be lying.

"You're lying! You're not my cat!" I said. The woman in front of me as beautiful as she was had to be lying.

Smooching a bit more closer to the phone, I reached out to it to dial 911.

"What the fuck are you talking about? Of course I'm your cat!" I stopped again, why was she keeping this lie up? Can't she see I wasn't buying it?

"How could this be? How did I change?!" I stopped in my haste to dial 911 as the voice behind me squeaked out. Turning around, I noticed she was now looking in the mirror I kept on the closet door, I was totally confused now. Why was she acting shocked about seeing her reflection?

"What do you mean how did you change? You're seriously messed up," I said, maybe it wasn't the cops she needed but a mental institute though despite it all, I felt my face soften into a more caring expression.

"No I'm not. I ran downstairs when you and Alise were mucking it out with each other, I was behind the boiler and I was a cat then but how the fuck did I become human?" She asked the mirror. I watched as she leaned in closer to inspect herself more, her slender fingers trailing down her cheek as she studied the girl before her and I could not stop staring.

"What?" She asked when she faced my direction. I snapped out of my haze and tried to clear my cloudy thoughts.

"You do seem familiar, are you sure your my cat?" I asked, I knew I was probably repeating myself but I really wanted to make sure this wasn't a dream and I was imagining it all.

"Duh idiot. You bought me from Cherished Hearts Animal Shelter three months ago. You and Alise came into the house while I was watching Animal Planet completely lip locked. You also were mad at me for hissing at Alise when she reached down to pet me." She said and her face fell into that you're-an-idiot look which only made her look even more beautiful than before. Oh God, I'm falling for my cat! The thought both thrilled and frightened me at the same time, my eyes must be practically bulging out of their sockets by now.

"You really are her," I said in a slight whisper.

"No dip Sherlock Holmes." She said in her sarcastic tone which caused a smirk to pop on my lips. I watched as she turned back around to admire herself in the mirror while I admired her from behind.

"I can't believe it, I am finally back to being normal!" She said with a huge smile on her face showing perfect, straight white teeth, but that was all ripped away when in the blink of an eye, there was my cat once more in the place where the girl had once been.

"Aw damn it!" She spat and I watched as her ears pinned back to her head but despite the anger in her voice, I noticed the sadness creep on her face and my heart broke.

"Well, I was normal." She said as I laid my hand on her head in comfort.

"It's ok Forest. Everything will be all right," I said as if I was soothing a frightened child. I was amazed at how well I could manage to keep my inner most feelings deep down inside, the last thing I needed her to know was that I fell totally in love with her which if my mother were here right now and heard that, she would slap me across the head saying you can't truly be in love with someone you hardly even know.

"You didn't act like it when I came up from the downstairs, you were afraid of me." She said looking up at me with those sad eyes and if she were a human again I bet there would be tears brimming them. I felt my smile fall into a frown.

"No, not afraid more shocked. I know I should have reacted more differently, you told me before you were a human before you turned into a cat so I should have been more open when you came up but I wasn't. I'm sorry for that." I said, though I did have to admit I was slightly frightened at her first appearance as a human.

"Well, you were always an idiot like that," She said with a smirk on her face. I soon found myself returning the smirk as well as she rubbed my hand like she always did.

"Well, I'm tired, night." She said heading to her bed I had bought her. I watched as she curled up into a ball and doze into a deep sleep.

Walking over, I looked down at her sleeping white form and tried to image the girl once more that she had turned into sleeping in my bed instead. Shaking my head at the thought I left her sleeping and headed to my room and headed into my bathroom. Splashing water on my face I looked at myself in the mirror, I wasn't bad looking, I had emerald green eyes with a light brown hair that did look a bit shaggy. I had small freckles dotting across my nose and cheeks like a bridge made of small brown stones. I had a prominent jaw line like my father but the soft face like my mother and I smiled.

"You look like a prized champion," I said to myself mocking my dad’s voice. Sighing, I changed into my boxers and climbed into my queen sized bed, closing my eyes, I tried to remember my parents but instead found myself dreaming of me and Forest together; I smiled even more and let the dream take over.

Chapter 5

Running through the woods as fast as my new body could carry me, I tried to call out to anyone who could hear me but all I heard was nothing but meowing. Spotting my house a few feet in front of me I high tailed it as fast as I could, I had hoped my family would be able to help me, would be able to show me how to turn back. Soon reaching the door I scratched at it, hoping the dogs inside would give my presence away, they were good at that despite them being so totally annoying and it worked. A chorus of barking sounded from behind the door with my grandmother's voice yelling at them to get back, I sat on the top stair calling out to her and when she opened the door I leaped up only to hear a scream and feel a hand swat me away. Landing on the ground stunned, I looked at my grandmother who was closing the door behind her, running up to it I tried calling out to her but she only chased me away with a broom.

Reaching the woods to catch my breath I then turned around to see my grandmother going back inside and the hurt finally hit me. Why did she do that to me? I thought. Can't she see that it was me?  The next day cops were at my front door, I watched them from a tree branch near the house, and I had stayed there all night hoping they would open the door to invite me in but nothing like that ever happened. Watching my grandmother pass off a picture of me to the cops I leaped down once more and padded up to her and the police. One officer bent down to stroke my fur and I tried to reach the picture but my grandmother only chased me away again, soon, I stopped showing myself but I never once left the house, even when I heard an officer tell my grandmother that they could not find me and the probability of me still being alive by now was slim to none.
