mean what I could say to that.
“A lot has happened while you have been recovering and I no longer can stay with you, but I didn’t want to leave until you were awake”
I drop my hands and remove myself from his lap and turn to give him my back. “Ok what’s happened?” I ask.
“Luc will explain” he says “Mercy is staying a little while longer before joining me”
“Can’t she go instead” slipped out my mouth.
“No” he said bluntly, I felt his hands on my arms and him turn me around to face him. “I wish I could but you have asked me to save this world, and I’m still undecided. I must see and speak with my brothers, Eve is a threat to you and is refusing to even consider an alternative even if there is one.”
“I understand, and exactly how many of there are you?” noticing he was dressed again. I look up at him “what has Mercy decided?” I ask.
“Five in total. Mercy is struggling, but is willing to support my choice, be thankful she likes you nearly as much as I do, I think you are the winning factor for both of us” he steps away “I must go” he says.
“When are you coming back” I ask but could see the answer in his eyes. He begins to speak but I hold my hand up to stop him “I’ll miss you” I say. He smiles and fades from sight to leave me alone.
I go to my ensuit to wash my face and change for bed, when I hear my door open again. Towel drying my face I walk back into my room to find Sebastian in the door way.
“I felt him leave” he said before I could even get a word out. I didn’t speak and threw my towel in the washing basket and began to turn down my bed.
“His not right for you” he says stopping me dead.
I was angry because Jonah had left me and didn’t know when he could come back, I was angry at Sebastian for leaving me wanting him all these years and now he wants me when its to late. My mother is dead, my fathers betrayed me, my brother is in as much pain as I am and there is nothing I can do about it. I proceeded to shout this as load as I could at him until I had worn myself out, feeling completely spent I sat down on the edge of my bed.
Sebastian had not said a word and had let me vent my anger; he came and sat beside me our shoulders touching. He went to put his arms around me and I whisper “don’t” and he drops his arm back down to his side.
“Why now?” I ask him knowing full well what he knew what I was talking about.
“I have loved you for a long time, but you have been avoiding me” he answers me. “And seeing you with him, I didn’t like it”
“I’ve avoided you because for such a long time I felt the same but you always treated me like a sister or best friend” I tell him. “I couldn’t keep seeing you the way I felt and putting myself through the pain of not having my feelings returned”
“Those feeling don’t just disappear and I do return those feelings” he tells me.
“No they don’t I will always have a special place for you” I tell him finally looking at him. “But what I feel for him eclipses everything that I feel for you” I could see the hurt written all over his face.
He stood and paced the room in front of me; I noticed movement by the door and saw Mercy hidden in the shadows watching, I offered her a small smile before turning back to Sebastian.
“He could kill us all him and his elder gods” he rages. “How can you trust that” he demanded.
“I am trusting him to do the right thing, if he doesn’t it will break me” I answer softly as he crouches down in front of me.
“I am surprised with my feeling for him as he and everyone else is, but it is the way that it is and I have chosen my path” I continue “but if comes down to a fight regardless of my feelings for him. I will always choose the races survival first. I can promise you that”
“I could be so much better for you and I am not giving up!” he says softly.
“I believe you” I agree “but you’re not him.”
He rises to his feet “hope you can keep that promise Lil” with that walks out.
“You can come out now” I say to the air, to see Mercy walk through the doorway that Sebastian had just exited through.
“You heard?” I ask.
“Yes” she replied. “And I can see why my brother is so taken with you” she tells me.
I smile sadly at her and close my eyes as my head begins to pound with the start of a huge headache. She comes to me and places her hand briefly on my head just as Jonah had done and immediately my headache vanishes “thanks” I mumble.
“Was it great?” she asks and I look in confusion “the pain on returning to this life” she says as she gestures around me.
I think for a moment before answering, deciding whether to be completely honest, I look at her to see the honest curiosity, and decide on complete honesty.
“Yes, I wanted to die again” I tell her.
“Why did you endure this pain to come back?” she asks “I don’t understand it” she confesses.
I pull her down to her surprise to sit beside me on my bed. “Because I love my brother, my mother and even that traitorous shit I call father” I began “if I didn’t come back what would be my mother death be for or mine for that matter.” she frowns at my words.
“I do it because I love my brother, he is strong but it would have changed him for the worst if I would have died too, at least we are together to grieve. I do it because I think I may love your brother. I do it because I think your wrong and it’s the right thing to do” I tell her.
“I think I understand some of what you say. You have given me much to think on” and she vanishes in much the same way as Jonah had.
I hop into bed and pray that there are no more visitors. I settle down and quickly sleep over takes me.
I must have had a nightmare as I woke up drenched of sweat and a scream escaping my lips, I sat there panting to see my brother and Sebastian come rushing in to my bedroom weapons drawn. I brush my hair back off my face with a shaky hand.
“Nightmare” I tell them. Sebastian retreats leaving me and Luc alone.
“You okay?” he asks.
“I will be” I reply.
Mercy comes strolling in looking bright and bubbly as the first time I had met her and I was a little jealous because I must have looked a total mess.
“What did you dream about” she asks.
“Don’t remember” I reply not wanting to talk about it. “why don’t you two get lost, let me dress and I’ll meet you down stairs and you two can tell me what’s been going on” I said as I waved them out the room firmly shutting the door behind them.
Half hour later we were all sat round the kitchen table except Sebastian who was behind me leaning up against the kitchen cabinet. Between the three of them they basically told me that Eve and the some of the angels, vampires and shifters have been attacking the mortals and the other races who haven’t sided with Eve plans. Gabriel, along with the mages and Witches have all been out protecting the mortals and fending off the attacks. Luc and Sebastian wouldn’t leave me and were just waiting for me to heal before we go and join the war. Gabriel and Uriel have both been coming in as much as they can and keeping the others up to date. Mercy as I guessed is neutral just like Jonah and will not help either side.
“Where the most trouble spot” I ask them.
“Am you sure about this Sebastian” started to say before I cut him off.
“Shut up Seb” I say before I carry on shutting down his protests before he spoke
“Heard anything from Lucifer?” I ask Luc.
“Nothing as yet”
They tell me that the angels were concentrating on the main cities first, by flushing everyone out of hiding and then attacking.
“Right London it is then” I decide and stand making my way out the door followed closely by Luc, Mercy and Sebastian bringing up the rear. I decide to fly there as I don’t want to pop up in the middle of an attack and get myself hurt by being careless. Luc agrees with me and we uncover our wing and flare them out in preparation.
I look over to Luc and see that his wings remain pure white and quickly glance at mine, to see the blackness with many more red flecks through them.
“There lovely” I heard Mercy say.
