me" August stated before anyone moved.

A sigh and our majesty rolled his eyes, "I knew you were going to say that" he walked down to us, stopping only when he stood in front of August, "She can come but she won't like what she hears."

It wasn't a threat but a friendly warning. I shrugged, "I want to read about Blazes over listening to an entitled..."

"Easy, feisty Blaze" Sawyer walked off, disappearing through a set of chestnut doors, "Come."

I hadn't realized that August still held my arm. Softer but still firm. His eyes turned to me as Quinn and Bain left after Sawyer. August's fingers were tingling my skin, "Don't wander."

With my eyes drinking in his. My lips widened with a smile, "Have fun with the Soothsayer."

I watched him leave, disappearing down the hallway Sawyer had just gone and the towering lady crossed her arms at the sight of Sam and I, "I will show you to the library."

The library was through the same chestnut doors but adjacent to the set that August walked through. There was no music playing. No soft piano medley or violin solos. It was dead silent. I could only hear the scuff of Sam's shoes dragging on the hardwood. The only thing that travelled through the house was the floral wallpaper and the gold trims.

The library had no door. It was merely an open arch. Windows stretching from the floor to the ceiling, bringing the outside in. It was the biggest library I had seen. Bigger than Urith's. Bigger than the bookstore I worked at. Urith would die when he saw this.

Rows and rows and rows of books. Books climbed the wall to heights that scared me. A singular table dominated the area in the middle but there were multiple cushioned oval couches under some of the towering windows. I was in awe.

"How did he come by so many books?" I asked our tour guide.

She looked bored and returned my question with a shrug, "Family inheritance" she disappeared through a stack and held three books as she returned, "These are the books our Lord was talking about."

I fought the urge to roll my eyes when she called Sawyer a Lord and I took them from her, "Thank you."

Sam grabbed the top book and took a seat at one of the couches under a window, "I have never heard of a Blaze."

"Neither have I" I signed back, sitting next to him.

'This book is meant for you' read the first sentence of the book I held. My mind swarming as I took in the information before me. There were not just Ember-wolves, born on a gibbous moon. There were Flame-hounds, born on a quarter moon. There were Flare-wolves, born on a crescent moon. There were Inferno-wolves, born on a new moon and then there were my kind. Blaze-hounds, born on a full moon.

All different abilities but all handled the fire born within us. An Ember could only access their flame in human form. A Flamed could only use their ability as their wolf. Flares could only manipulate an already lit fire. An Inferno could only use their fire under a new moon.

I swallowed, looking at Sam across from me as he looked at me with an expression that was almost sad and I kept reading the next sentence.

A Blaze, could use their flame in both human and wolf form. The top of the Embers. An alpha of their own kind.

I DREAMT OF THE WARM SUMMER SUN.

I dreamt of my body lounging on a day bed and soaking up the sunlight.

I dreamt of someone screaming. Someone wailing. The sound echoed through the rows of novels and the world started to blur.

I dreamt of Shaw holding August's body. Clinging his body to him in the arch way. Head ripped clean off. Blood drenching the floor.

I was the one screaming. I was the one wailing. My voice echoing around me, it sounded so strange. So foreign.

My throat burning from the volume of my cries.

This isn't real. This isn't real. This isn't real.

Hands. Hands grabbed my face and I jerked awake.

It was Sam's warm eyes that watched me. We were still lounging on the oval couch. It was dark outside now.

I tried to swallow through my dry throat as I frowned up at Sam, "How long has it been?"

Sam was still watching me with horror and concern covering his normally soft features. His dark eyes teary with fear, "You were screaming."

I blinked at the sudden sound of his voice, "What?"

"You were screaming" his fingers were digging into my arms, "You scared me."

I've never heard him speak more than a sentence at a time. I felt guilt ripple through me and my hands grabbed for his, "I'm sorry, it was just a nightmare."

"Not in the stacks" Sawyer strolled in with a lazy grin, "This is a child-friendly environment, you freaks."

No sign of the Oracle or Quinn. The Zetas were standing at the arch. Where Shaw was just holding August's dead body. Watching me with laser-sharp focus.

I was too shaken to glare. Too drowsy to notice the tightness in August's jaw. I opted for an eye roll, "Grow up."

Sawyer squeezed his way in between Sam and I, "So sorry, we took so long" a sigh leaving his lips as he stretching his legs.

My eyes caught August's, "What did take so long?"

"Oh, the fucking Forecaster couldn't decide what she wanted to see" Sawyer muttered, poking at Sam's ear. Sam growled at him in response and it only made Sawyer do it more.

Forecaster. I read in the books that they were Oracles born on a New Moon. They're the only type of Oracle that can see the future.

