. “A bow and hammer? Can those weapons kill an assassin?”

“An assassin? Dragon” Zedo asked, slightly trembling.

“Dragon?” Rain asked.

“Dragon? No, I’m Splice.”

“Oh, thank god,” Zedo said, lowering his weapon. “I thought we were challenging Dragon, not some random assassin.”

“Random assassin?” Splice muttered, clenching his fist. “I’m always compared to Dragon and Overseer. I can never escape their shadows. Fine, you dare to humiliate me like this.” He glared at them, his eyes turning red. “I’ll give you a slow and torturous death.” He was sitting in the trees, ten feet from them, using Air Dash to bounce off the branches and head towards them. Zedo picked his weapon up and swung wildly. Rain drew her bow and moved around in a circle, searching for Splice.

Meanwhile, the knight entered consciousness. The wound had healed and his blood continued flowing throughout his body. He woke up to a blurry site of Zedo and Rain pointing their weapons at an unknown individual. “Who?” He croaked. Zedo glanced over at the knight.

“There’s an assassin here! Get up and fight!” He ordered. The knight quickly got to his feet, brandishing his sword. However, Splice had reached him and pierced his armor. Splice plunged a dagger laced with poison through his armor and into the knight’s charred body. He then yanked the dagger out of the knight’s body and retreated into the shadows. The knight gurgled up more blood before collapsing to the ground, falling face first. Roxie managed to wake up to watch her master near death for the second time. She watched as blood spurted out of his body and stained the beautiful and luscious scenery.

“Master!” Roxie shouted, scrambling to his side. “Master!”

“Oh, damn! They got him!” Zedo shouted.

“He’s… dead?” Rain asked, freezing on the spot. She couldn’t move her muscles out of fear.

The knight reawoke, surrounded by trees. He didn’t have his helmet on or his charred skin. He was a handsome young man of twenty-three. He had tanned skin that resembled the color of hardwood. He stood at a height of 5’11, reaching six feet with his armor on. His messy black hair dangled in front of his eyes, forcing him to brush it to the side. His hair was unkempt and dirty. His light blue eyes reflected the sunlight, burning him if he stared at the sun for too long. While he stared at himself---unsure of what became of his charred skin---a woman dressed in white descended from above. “Welcome, Aeryn.”

“Aeryn?” He muttered. “How do you know me?”

“I know a lot about you. You go by One right? Or the knight if you’re the reader.” The lady said.

“Reader? What are you talking about?” Aeryn asked.

“I also know that you’re looking for the Fountain of Youth.”

Aeryn squinted his eyes at her, unsure of her intentions. “What do you want from me?”

The lady-in-white created a recliner---out of nothing---and rested on it. “My name is Mina Light and you see, I’ve been watching you from the beginning. Through thick and thin. Now, you’re nearing your death, but I can’t bear to separate myself from you. I consider you my child. That’s why I want to give you a second chance. I will grant you a new skill.”

“Second chance? A new skill?”

“Yes, I heard it’s being remastered and getting a second chapter. Anyways, I will be granting you the skill ‘Void’!” She declared.

“Remastered?” He muttered. “Void?”

“I don’t have much time, so this is all I can do for you.” Mina rose---her face blurred---and began ascending. She chucked something down for Aeryn to catch. In his palms was a small rabbit. “He’ll be watching over you. If you need something, then use him as a means of communication.” She told him before disappearing into the sky. As Aeryn tried to understand the situation, the world around him began to break, eventually, turning into an empty void.

Author’s Note: Mina is a fourth-wall-breaking character. When she says “Or the knight if you’re the reader”, she’s talking about you (the reader) and the fact that he’s referred to as the knight and not by One or his real name.

Author’s Note #2: Second Chance is another series that I’ve made that is
