Thank you. Young Mandy remarked as Mandy bled out, which occurred several minutes after she began sobbing. I will atone for our sins. I will pray for your happiness… If I could do it over again, I would. Just to be by your side. To be united with you. This time without hurting you.

Sometime later, Rech appeared. He confronted Rik about Mandy’s death, but Rik informed him of Ashley being kidnapped by him as well as exposing his crimes. Rech nodded as he understood who was standing on the right side. He ordered his men to secure the crime scene and get witness reports to ensure Rik was telling the truth, even though Rech trusted his word. Nevertheless, he had to conduct an investigation to verify the facts and strip lies apart, even if the case was an easy one.

“You can go free, you’re not under arrest for anything,” Rech informed him. “I’ll deal with the aftermath.”

Rik furrowed his brows. “You aren’t scheming?”

Rech grinned. “I see that’s your opinion of me. I’m strangely honored.” He sarcastically said. “Well… I do want to know why you’ve been marked as a suspicious person?”

Rik glared at him, but Rech didn’t back down. “Fine, I don’t have time for this. I made some risky decisions in the last city I was in. That’s why.”

“That doesn’t tell me enough, but… go on ahead.” He said, stepping out of his way. Rik stared at him, raising an eyebrow. “Go and make sure she feels safe. Make sure she isn’t scarred by what happened today.”

Rik nodded, turning away from him and leaving with his party. Rech watched as they left, staring at them intensely.

“Sir, why did we let them go?” Caio asked. “Don’t we hold them until after the case is over?”

Rech glanced at him before looking away. “You think we can hold him, Caio? Especially with how much anger he has bottled up. I don’t want to be on the receiving end of his outburst. You think you can handle it?”

Caio shook his head. “I don’t think so, sir.”

“Then we’re on the same page. Let’s finish up here and get everything sorted. Make sure Grant and the others get as much evidence of Mandy’s crimes. We need to make sure people understand that he’s a monster.”

Caio nodded, turning away but stopping halfway in. “What about his cause of death? Should we say murder or…?”

“Heart attack. Make it the official cause of death. His heart gave up on him. Is that clear?” Rech ordered.

Caio nodded. “I’ll get it done. He’ll be remembered as the monster he is.”

“Good… let’s avoid making him out as a hero. Rik would kill me if I did. And I intend on serving the city for decades more.”

“And I will be here to serve you, sir,” Caio remarked, bowing his head while kneeling.

Rech smiled. “Get up, Caio. Let’s go. We have much to do.”

“Choose whatever you want.” He instructed his party. They nodded, looking around the crowded marketplace. Rik watched as they went around to different stalls. Eric purchased a leather sheath for his twin blades while Zoe bought snacks. They grabbed their purchases and swiftly returned to Rik’s side. They all stared at Ashley as she went around the marketplace, searching for something that caught her attention.

While she went around to different stalls, Rik’s eyes were attracted by a similar sight. It was the bronze necklace that he had seen earlier and the same one Ashley wore. He glanced at Ashley, biting his lip. “Watch over her, Eric.” He ordered. Eric nodded, glancing around. It was the day after Mandy’s death and the sun was towering over them. There weren’t many shadows for Eric to utilize, instead, deciding to use his feet and walk towards her. This left Zoe to guard Rik, following him to the stall selling the jewelry. The seller, a young girl, glanced up at him as approached the stall.

“Oh, you actually came back.” She remarked, both eyebrows raised. “I was expecting you to never return.”

Rik nodded his head, half-paying attention to her. He stared at the bronze necklace. “3 silvers, right?”

The young girl nodded. “Same as usual.”

“I’ll take it.” He told her. The young girl nodded, grabbing the bronze necklace and wrapping it in cloth before handing it to him.

“You don’t want anything else?” She asked.

Rik shook his head. He dug through a cloth money bag attached to his belt and handed the silvers to her. “There’s nothing else I want-” He looked down at the necklace “Just this.”

“Master?” Ashley muttered, staring at the necklace in his hand. “You bought the same one.”

Rik nodded with a small smile. “Now we’re matching, right?”

Ashley smiled. “We are.”

Rik cracked a larger smile. “If we buy two more, then we all match. Like a family.”

Ashley’s eyes widened. “A family? We’re a family?” She asked, her voice quivering.

Rik tilted his head. “We aren’t?”

Ashley shook her head, tears bubbling in the corner of her eyes. With one teary voice, she answered his question vocally. “We are the hunters”

Rik nodded, glancing at Eric and Zoe. They nodded their heads in agreement, kneeling and bowing their heads. “You’re right. Burn heaven and unroot hell… because we are the Demon Hunters. We are family.”

“Is the army ready or have you failed already?” Elaine asked fellow Shadow, Brian Hell.

“In one month,” Brian grumbled.

Elaine nodded her head. “One month? I can’t wait.”

“Locket will be destroyed in one month. Rike and that elf will be dead. Locket will fall and my honor will be restored.”

Elaine scoffed at him. “Enough blabbering about your foolish honor, let’s speed up the process. We need action, don’t we?”

“I agree. Let’s get the ball moving… call the others. We need everybody… for the Assault of Locket.”

Hello All!

Thank you for reading the third season of Demon Hunter. The characters have changed tremendously since we last saw them. This season adds a lot of character development to Ashley and hints at the pasts of Zoe and Eric. The future seasons will see the other main characters [Rik, Eric, and Zoe] change and develop. This series has been renewed for seasons four to six, so there is enough time to explore every character in great or greater detail.

For anybody wondering about this series, Demon Hunter: Season Three is the first Historia series to have a theme that the story was built on. In the past, if there was a theme, it was often accidental. However, with every series moving forward, there will be a main theme to the stories I tell.

Anyways, with all of that done, here is my opinion on the series. Some parts bogged down the writing process - mostly episode three (*shakes out of fear of that episode*). The final episode also took longer than it should’ve with the first third being written on July 1st; the other two-thirds being written on July 15th and 16th. Even so, I am really impressed by how the series came out. I felt like I put my best foot forward for this series and I hope it’s apparent to you, the readers.

Well, to end this short rant, I will announce the next The Underground Trail series, which is under the label of Year III.
