Antoine woke up early, ready to apologize to Tamika for hopefully the last time. As soon as he woke up, he read the letter again. He was certain that she would forgive him and everything would be alright.
Tamika had other plans for the day. While Antoine was confident and happy about the chance of getting her back, she was writing him a letter.
Antoine,
Happy 18th birthday!! Since this is the last time you will ever hear from me, I will tell you everything thatβs been on my mind lately.
To start off, what Iβm going to do is not your fault, so donβt feel guilty. I love you more than I love myself sometimes. When I found out you played me like that, it really hurt me. To find out that the only reason you hooked up with me was for a bet. I thought I knew you better than that, but I guess not.
Youβre lower than low. And to say I felt sorry for you for what Kammie and Joseph did to you, but you donβt deserve my pity. But I canβt stay mad at you. I forgive you, and I hope you forgive me. By the time you finish this letter, I will be gone. Donβt try to find me βcause itβs too late. Just tell my family that I love them and bye.
Love always and forever,
Tamika
After Tamika finished writing, she left home and went to school early. As soon as she made it, she went to Antoineβs locker. She kissed the letter, wishing it was Antoine, and taped it to the front of his locker. She walked down the quiet halls reminiscing over her life. She walked to her favorite room in the school, the music room. She sat at the piano and began playing βYesterdayβ by Mary Mary and praying that God will forgive her.
While this was happening, Antoine was on his way to school to see Tamika. When he made it, it was 7:55 am. He went to his locker to put up his books and he found the letter. He read the letter and quickly realized what she planned to do. Antoine began thinking about where she could be. Then he called an ambulance in case he was too late.
7:58 am. Tamika sat at the piano with the knife in her hand staring at the clock. βAt 8:00 am it would all be over,β she thought. Antoine figured out that she was in the music room, and rushed to save her.
Tick-tock, tick-tock. One minute left before the tragic end. Faster and faster Antoine ran, but unfortunately it was worthless. The clock in the music room was two minutes fast. He knew this but prayed that Tamika would change her mind. He ran faster with tearing running down his face. He knew it was too late. He felt the pain of losing her pulsate throughout his body like his heartbeat. But he couldnβt stop running because there was still a small chance that she was still alive waiting for him to take her into his arms and make everything right again.
Tamika put the knife to her wrist and said one last prayer as she began to bleed to death. The white and black keys quickly turned red and black as her blood covered the piano. She began to become unconscious as she heard the sound of the ambulance. The door began to open and she heard somebody yell her name, but they were too late. In her mind she said, βTime of death 8:01 am. Lord, please forgive me for my horrible sin.β That was the end of Tamika Reneeβ Anderson.
β1, 2, 3, clear! Again. 1, 2, 3, clear! Sheβs back.β
βWelcome back, baby. You really scared me,β Tamika heard somebody say as they kissed her forehead. She slowly opened her eyes even though she was still confused about what was happening. The first and only thing that she saw was Antoine surround by a beautiful, bright light as if he was an angel. He was holding her hand and said, βItβs never too late.β
Tamika then realized she was in Heaven. Her own personal Heaven on Earth. The things that she was trying to run away from were the things that she needed the most. This was where she needed to be, and who she needed to be with.
