John ran fast, and made his next blow with the handle of his sword. Og fell hard, and struggled up. “You’re >cough!< better than I >cough!< thought! >cough! Chapter 18
Isabella didn’t understand. “We...we got you your crown back! Why are you arresting us?” Isabella shouted. The king just laughed. “You four really do take me as an idiot, don’t you? You really expect me to believe children found my crown?” The king said. “Or even if you did, how do I know you didn’t steal it in the first place?” The guards closed in on them. “But we didn’t!” Isabella protested. “Silence!” commanded the king. “Guards! Seize them!” The guards closed in further. John and Jack took out their weapons, and fell back in a defense stance. “What are you doing?” Isabella said, through clenched teeth. “We got this far, I’m not ending here,” John said. “STOP!” Claire screamed.
The guards jumped in surprise. Isabella, Jack, and John looked at Claire in bewilderment. Claire walked up, and looked at the king, her father, straight in the eye. “Father,” Claire said quietly. The king gasped. His thought to be long last secret daughter, was now in his presence. “My friends and I fought many dangers! We accomplished so much just to get your damned crown. I don’t care what you do to me, I don’t care what you think of me, because I know that I am strong, smart, and courageous. So you can do what ever you like to me, because all that matters is I know we accomplished what millions of people couldn’t. That’s something to proud of.”
The king looked down at this girl. His long lost daughter, whom was a scared, innocent, and weak little girl, has now turned into a tougher, stronger, and even wiser girl. He laughed. “What?” Isabella said, a bit irritated. “You really expect me to believe that you four faced many dangers?” The king chortled. “Yes, we went to the spider queen’s caverns, and defeated the almighty Alstaria,” Isabella said proudly. The king just laughed harder and bellowed, “You really expect me to believe that those abnormal things actually exist?” Isabella sighed, for she knew what she had to do. Isabella ran through the routine. Since there was three cups that was filled to the top with water, in front of the king, queen, and princess, Isabella could demonstrate with ease. The water flowed up, and twirled, moving gracefully through the air. The king, just sat there in shock, watching the water fly in the air unnaturally.
When Isabella finally lost concentration, the water fell, and splattered on the ground. “I...I don’t believe it! You were telling the truth!” The king stammered. He shook his head, and said, “Forgive me, I underestimated you, I want to thank you for bringing back my beloved crown, now, would you like something to eat?”
The banquet was spread across five tables. Isabella never saw so much food in her life. There was three roasted turkeys, salads, wine, beef, chicken, vegetables, bread, butter, and water. Isabella ate until she dropped. Claire reunited with her farther, telling all that happened. Ernesto placed his hands on Isabella’s shoulders. The queen tried to get Jack to stop eating all the food, while Claire’s sister would occasionally stare at John for a few minutes every now and then.
“You four kids are amazing!” The king exclaimed. Then he sighed. “Such a shame that I lost my best knight Og, he was my best knight, and advisor. It is difficult to believe that he would concoct such a devilish plan against me.” The queen tried to comfort him. The king decided to banish the thought, and smiled. He raised his glass of wine, and said, “here’s to the return of my valuable crown, and the return of my youngest daughter... Claire!” “Huzzah!” Everyone cheered. “well, thank you, but your majesty, I think it’s best for us to get going,” John said. “Well, where are you going?” The king asked. Jack shrugged. All of them distributed their good-byes. Jack hugged Claire. “Good-bye Claire...hope you live a long good life!” Isabella hugged Claire. “I’m Going to miss you so much!” Isabella said. John came up and hugged Claire. “Well, this is good-bye Claire, I mean we got to know a lot about each other...” Claire reached up and pecked him on the cheek. John blushed, and Jack lightly punched him in the arm. John and Isabella said their byes. Finally, Jack faced Isabella.
“Well, I guess this is good-bye Isabella,” Jack said. Isabella nodded, looking down at her feet. They hugged, even though they didn’t want to stop, they pulled away when the king spoke up. Before you go, I have something to ask you three, would you like to come live in the castle?”
She had done it. “My life,” She thought. “Is great.” It was hard to believe that not long ago, she was a maid. Now, she was being treated like royalty. She thought about all she had been through: The spider queen’s cavern, Alstaria’s mountain, went through and freed the Woods of Red Eyes, the tree monster inside, the demons, and finally, Og. Isabella turned on her side, making the bed squeak. It was the first time since the quest had started, she was alone. Isabella, John, Jack, and Claire slept in different rooms, though Isabella did not do much sleeping.
The room Isabella was in was very large, with a enormous window, which was open, and a light breeze invited itself in, and lightly tickled Isabella’s face. Then, Isabella realized something. For the first time in a long time, Isabella was happy. She had friends, freedom, a roof over her head, food, and can see her loving uncle even more now!
She breathed in and out, and pulled the covers over her shoulders. It was warm under the blankets, and Isabella became a bit more drowsy. The drapes beside the window flew in the air a bit. Her eye lids felt very heavy. She turned over to the other side.
As Isabella slowly closed her eyes, and was just about to be carried off to a distant land, and that land was the land of dreams, she thought of three words: I did it.
And that she did.
As John walked across a rainbow road, in the abundant space, John gazed down at the big blue earth. He was in long johns. Suddenly, he was approached by a figure’s silhouette, whom was as large as the earth itself. “SON,” the figure boomed. “Dad?” John said. “SON I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I AM STILL ALIVE, AND THAT I NEED YOU! FOR I AM BEING HELD CAPTIVE!” “Who? Who is holding you?” John demanded. “IT IS TO DANGEROUS TO TELL YOU, BUT ALL I CAN TELL YOU IS THIS! BEWARE OF HIM! BEWARE OF THE BEING THAT GOES BY THE NAME, SCREECH!” John’s father said.
John felt the rays of the sun beaming down on his face, thats when John realized that he was dreaming. As the rainbow road, father, space, and earth began to fade, John thought last thing before waking. “I’ll find you father, I’ll find you and rescue you, I promise.”
I cannot tell you anything more past this point, for that is a different story, one with more dangers, and excitement than this one, but like I said, that is another story. Until the next story, all I can say is:
THE END
