out on desire
And the press is made full
Easy to lose track of time
Gotta sit back and be still
And sip the savory wine
Our wine
We drinks our wine
Such are our thirsting
Hearts entwined
So hold fast to your embers
I’ll hold fast to mine
We will sit back and be still
And sip the savory wine

Misfit
By: joe morrow

I’m stuck in this fit, misfit sort of way
But I’ll push through, and I won’t quit
Till my dyin’ day
Are we living our own lives
Or givin it up for some unholy sacrifice
Fallen in line

I’m gathering evidence against this scheme
In its’ malevolence has us all chasing somebody elses’ dream
Instead of finding a dragon to slay
Before my free spirit drifts away
Or getting my sword out of its’ sheath
And doin’ some battle for the king
Or saving that princess from her uneasy stay
Pushing the demons back beyond the gray
Before my lifesblood drips away
Before my lifesbloos drips away

Some say society, now there’s the thing to blame
But in truth it’s only you or me, who keeps from putting fuel to that flame
And finding a dragon to slay
Before my free spirit drifts away
Or getting my sword out of its’ sheath
And doin’ some battle for the king
Or saving that princess from her uneasy stay
Pushing the demons back beyond the gray
Before my lifesblood drips away
Before my lifesblood drips away

Mistake
By: joe morrow

Oh I made a big mistake
Cuz I could not shut my trap
Runnin off at the mouth
Before my brain could even act

Like I lost my tender hand
Like a compassionless man
Here to build you up but tearin you down
I made a big mistake

I made a big big mistake
Flowers will help when I get them there
Could you please forgive this man
Don’t ever think I could cease to care

Like I lost my tender hand
Like a compassionless man
Here to build you up but tearin you down
I made a big mistake

Mistakes and All
By: joe morrow

In my mind I’m goin over
Green hills I remember where the sun
Shined down on me
My child like heart won’t be dismembered
For therein burns the ember where the sun
Shined down on me

But I won’t get carried away with myself
The sun never shines through closed doors
And I won’t get buried in illusions of wealth
Cuz that can’t be all that this livin is for
And friends don’t tary keep your anchor in the source
And dwell in the place that restores

There were times when I went rotten feelin half forgotten
Like the light of day would never see my face again
But there were those with doors wide open
Present and prayerfully hopin that the light and love would consume and cover me

So I won’t get carried away with myself
The sun never shines through closed doors
And I won’t get buried in illusions of wealth
Cuz that can’t be all that this livin is for
And friends don’t tary keep your anchor in the source
And dwell in the place that restores
In my mind I’m goin over
Green hills I remember where the sun
Shined down
On me

Papa’s Son
By: joe morrow

I was there when you were young
A little less square when you were young
You will be too before your done
You can’t help it you’re your papa’s son

How long was back when
How strong was I then
Playin my part in time
Straighten up and stand in line
As the chaos folds in

If you got your but kicked it’s a lesson learned
We always learn better when we crash and burn
Just how deeply that sinks in
Depends on what(who) you’re doin and where you’ve been

How long was back when
How strong was I then
Playin my part in time
Straighten up and stand in line
As the chaos folds in

You will be there when he is young
A little less square when he is young
He will be too before he’s done
He can’t help it he’s his papa’s son

Raining
By: joe morrow

Walkin whistling a brand new song
On that driveway after school 9/10 of a mile, 9/10 of a smile
If it was sunshine, or even if it was raining
I’d sing about love and happiness
Them good good things gonna get no regrets, Keepin in mind
Keepin in mind, there’s gonna be some sunshine
Gonna be a little raining’
But winter comes and its’ bitter cold
Got no song to warm my soul, Cuz sometimes
Sometimes, there might be sunshine
But it’s too damn cold for raining’
Like when the situations’ getting hairy
Like when the whole worlds getting scarry
Reapin’ what we’ve been sowin’ is comin’ to fruit
Bound to happen sooner or later, (we are but men)
But we still have a neighbor and have an enemy
Still have a brother that’s in need
Got a lot of work, got a lot of work to do
But keepin in mind
Sometimes
There’s gonna be some rainin’

Reap
By: Joe Morrow

I can’t put the cat back in the bag
It’s already been let out
If you don’t like what the cats’ about
Go complain to a stone
It’s just the truth the truth I know
For the bible tells me so
And history to boot
Just like the earth moves round the sun
And the moon catches our shadow
Some things are hard to be undone
If a nation rises it’s bound to fall
Judgement happens to us all
Even Rome fell
From its’ heaven to its’…
But it all gets so personalized
When we see it through our own eyes
First hand
Suddenly it’s like this has never happened before
This kind of hate this kind of war
Where have you been?
With first hand pain and first hand grief
You’re looking for some first hand thief
Look in the mirror friend and you will see
The steeler of your sanity
We should’ve known
Should’ve seen it comin
We should’ve known
We reap just want we’ve sown

