βYou are both to stay inside the castle for two weeks. You are not to go outside at anytime until the two weeks are up. Do you understand, girls?"
βYes, daddy,β replied both girls, in trembling voices.
The king and queen then stood up, tucked the girls in, and each of them on their foreheads before they left the room. As soon as the door had closed, Jade then jumped off her bed and scampered over to Beatrix, whispering:
βCan I stay with you tonight, Beatrix. Please?β
βSure, come in,β replied Beatrix, realizing that her little sister needed some extra comforting. She raised her covers and Jade clambered in, snuggling up to her big sister who held her until they were fast asleep.
