His mother asked, stepping close as he bent closer to her height so she could plant her customary kiss on his cheek.
"Oh, I went to my pond mother, but I also got a very interesting visiter today."
"Oh? Who was it?"
"Terra Silver-Owl, the carpenter's daughter."
"Oh? I hear the Silver-Owl family is full of nice people."
"Huh? Oh, yes, very nice...." Rand murmured, remembering Terra's temper.
"What did she want?" His mother asked
"To spend time at the pond, she knows its not mine by way of land. Apparently its her thinking spot as well. When she thinks she speaks aloud, but I highly doubt she realizes it." He said, chuckling as he remembered her conversation with herself.
"And you know this how?" Walter asked, raising a golden eyebrow. He and Henry were identical to there mother, Rand on the other hand, was like a black sheep, just like their faher.
"I got to the pond and she was already there, talking to herself, something about her father and his shop being in danger of going out of buisness. Has her pretty little head all worried over it."
"Ah, so she was pretty was she?" Henry asked, grinning.
"More than merely pretty, she was exquisite! Long auburn hair, dark green eyes, golden skin, and the lips of an angel!" Rand said, sitting down next to his mother. Everyone stared for a moment, then his brothers burst into laughter. His mother still looked suprised, his father was quietly thoughtful.
"You kissed her didn't you?" Henry asked eagerly.
"More then once."
"Twice?"
"More. Don't guess, brother, I lost count after the first fifteen." Rand said, grinning evily at his brothers.
"Why, Randell, you are worse than your brothers!" His mother exclaimed, staring at him, looking hurt.
"Don't worry, mother, she enjoyed it. As a matter of fact, she started it."
"Oh no, you're not pulling that old one. How could she have started it?"
"Well, first off, she kissed me back."
"Someone pretty kissed your old mug? Hah!" Walter laughed.
"My mug is alot prettier than yours brother." Rand shot back.
"What exactly started your little kissing game with the pesant?" His father asked, speakig for the first time.
Rand was sober the moment the words left his fathers mouth.
"Nothing, just a toll. Well, I must be going. I need to have my horse reshoed." Rand said.
"Stop by the carpenders will you? I hear that daughter of his is quite good at making vases. We need a new one for the front hall."
Rand stared blankly at his father before turning and heading inside.
"Mother?" Terra asked, stirring the pot of stew for dinner.
"Yes?"
"Do we know anyone named Rand?" She asked, facing away from her mother.
"Hmmm...I don't think so, dear. Why?"
"No reason really, just a stranger I talked to today."
Terra's mother was about to press when her father walked in chatting intently with a young man of about nineteen. He was tall with black hair, perfectly tanned skin, and beautiful blue eyes. Like the wolf's, Terra thought, surprising herself.
"Moira, Terra, both of you must meet Sir Randell!" Her father said, surprising her. "Sir Randell, this is my lovely wife Moira, and my excuisite daughter Terra."
"Ladies," Randell said, bowing to each of them and kssing her mothers hand.
"Sir Randell." Her mother said politly, curtsying.
Terra gave a stiff nod in Randell's direction.
"Your daughter, if I may, is quite excuisite. You still know a lovely face when you see one, Richard." Randell said, smiling at her father who smiled proudly in return.
"Terra, Sir Randell is here to see some of your works. He is interested in becoing a buyer." Her father said, smiling again.
"Yes, I hear you make the most lovely vases, and my mother would just love it if I got her one for a gift." Randell said, smiling at her. Being abnormally tall for her age, Terra was almost nose to nose with him.
"Very well, follow me." Terra said stiffly, turning and walking out of the house out to the the little shed behind their home.
Randell followed her easily, his leather clad legs taking swift strides.
"Why is it that I get the feeling you have something against me?" He asked, stepping in front of her path so that she had to pay attention to him.
"Because your a dirty scoundrel that thinks himself above al others and pretends to enjoy mingling with us porer peasents. Does that explain things to your satisfaction?"
"No, why am I all of those things?" He asked, his eyes full of laughter.
"Sir Randell, if you are interested in my pottery then move aside or you shall have to leave empty handed."
"You scorn me, Sweet." He said, moving aside. "Why do you hate me so?"
"Because you're a souless, black hearted, demon who prays on the poor and less fortunate?" She said, sneering. Walking past him she jerked the shacks door open and walked past him. As she sat the candel down, Randell closed the door and walked up behind her. Putting his hands on her shoulders he turned her to face him.
"You know, you really shouldn't be so negative about other people." He murmered, massaging her shoulders with his long, tan fingers.
"I'm not negative! I just don't like you!"
"Well, maybe I can fix that little problem." He mumbled, lowering his lips to hers.
At first she was stunned, then she began kissing him back, sliding her hands up and around his broad shoulders. A moan building in the back of his throat, Rand pressed her against the wall, sliding his hands down to rest on her hips.
Moaning, Terra let her fingers slide into his glossy black hair. Kissing him was like being in the middle of a horse stampede with all of the adrenaline, but none of the fear.
Hearing a noise outside the shacks door, Rand pulled back, gasping for breath. βWe should stop now.β He said, taking a small step back. βNow, why donβt you show me some of that famous pottery?β He mumbled.
βPottery, right.β She said, thinking how impossible it was for her to concentrate on pottery right then. Imprint
