“We’re in an underground hideout.” Katniss seemed as if she had read my mind. I had no clue where we were. “ We’re here because you are in danger.”

Then AJ finished the rest, “Once the blood dweller has your blood you aren’t safe just to be browsing around. It could kill you without you having protection.

At that point in the day, I noticed something in Katniss’ belt. A tomahawk and a knife.

“Uh—“ I began.

“I throw tomahawk and knife.” Katniss said.


“Oh, that’s cool.” I said.

“Ya, I guess it is.” Katniss seemed, well, sad. I guess I can say. I wanted to ask what was wrong but I decided not to.

As we were walking through the dark, cold, and musty underground tunnel, I was thinking how this all would end up. Would the blood-dweller’s master find me? I guess I’ll just have to wait and find out.

Since I was walking a little behind, Katniss came back and was walking next to me.

“Hey.” I said. What else could I say?“Hey. You scared?” Katniss whispered. Apparently she didn’t want the others to hear. She had a look in her eyes I can’t explain.

I took a deep breath and I whispered back, “Ya. Of course I am. Half of this time I have no idea what to do, the other half, I have this sick feeling in my stomach.”

“That’s how I was when I first found out about the fairy realm.” Katniss answered in her quiet peaceful voice. “I was so scared I’d have nightmares every night. I would wake up screaming because some of them were so intense and freaky.”

“Oh, wow.”

“I know I just wish someone would stop all of this nonsense. I mean, sure it’s fun having the power of fire and sun, and sure it’s fun training, but its been 5 7 years now. I want it all over.” I saw a tear on Katniss’ cheek.

“You were 8 when you found out about all this?” I asked. I felt embarrassed of how I’ve been acting. I’m 15 and scared. And think about how Katniss felt at age 8.

The rest of the walk in the underground tunnel was quiet.
