was in. He had been snared by his Demon’s Imprisonment skill.

“Easy, isn’t it? This is the power you carry, my little birdie. Keep slashing and it’ll be over.”

Austin’s eyes widened as he realized that there was a large smile on his face as he hacked into Vulbrik and as well as the added fire that sparked whenever it met flesh - or the demon’s thick skin.

Austin tried to stop, but his hands flowed naturally as if he was used to killing. He, however, wasn’t.

“Stop! Stop me, Aizen! Drop the barrier!”

Aizen kept quiet as Austin continued, slashing into Vubrik until the fatal blow was given, striking Vubrik in his brain with a simple downward swing.

“Good, my birdie. You’re doing better.”

“You’re… You’re controlling me!” Austin exclaimed as he threw Hell-Ax onto the ground, lying next to Vulbrik’s corpse. “How dare you!”

“Quiet.” He coldly remarked, shushing Austin temporarily.

“I have always been controlling you. Do you truly believe that your strength is your own? You weren’t born with a skill. I gave you this skill. I’m the reason your precious town wasn’t devastated. I gave you the power to fight in this cruel world… not so you can run around and waste it.” He snarled. “I need a mortal body and you will give it to me.”

“What if I don’t?”

“You signed the contract with your soul. You aren’t getting it back. Now… leave and return to the demon in the tower. He’ll grant you the power to reach the true heroes. There’s a man out there that has killed two demon lords in a smaller timespan, the legendary bodyguard. You don’t hold a candle to him. Not even an inch, so shut up and follow my orders.” He barked, frightening Austin with his cold and demanding tone.

He couldn’t refuse, deny, or get rid of him. Aizen was bonded to Hell-Ax, which was bonded to him. He could never throw the weapon away and get away from Aizen. He could only escape if his soul is purged, but that would come after his time is over.

Not until.

“Welcome the Hero of Howling! The hero that the foolish Holy Church intended on denouncing and disposing of. He saved us from the demon attack and destroyed the dungeon creating the monsters!” Vice exclaimed, pointing both hands at Austin. He received a few cheers, but they were half-hearted ones. None of them were truthful expressions.

Austin stood on a balcony overlooking a large crowd, full of fearful and distrustful citizens. None of them appeared overly happy at his presence. But Vice could care less as his job was done. He now had his scapegoat, the so-called “Hero of Howling”. An entity that he could pass the blame off to, as well as push all of his burdens and problems onto. It was perfect.

“He’s scheming against you, you know it, my little birdie,” Aizen told him.

Austin stood indifferent on the balcony, hearing both voices on his shoulder. However, they were both demons. The angels had fled his shoulders.

“I am the hero… I will do as I’m ordered… or so I’m told.”

Austin didn’t intend to give up. His newest mission was to rid himself of Aizen. And he intended on doing it soon. Before he could be corrupted and bend only to Aizen’s orders.

He would be free soon.