I opened my mouth to speak but August interrupted with a grunt, "It's time to go."

Sam got up instantly, leaving to scout the exit. Sawyer practically sighed, "If you insist" he stood and extended a hand to me.

Our brown eyes connected and I let him help me up from the couch. Sawyer held my hand until we were in the foyer and strangely, it wasn't as odd as it should have been. August walked down the stairs to the awaiting Etas. Quinn was in the car, the Oracle in the back seat and I went to let go of Sawyer's hand when he pulled me off to the side.

His eyes locked onto mine before he quickly glanced off his shoulder, "The Forecaster told me to tell you this."

I opened my mouth and closed it again. Not knowing what to say. My future on the top of the Soothsayer's tongue.

He held up his hand, stopping me from interrupting, "You should stay here tonight."

I frowned, "Is that what they told you?"

"I'm so lonely in this big house, stay over and we'll talk to the Forecaster, do facials or whatever you females do" He kept looking over her shoulder and I swear it was fear that swirled in his eyes.

I shook my head, "I can't" the Soothsayer sagged in disappointment, "It's Moon-Solstice tomorrow night."

His dark eyes glowed, "You must not go."

"What's taking so long?" August's voice made both of us jerk.

I felt Sawyer's eyes burning into the back of my head and they met when I got into the car. A slow knowing smile stretching over his face like a cat. He knew my future. I didn't stop thinking about that look on his face the whole way home.

The house was as busy as I've ever seen it. Pack members everywhere. Psi everywhere. August was nowhere to be seen. I spent the morning in his bed, thinking about what the Soothsayer said. If the Forecaster told Sawyer to stop me from leaving. If the Forecaster told Sawyer to tell me to not go to the Solstice.

It was almost midday when Bain wandered into the room. Wearing his training clothes and an angry frown painted on his face, "Have you been in bed this whole time?"

A shrug. Followed by a nod.

He rose his hands in exasperation, "Get up, come train with me." He didn't give me a chance to say no. He grabbed at random clothes from Quinn's pile.

I rose my eyebrows at his selection before finally leaving my bed. August's bed. I grabbed at the gross brown shirt and grey shorts.

"Brown?" my voice cynical.

"Brown?" his voice was a high mocking pitch and he nodded toward the bathroom, "Hurry up."

He sauntered down the hallway ahead of me and my confusion started as we walked past the training room and further.

My eyes went wide and I felt my body inwardly shudder. The Oracle now grinning as he took in my expression, "Scared, Changeling?"

"To freeze to death? Yeah, I definitely am" even at the threshold, I could still see my breath as I stood watching the white frozen landscape ahead.

Bain wanted to train outside today. Outside in the snow and ice. Without jackets. The winter sun was only there for light. No warmth. Yet, when we stepped out into the winter wonderland and being out here surrounded by the trees and snow, without anyone but us. I felt my lungs take their first full breath. Peace entering my body.

My skin already turning the colour of the snow around us. I shivered, "Let's get started then."

The Oracle clicked his tongue and clapped me on the back, "That's the spirit."

It was almost too bright to see Quinn when she eventually wandered out to us, hands in her pockets and her face in her neutral icy state. I've been around her many times to know that she wasn't angry, this face was more bored and curious.

Bain and I were both hot and sweaty, he wore the scratch I landed on his left cheek and I bared the light bruise building on my shin.

Quinn sighed when we both looked at her, "I'm bored and everyone is being weird in the house."

I met her icy sapphires and I nodded, "Even Sam was being weird."

Sam barely stopped all day. Running around between Sawyer's and here. Forever scouting and looking for the next threat.

A child-like laugh from Bain, "Moon-Solstice makes everyone loony."

My own laugh left my body as Bain's echoed the winter scene around us, "That's why we escaped."

Quinn allowed us to see her small smile, "Invite me next time, arseholes."

We stayed out there for hours until I couldn't feel my blood moving in my veins. Alice had wandered out after not being able to find anyone else, not saying anything but taking a seat next to Quinn.

I watched my breath come out in puffs, "Pretty sure my blood is frozen."

Quinn was sitting on a fallen tree, her own fingers red from the cold as she gripped her book and she looked up at me with a ghost of a smirk, her rings twinkling. Alice was actually not looking at her phone but down at us with a slow smile on her face.

The Oracle was lying next to me in the snow, his own breath visible in puffs and I looked over at him as he turned to look at me, "Mine is definitely frozen."

"Of course, I found you bunch of misfits out here in the damned snow" I watched as Quinn's face lifted immediately at the voice and I knew that second it was Urith.

He stood with an identical icy neutral look as his mate, hands
