I opened my mouth to answer him but an embarrassing sound came out of my mouth. He chuckled at my nervousness while I looked down in embarrassment. I could feel my cheeks heating up but thankfully, he just handed me my pencil and walked away without saying anything.
Then, I remembered something really important.
βHeyβ¦Alex!β I called out to him. He stopped walking and turned to look at me. He looked surprised, probably over the fact that I called him by his name. I then smiled and said, βThank youβ¦ for standing up for meβ.
Alex smiled back and said, βYouβre welcome, Cassieβ before he continued to walk away.
For the first time in my life, the pain I felt when I thought about Derek was slowly vanishing.
All because of this mysterious guy with an unknown motive.
