βHow nice of you to finally wake up my love.β His voice alone sent shivers through my body, and not like the ones Cryder gave me. His words made me feel sick to my stomach.
βWh...what are you doing here?β I shakily asked.
βI was waiting for you my dear. Actually I was heading to go to you. However, like a miracle you fell into my lap all nice and bloody.β Bristol, in one quick motion slid away from the tree he was leaning on, and came to stand in front of me.
βCryder will be here soon.β I could sense him searching for me. He smiled the most terrifying smile I had ever seen, and reached to stroke a long thick finger down the length of my face. I cringed inside but was too scared to back away from him.
βI know. So I wonβt make this last long.β I looked into his empty eyes reminding me of a moonless night. Staring into them created an emptiness to bubble inside of me. βNow that Iβm looking at you. Seeing the pink rush to your cheeks and those deep eyes of yours, I think I would rather use you for my benefit. You know? Rather than drink you dry, take your powers, and leave your body for your beloved, I could find a usefulness for you. Well for the time being at least. β He smiled brightly.
I didn't know what to do, or when I had fallen down on my knees in front of him, but I knew I couldn't let him hold my life in his hands.
I stood up. βIt's not your choice on whether I live or die. You don't control that, you aren't a god.β
His smile faltered, his eyebrows rose and he removed his hand from my face. βDon't be so bold girl. I can change my mind like that,β he said with a snap of his fingers.
He quickly had his hand around my throat before I had a chance to turn and run. He pushed me backward, and I landed hard with a thud on the gravel below my feet. He sauntered over to me with a devilish grin. I tried to get up, to run, but I was not fast enough. He slammed my face into the ground and I could hear his heavy breathing at my ear. It mingled with my own ragged breaths.
Bristol flipped me over and he was straddling me with his mouth only inches from my own. A knot formed in the pit of my stomach not knowing if he was contemplating kissing me or killing me. His hand that had been around my throat moved to clasp my mouth shut. He lifted me by the neck and then slammed my head back into the gravel. I tried to fight, but my vision blurred at the edges after that last hit. That was when I felt the next searing pain shoot through me. My body uncontrollably arched upward, as Bristol's knife-sharp fangs penetrated my neck.
