“I'm not a kid and it's not like I live far away at all. If you didn't realise, I live one door away,” I protested but took a hold if his hand so I could pull myself up off the sofa. Although our skin touched for a few seconds before I let go to brush my jeans off, I noticed that his hands were incredibly soft and just a tiny bit warm. I shook the thought out of my head and headed towards the door, Jason still insisting on following me. “Seriously, I only live next door. I'll be fine.”

“Please stop arguing and let me walk you to your house.” I let out a sigh of defeat and shrugged, waving goodbye to the others before Jason led me out of the house.

“We don't know what powers you have yet and I'm going to guess that for some strange reason, you haven't awoken yours.” He opened Scott's gate for me and I walked ahead of him, “So from now, I'm going to be keeping a close eye on you. I have this feeling that you're not just an average C Class Virus and you might be more than that.”

This conversation was beginning to feel slightly odd, I thought to myself as I walked up my pebbled pavement. I stopped at the door and turned to face Jason.

“I can honestly look out for myself. I'm sure that when my powers 'awaken', I'll be fine,” I laughed.

“That's what a lot of people think,” he told me, the tone in his voice hard, “But they're usually very wrong. I'm going to bribe Scott to let me live with him for a few weeks till your powers awaken. It might be a couple of days, it might be a couple of weeks but I need to be there to make sure nothing bad happens.”

“I don't need babysitting,” I told him pointedly.

“I know you don't that's why I'm not babysitting you. I'm simply making sure you don't... end up harming anyone.” He glanced down at my doormat that read 'Welcme' (the O had been worn away after time) and then looked back up at me, smiling. “Just trust me on this Hannah.” I nodded, finally giving in.

“Goodnight Hannah, sleep well,” he told me as I unlocked my door. I smiled and returned the goodbye, closing the door.

“Haaaaaanah,” I practically jumped as my mom popped up in front of me. “So, who's the cutie?” I blinked at the sudden question and realised my mom was speaking about Jason.

“Oh uh...” The sudden tense air from the conversation I'd been having a moment ago dissolved and I waved my hand at my mom, laughing. “It's just Jason, he lives next door with Scott, they're uh... boyfriends.” I let out another nervous laugh and scratched the back of my neck. I really hoped Scott wasn't able to read my mind or hear what I had just said. I had honestly meant to say brothers but boyfriends kinda just... slipped out.

“Aww well what a gentleman, walking you to your own house,” my mom cooed as I walked up the stairs.

“Shush mom. Anyway, I've got homework to finish off tonight, goodnight.” I vanished up into my bedroom and flopped onto my bed, rethinking about the last few words Jason has spoken to me.

I need to be there to make sure nothing bad happens.

He'd smiled at me afterwards but although his smile felt like it was meant to be reassuring for me, it felt like it was more of a desperate attempt to get me to agree. I had no idea what had happened in the past but he obviously didn't want time to repeat itself so I agreed.

It was almost unbelievable that I'd gotten hit by a car a few hours ago, survived and then found out I had special powers. Not only that but I also kind of made a group of new friends- excluding Scott who obviously didn't want to get to know me- and had a cute guy walk me home.

I flopped down onto my bed and held out my arm, reaching up towards the ceiling. Soon, I might find out what my powers are and what Class I am and the thought made my skin tingle with excitement.

I have this feeling that you're not just an average C Class Virus and you might be more than that.

If the air hadn't of been so tense at the time, that comment wouldn't have gone straight over my head. It was definitely an odd compliment of some sort. I grinned and rolled over, hugging my pillow with excitement. I could tell that from now on my life was going to be rather interesting.
