βI thought you said you were ready to go,β replied the Queen.
βWe are ready to go, but we want you to meet someone first,β said Stephanie.
The Pixies took off into hiding, when the King and
Queen showed up. They were hiding amongst the gardens. The children called them out of their hiding places.
βTwixie, Chewie, Goober,β called out Bret, βcome out and meet our parents.β
The Pixies were hesitant to come out.
βCome on out,β said Robin. βDo not be scared.β
The Pixies had finally come out from their hiding spots to meet the childrenβs parents.
βHi there,β said Twixie.
βOh no, Pixies,β screamed the Queen.
βDidnβt we tell you not to be hanging around with the Pixies?β asked the King.
βYes, but they are not who you think they are,β replied Bret. βThese Pixies are the ones that have been protecting the gardens. They have been trying their best to keep the bad Pixies away.β
βOh, really now?β asked the King, with his hands on his hips, tapping his foot.
βYes, s-s-ir,β stuttered Goober, βhave we b-been doing a good job?β
βYes, you have been doing a good job,β replied the
King, βbut how do we really know you three arenβt the REAL trouble makers?β
βWe have already seen the bad Pixies Father and they were ruining everything,β replied Stephanie,β we all watched them, after we climbed into the tree.β
The children tried for quite a while, to convince their parents, that these Pixies were not the ones that have been causing trouble and ruining the gardens. The children finally gave up and decided to show their parents, that these three Pixies were not lying about what they were saying. They told their parents to climb a tree and wait for the Pixies that were causing all of the trouble. While the King and Queen climbed the tree, the three children and the three Pixies hid in a little hole, not too far away from the garden. Not too long after that, the trouble making Pixies had shown up to do their dirty work. They stomped all over the flowers; they dug some up while laughing and giggling. The King and Queen did not have any other choice, but to believe the children and the good Pixies. The King yelled out.
βHEY, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING THERE?β
His deep voice happened to scare the bad Pixies away. They ran as fast as their little legs could carry them.
The King and Queen climbed out of the tree and wiped themselves off. They let the children and the good Pixies hang around with each other. Now, both the King and the Queen know who has really been making a mess of their gardens. They have wondering for such a long time, who has been doing it.
- Chapter Two -
The Big Storm
βOkay kids, I think that should be enough for the night,β started Dad, βwe have to get you guys off to bed now.β
βAw, please, can you read some more,β begged Bret.
βNot right now son, you have to go to bed, it is well past your bedtime,β replied Mom.
The children were yawning. That is when Mom and Dad really knew they were worn out and very tired. It was about an hour and a half past their bed time. Mom and Dad were planning a day trip for tomorrow and they did not want the children to end up being too tired to go out anywhere. They were thinking about taking the children to the zoo and stop off at a store for some ice cream when they were done. Maybe even take them on some rides at the fair. The children did not know this. Mom and Dad wanted to keep it as a surprise.
The children did not feel like arguing with their parents. They knew they were tired and had to get their
sleep. Tony and Cynthia picked the children up off of the couch and took them all upstairs to bed.
βGood night Mom and Dad, see you in the morning,β said Stephanie, yawning.
βSee you in the morning sweetie, get some sleep,β replied Dad.
Mom and Dad left Stephanieβs bedroom and left the door ajar.
βGood night Mom and Dad, sleep tight, donβt let the bedbugs bite,β said Bret.
βGood night little guy,β replied Mom.
Dad turned on the nightlight, which was plugged into the wall, above Bretβs dresser and turned off the ceiling light.
They took Robin into her room and set her down on her bed.
βI have to use the bathroom first,β said Robin.
βOkay,β replied Mom.
While Robin went to the bathroom, Mom and Dad, pulled the covers down on her bed, so all Robin had to do, when she had come out of the bathroom, was just to climb in.
Robin ran out of the bathroom and jumped into her bed. She usually doesnβt do this when she is overtired.
"Can we please stay up, just a little bit longer Daddy? I want you to read to us some more."
"I am sorry honey, you have to get to bed to get your beauty sleep," replied Dad.
"What's beauty sleep?" asked Robin.
"Well, it's when you get just enough sleep," said Dad, "that you would still look just as beautiful in the morning, as you do now."
Mom had the biggest grin on her face.
"Okay Daddy, sounds good to me," replied Robin.
She kissed her Mommy and Daddy good night and put her head down onto her pillow.
"Time to get my beauty sleep, so I can wake up in the morning and look just as beautiful tomorrow, as I do now."
Mom and Dad giggled, as they got up off Robin's bed and left her bedroom.
"I really think the kids were enjoying that book," said Cynthia, "so much in fact, they didn't even want to go to bed."
"I am so glad you picked up that book," Tony agreed.
