It was two days after the eclipse that I was walking down the hallway of our house to my room, that I found a note on my bed saying to come to West Point Hollow for a birthday party. I totally forgot to get a present for my best friend, Candy Nicholson, so I walked over to my desk grabbed my wallet and jacket and headed for the door. When I opened my door my mom was standing there with a basket of laundry. “Where are you going Carter”, my mother asked,” To the store to get a gift for Candy, then to West Point Hollow for her party”. I answered. “Well make sure Jonathan knows to bring you home around 10:30”, her eyes shone with approval, “Actually I’ll be spending the night at her house afterward if that’s okay with you”. I told her, “That’s fine honey, have fun”. Then she walked past me and into my room. I love my mum with a burning passion and without I don’t know what I would do. It was her idea to adopt me and I thank God everyday that she did. Who knows where I’d be? But I had to think about that later, I was late and needed to leave.