I don’t wanna be one to criticize but good people open up your eyes
We never had that much security
But each next breath it is a gift and if that doesn’t help to uplift
Give me or somebody a call
But it all gets so personalized
When we see it through our own eyes
First hand
Suddenly it’s like this has never happened before
This kind of hate this kind of war
Where have you been?
With first hand pain and first hand grief
Look in the mirror friend and you will see
The steeler of your sanity
We’ve had too many partners in our beds
Whorin’ around and lost our heads
We should’ve known
Should’ve seen it comin
We should’ve known
We reap just what we’ve sown

I Can’t put the cat back In the bag it’s already been let out
If you don’t like what the cats about…

Screwed
By: joe morrow

If you see the writin’ on the wall
Please do not call
I’m beginnin to see quite clear
There’s some things I just don’t need to hear

But if it is as you say, we’re all screwed anyway
If it is as you say, I got some, got some livin to do
If it is as you say, how bout you

An open mind is hard to find because of what you gotta be open to
Nobody likes the changin’ even if the changings due
We’ve been here before people and I’m tellin you I hope we pull through

If it’s not as you say, we’re not screwed anyway
If it’s not as you say, I still got some, got some livin’ to do
If it’s not as you say, well how bout you

If you see the writin’ on the wall
Please do not call

Sponge
By: joe morrow

My mind
Is not your sponge
And my spirit
Is not for sale
You could not buy it anyway
Not for all of the oil in the world

I’m stuck here in this machine
Only because it’s where i landed
Causmic framers i must believe
Are laughin out loud
Sorry bout your luck
Oh my mind is not your sponge

Listen up peoples

i got this weapon of mass destruct
it’s called my instinct, hammer in my hand
if you haven’t been deafened people listen up
it just so happens most of us are smarter than the president
that’s not sayin much

and i’m stuck here in this machine
only because it’s where i landed
this countries framers i must believe
would be screamer out loud
it’s not how we planned it

SRNDP80’s Shore
By: joe morrow

Who we are and where we’re goin
Trustin travelers just headin home
And there’s wind for sailin and we own it
Underneath these mount carroll stars

Sail me away again
On towards serendipities shore
I’m drownin in the wind my friend
Wind full of sail and wanting more

In out tossed around boy we’ve known that
Kicked and fading, left to die
But rhythm and dancin’ help me unknow that
Wings all stretched out and ready to fly

Sail me away again
On towards serendipities shore
I’m drownin in the wind my friend
Wind full of wing and wanting more
I’m drownin in the wind my friend
Wind full of sail and wanting more

Strange (38 buck street blues)
By: joe morrow

Came home one night not more than three weeks ago
Turned on the light, the light won’t go
Ain’t got no gas-o-line to fuel this house
Sat round by candle light one night and got stone drunk like a louse
But I’m bored with that life in it’s complexities
I’m just a simple Man you see
It all leaves me
Feelin strange
Left out in life’s cold rain
Cold soaks through to my bones and it’s heavy on my brain

People ben passin on both left and right
Who we all loved so strong and damn the tears they fill our eyes
People been passin on both left and right
Who we all loved so strong and damn it’s hard to say good bye
And I try to sort through memories
Sort out the good and bad but it does not come with ease
It all leaves me
Feelin strange
Left out in life’s cold rain
Cold soaks through to my bones and it’s heavy on my brain

Two definitions of done
By: joe morrow

I sit and think about my human condition with relation to the truth
Strung along by some shiney red apple caught up in it’s pursuit
I’m not sure but maybe you know exactly what I’m talkin about

Until this is done
Won’t find freedom
I’m not runnin me I’m bein run
Until this is done
Won’t find freedom
I’m not runnin me I’m bein run

Little children won’t you listen close avoid this anxiety
The perspective that matters in living is living compassionately
That does not mean
That does not mean
Letting everything slide
It means building and shaping and changing and growing new knowing in life

Until this is done
Won’t find freedom
I’m not runnin me I’m bein run
Till this is done
Won’t find freedom
I’m not runnin me
I’m bein run

So much thought is put into investment of dollars
Way more than time or self
It’s a simple message
