The Siren's Call by CAV LASTER (classic novels .txt) đź“•
Excerpt from the book:
PRINCE HEZAC returns to Earth for one reason only...
To fetch an item he thought long ago forgotten. Fury consumes him when he finds his heirloom missing. Past memories of his long-dead lifemate return to haunt his every waking minute. Shock turns to fear when he stumbles upon a woman he thought never to find…a new lifemate, and Hezac is not exactly thrilled.
SHASHAI GONZALEZ is an archaeologist on the hunt…
Dreams and instinct have driven her to dive beneath the ocean’s surface in search of answers to long forgotten questions. Among the items she salvages is a pendant engraved with the head of a black Jackal. The unusual piece of jewelry not only captures the attention of the malevolent Narza Order, but also a fierce stranger whose very nearness makes her weak in the knees.
But Prince HEZAC has sworn to never again let his emotions weaken him…
He turns from Shashai in hopes that time and distance will help him resist the Golac’s call, his mating instinct. When Shashai uncovers secrets the Narza Order would do anything to conceal, Hezac is forced to stand by her side. Together they must find a way to destroy the Narza Order before they unleash their plans to control the world. Will Hezac’s stubbornness cost him the life of his new mate, or will he let down his guard and allow her to claim his heart?

plastered against his face. Perspiration covered his forehead and Domae, the symbol of a black bird.
With a ragged breath he spoke, “Hezac, my friend, I’ve discovered what the Zadors are. It seems Phasti has created a way to alter the DNA of our people, and I believe…”
Loud female sobs and hard tugs on his pant legs disturbed Hezac. He commanded, “Mykra, release me!”
Azuma’s form instantly disappeared, while the symbols returned to their resting place. A wail brought him to stare at the inconsolable woman who knelt before him. He raised his eyebrows at the sight of her. Warning bells sounded in his head as his hands shot forth and gripped the women’s arms.
He shook her as he barked, “What are you doing out here, Anali? As my daughter’s keeper you are to stay at her side! Where’s my child?”
“I don’t know, Great one. I went to check on her and she was not in her bed. Please forgive, my prince. Take my life, for I have failed you.”
Hezac snarled as he shoved her aside. His heart thumped hard as he scouted the area. “Did you bring me something of hers, Anali?” Hezac tossed over his shoulder.
She slowly dragged her body to his feet. He yanked her up by the hair. “There’s no time for groveling, Anali! Be useful, woman, and give me what I need, now!”
With a trembling hand, she took out one of Lazria’s cloaks from a bag over her shoulder. Hezac snatched the garment from her hands as he shoved her aside. He inhaled the familiar scent, drowning himself with it. He hurled the material to Krazin.
“Find my daughter, men. Or I shall have your heads for your failure if something should happen to her! Anali, care for Rivtak.”
“Who?” she whispered.
Hezac glared at her as he gestured to the Xaecon.
Lowering her head and keeping her shoulders hunched, she sat and brought Rivtak’s head to her lap.
Hezac inhaled sharply while he curled his lips in disgust.
He took a few steps away and sniffed the air. There was no breeze this evening, making it more difficult for him to track down Lazria’s scent. If his gut was right, he knew where his daughter headed for, but he couldn’t risk going with his men if he was mistaken.
“Dayln, you shall go west, and Krazin, you shall go east. I will go north. Not a word from both of you of the need of protecting me. I want my daughter found, and do not dare return if you fail to secure her alive.”
At that he took off running to where he believed his child could have trailed to. Twigs snapped under his weight, while branches tore from their roots as his body brushed through the woods in desperation. When the scent of water from Lake Adalia reached him, he slowed his pace.
Hezac lowered the pounding beat of his heart. He focused his vision, seeking the small shape of his daughter. He thanked Lemuria as he caught sight of his child sitting on a rock, mumbling to herself. Her waist-length, black hair whipped around her as a breeze rushed past her.
He furrowed his brow when he saw a black shape with blue glowing eyes reaching for her. Fear coursed through his body as he raced to get to her in time. The Axeon materialized in his hand as he called for it mentally. He uttered a prayer as he flung the large, glowing blue axe.
It swooshed in the air at full speed, sinking into the Zador’s neck. The Zador shrieked while its head fell from its shoulders. Blood sprayed all around. Lazria wailed and sobbed, rocking her body as she stared at the carcass. He gasped as his heart wanted to cave in with grief, but the desire to reach to his daughter’s side blinded him.
Hezac sighed as he took his child in his arms, thanking Lemuria for the perfect aim. Lazria pounded his chest, yelling words filled with hatred and pain. He placed her on the ground, confused from her actions. She should be happy he saved her life, but instead, she blamed him from some unknown misfortune event.
Feeling his emotions in havoc, he didn’t understand, until his gaze fell on the Zador. His heart caught in his throat as he stared at the familiar object which had fallen between the head and body. Hezac stumbled as he made his way to it.
Tears streamed down his cheeks while sobs caught in his throat. He took the object in his hand and inspected it. He knew what it was before he touched it, but he had to make sure, to be certain. He let out a deep, agonizing wail as he pounded the piece of jewelry against his chest.
“You killed her! You killed momma!”
The look on his daughter’s face covered in blood seared his soul. He had taken the life of his beloved and the mother of his child. Feeling rolling waves of grief, Hezac did the only thing he could do. He roared his pain into the wind, accepting the fate Lemuria cursed him to undergo.
