said, and I looked up at him. “Thank you for making me the happiest man on this earth. Thank you for saying yes to being my girlfriend in less than twenty-four hours of meeting. Thank you for accepting me and being by my side. Thank you for carrying our daughter safely. I love you so much and it would mean the world to me if you would say yes to being my wife.” He said. He slowly got down on one knee in front of the chair that I was seated in. I looked up and the paparazzi was fighting outside to get a peek inside. I looked down at Chad, still in much shock. I took his hand and lifted him up with me. Tears streamed down my face, “Yes Chad, I will be your wife!” I squealed. He pulled me closer and I embraced his arms. Everyone in the restaurant applauded, it felt like time stood still just for me to enjoy this moment. Everything was perfect throughout the night, me and his mother spoke well. My father and his dad spoke business. Everything was exactly how I hoped it would be, I sat back in my chair as my little pumpkin kicked away and admired everyone at the table. This is love and this is faith. Our evening ended, and everyone went their separate ways. Me and Chad arrived at my place and I helped him get into bed. I quickly administered another morphine shot and sat up next to him on the bed. “Chad are you sleeping?” I whispered. “No, are you okay?” he asked worriedly. “I’m okay, when would you like to get married?” I asked him. “As soon as possible, tomorrow will do even.” He said smiling. He was really weak, and it broke my heart that soon he won’t be around anymore. “Chad, before or after the baby?” I asked, kissing his hand. “After, I want her in my arms when I marry her mother.” He responded. “Okay, are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?” I asked concerned. “Nah, I’m good. Just come lay here next to me.” I still had my days clothes on and decided to rather wait till his asleep before I take a shower. “Chad, I have a name proposition for her.” I said smiling at him. “You do, tell me.” He said softly. “Crystal.” I said proudly. “I love it.” He said and almost immediately he drifted asleep. I kissed his forehead and slipped from his arms. I quickly took a warm shower and then once I was dressed I went downstairs for a cup of hot chocolate. I took a seat in front of the fire and suddenly I felt uneasy, as if something is really wrong. I felt it deep in my gut. I took a sip of the hot chocolate to hopefully ease my mind, but it wouldn’t. I stared at the stairs, something was not right. I put down my cup and walked upstairs to the bedroom, I placed my hand on Chads chest. It took me a few seconds to register that he was not breathing anymore. I screamed out is name, tears rolled down as I shook him but no response. I screamed out to Raymond who is usually on the premises outside. He bolted into the room fully armed. “His not breathing!” I screamed at him. He immediately called an ambulance. “Please God, please don’t take him now.” I prayed beside him. I kept on praying and crying until the ambulance came. Raymond pulled me out the bedroom as he did not want me to see what they are doing. I kicked and tried fighting him off, but he is much stronger than me. “Miss Crescent. I know I just work for you but let me be your friend right now. I need you to try and be calm, for the child’s sake. The paramedics know what they are doing.” He said calmly. I looked up at him with tears in my eyes. “I can’t loose him Raymond.” I cried out. “Everything will be okay, I promise you.” He said and gave me a hug. His radio was going off and the other securities was busy alerting our parents already. “Miss Crescent.” A paramedic called out to me from outside the bedroom. I ran up to him, “Is he going to be okay?” I asked anxiously. “we resuscitated him, we are taking him to the hospital. He has fallen into a coma.” He explained. They carried him downstairs and his face was so pale as he was carried past me. “Raymond, get the car ready. You need to take me to the hospital. Get the details from them of which hospital please.” I requested quickly and ran into the room to quickly get dressed. I was dressed within seconds, grabbed my handbag and got Raymond downstairs. The ambulance was busy pulling out of the drive way and we just followed behind. My phone was ringing and so many text messages came through. “Raymond, please tell the family to just meet at the hospital. I cannot think straight right now.” I said crying still. He made a quick phone call and sent out the message to be relayed over. We arrived at the hospital and Chad was rushed into the emergency section, I could not join him and awaiting outside in the waiting room where I continued to pray. His parents and mine rushed into the waiting room they all asked questions at once which made me cry even more. “Okay guys, let’s try and be calm here.” His dad said. “amber, what happened?” He asked me calmly. His mother was in a terrible state. “I don’t know, I have him his normal pain shot, we spoke, he fell asleep, I took a shower, went downstairs and made me hot chocolate. I had a gut feeling that