“Firstly, let me introduce myself, if you don’t mind, Holy Sire.” He said, pausing for a confirmation which he swiftly got. “I am Captain Benjamin Stark, leader of this operation.” He then turned around, pointing at the battlefield. Stark and the others stood on a hill that overlooked the plain serving as the battlefield between the Wyvern and Slade forces. The two sides clashed in a bloody struggle for dominance with neither side wanting to give up even an inch of ground.
“Below our armies are fighting with the Slade armies. We’ve been stuck at a standstill for the last month or so and any attempts we made have been destroyed by the enemy. We haven’t been able to do much. What should we do, Holy Sire?”
Locus nodded, glancing at the battlefield. He saw spurts of blood like fountains and limbs being thrown everywhere. The gruesome sights quickly awoke something deep inside him, clawing at him to be released. It fought its way up, being victorious so far until Locus put his foot down and stopped it from being released. Though, some of it managed to reach his mouth. It was vomit. Locus nearly threw up in front of the guards, Tedas, and Angelica.
“What’s wrong, Holy Sire?” Spark asked him.
Locus shook his head, looking away from Spark. “J-Just thinking… uh… well couldn’t I just attack the Slade guys from here and put an end to it?”
“Considering that you haven’t got much magic training, I would say no,” Tedas remarked. “And none of the physical training I put you through on our way here would help you either.”
“I wouldn’t be able to just devastate them with an explosion or something?” Locus asked, turning to face him.
Tedas shook his head. “You could easily miss and hit nothing, if you’re lucky, or end up devastating our forces. We can’t take that risk and the enemy is spread too thin and mingling with our men that you would kill more of our guys than them.” Spark and the others nodded their heads in agreement.
“But what if we call a retreat and put space in between our men and their’s? Then wouldn’t the Holy Sire be able to create a Light Wall and block the Slade armies before attacking them? Then we would be able to flank them and devastate them?” One of the other men standing at the campfire suggested.
Spark glanced at Locus before Tedas for both of their inputs. Tedas shrugged his shoulders while Locus pondered over the suggestion. After a few moments, he nodded. “If you could get everybody to retreat, I’ll use the wall to stop the Slade forces from advancing, I’ll devastate them while you get your cavalry to attack from the sides and flank them, cutting off their reinforcement line. I’ll serve as the artillery here.”
Tedas nodded. “I agree with our Holy Sire,” He giggled softly before continuing. “Aside from art-till-oh-ree or whatever that strange word is, he is making a lot of sense. Give the order and Spark will begin the plan.”
Locus nodded, ignoring his giggling. “Spark, tell the men to retreat.”
Spark nodded, bowing his head before disappearing alongside the other men. They all went off to inform their forces and begin the first step of the plan.
“Now, can you enact the wall?” Tedas asked him, glancing at Angelica who was receiving many glares from the guards that were assigned to watch over her.
Locus noticed where Tedas was staring and turned around to catch the guards mean-mugging Angelica. He glared at them, applying heavy pressure on them and throwing them off-balance.
“Interesting power isn’t it?” Tedas remarked.
Locus nodded, glancing at Angelica who continued to stare at the ground and nothing else. She appeared more dead than alive, silent throughout the meeting.
Now somewhat satisfied that the guards knew their lesson, Locus turned back towards the battlefield and pointed his palms at where the main action was occurring. The Wyvern forces retreated, leaving behind bewildered and stunned Slade forces.
Magic circles appeared on his palm as he began his incantation. “Let the light that binds me, pave the way. Release that which is bottled up towards my enemies. I’ll light up the path for my allies and bring peace to those in desperate need of it. Light Wall!” He shouted. Pure light emitted from his palms and shot towards his intended destination, hitting the ground in front of the majority of the Slade forces, though a minority were caught on the wrong side of the wall. Now with them temporarily trapped, Locus repeated his incantation, this time summoning Light Strikes and fired hordes of them at his foes. The Slade army was being devastated by the light attacks and was struggling to regain order amidst the chaos created by the sudden obstruction in their way and a teen slinging light at them from afar. However, they were granted help with one of their issues as, without notice, a cloud of black mist descended and exploded on Locus, knocking him out immediately. His Light Wall instantly disappeared, now not being controlled by Locus anymore, before suddenly reappearing and catching a few unlucky Slade soldiers in the process.
Unfortunately, Locus was now knocked unconscious by a force that Tedas didn’t recognize. Though, Angelica recognized it. She looked up at the source, a demon floating above them, grinning at her. The demon brought one finger to its lips, shushing her. “The fun will start soon.” It growled.
“Where am I?” Locus thought out loud. He wasn’t standing on the hill overlooking the battlefield but sitting on a puffy cloud.
“You are in Heaven, but you are not dead.” A light orb remarked, appearing in front of Locus. “My name is Czeco, the Creation God. I have summoned you here to deal with the issue you’re facing.”
“Wait… what happened to me?” Locus blurted out. “Why am I here?”
“You were knocked unconscious by a demonic attack. You nearly died, but I managed to save you just in time. However, I can’t save you again.”
“I’ll die if I’m attacked again by this demonic attack? Where was this demon anyways?”
“I don’t know, but this demon is close to you. I’m afraid that the Slade army will be the least of your issues if you can’t locate this demon and vanquish it. Otherwise, you’ll reappear here again, but this time without a mortal form to return to. You’ll be sent back into the reincarnation cycle and your memories will disappear. You’ll be a clean slate again.”
“Then what can I do?” Locus asked him, rising to his feet. “How do I continue to live?”
Czeco in his light orb form remained silent for a second, frightening Locus. He expected Czeco to tell him that he couldn’t do anything aside from laying down and accepting his fate. Fortunately, there was something he could do.
“I’ll have you break into the next tier of your powers. You will become stronger and you will kill this demon. You’ll become a… demi-god.”