something is not right, and I went upstairs and found that he has stopped breathing. His father walked away as he started to cry as well. My mother kept me in her arms and rubbed my head. “I’m going to ask for an update.” My dad said and walked out. “Shhhh my child, he will be okay.” My mother hushed me. My dad walked back in with someone that looks like a doctor. “Dad.” I said getting up. “Evening everyone, I am Dr Michaels. Chad is alive but in a deep coma. The reason why is because he flatlined for more than six minutes and his brain started to shut down. We still need to do some MRI’s to check for any damage done to his brain.” The doctor explained. “so, he actually died?” I asked “Yes, his heart stopped.” He replied. “What was the cause?” his mother asked crying. “The cancer cells spread completely over his lungs and both collapsed which stopped his breathing.” He explained again. “So basically, he suffocated in his sleep?” his mother stated. “Well yes if you want to put it that way. However, we were able to get one lung to work again with steroids that we pumped into it. Right now, he is stable and that is the most important thing. The nurse will let you guys know when you can see him.” He responded and walked out. “I’m going to get everyone some coffee.”  My mom said and walked out. It felt as if my whole world is shattering to pieces in front of me. I’m nearing my due date and Chad is in a coma, why is this happening. I continued to cry for a while until my mother returned with the coffee. A nurse entered the waiting room, “Evening everyone, Mr Lofter is now allowed to have visitors but please note that he is in a coma currently.” She explained. His parents ran after her, they probably want to see him first. It’s okay, I understand because I’m not married yet to him. I sat outside his room while his parents and my mother was inside by him. My father was with me. “Amber, do you ever plan on meeting your grandparents?” He asked me randomly. I looked at him shocked. “Do you really think this is the best time to discuss vampires?” I whispered angrily at him. “Just to take your mind off things.” He answered with a straight face. I gave out a huge sigh, “Okay fine. Well sure why not.” I shrugged. “And do you ever plan on acting as the princess that you are?” He asked me again. “Nah, I’m really not sure. I’m not even a vampire and right now I only know two of them. I would like to keep it that way instead of being surrounded by hundreds.” I said bluntly. My father burst out laughing and I gave him a slap on the back to keep quiet. “What’s your problem dad?” I asked annoyed. “I knew that would be your answer darling. Your grandmother has been asking me when you start with princess lessons.” He replied. “Excuse me, no ways. I have more important things to do.” I replied even more annoyed. “I know, I told her that it’s not the life I want for you and I’m sure you feel the same.” He said. “of cause I feel the same dad.” I said still annoyed. Chads parents and mom walked out. Chads dad was holding his wife walking out of the room, looks like she had a break down which makes me even more nervous to see him in whatever state he is currently in. My mom walked up to me, “Are you sure you want to see him? It does not look good Amber.” She said to be in a very low sad voice. I looked at her, got up and walked into the room. I walked up to him and gasped with so much shock which brought me too tears. He had so much pipes connected to him, through his nose, throat and so many electronics pads on his chest. It was as if all these machines he was connected too gave him life. I had no space to even hug him, I took a seat next to the bed and took his hand. “oh Chad, I feel as if this is my fault. That I was not watching over you properly.” I cried and kissed his hand. “I’m so sorry that I was not there for you, I’m sorry I was not able to be the air that you needed.” I whispered through my tears. I looked at him with so much guilt, guilt that flooded in when I saw all of the machines hooked to his body. How do I survive without him, my heart will not take it and what about our daughter? All these questions went through my mind. A few minutes later, dad stood in the doorway. “It’s time to go Amber, you can come tomorrow.” He said softly. “I don’t want to leave dad.” I said with puffy eyes and a red face. “I want to sleep here till he wakes up.” I said sternly. “You can’t, you are pregnant, and you need to look after yourself as well.” He said walking over to me. “I promise you that the hospital is on alert and I have requested hourly reports to be sent to all of our email addresses that I provided.” He explained. “Okay, that sounds good.” I responded. I got up and kissed his head. “I love you Chad Lofter, please come back to me.” I whispered in his ear hoping that wherever he is, that he will hear me. We walked out of the hospital and it was surrounded by paparazzi outside. It was a real mission to get out. I drove with my dad and the rest drove off with Raymond. “Has Bastiaan ever asked about me since he left dad?” I asked. “No, he has not.” He replied coldly. “Okay.” I
