How to ride, fuck I can teach her how to ride alright.
I close my eyes and shake the thoughts from my mind. The last thing she needs is for someone else to be objectifying her. Yes, she was probably one of the most beautiful women that Iβve ever seen in my life accompanied by the fact that she has been through hell and back and is still standing which makes her one of the strongest people I have ever met. I came up here to relax, try and reset my body and mind. The last time I had sex I hadnβt been able to finish, part of me already knows that if I were to lay with Dela I wouldnβt have that problem. This wasnβt the time to be thinking about that though. Not now. Not while she was still so fucking broken.
βYou okay?β she asks, breaking me out of my internal war.
βYeah, here youβre going to ride behind me.β I sit down on my bike and get comfortable before I reach over for her. βPut one foot here and swing your other leg up and over the back. Be careful of the muffler.β
She gets on without any trouble but she is too far away from me. One good bump and she will fly off.
βI know itβs a lot but you need to get much closer to me if you plan on staying on the back of this bike. Wrap your arms around my waist and hold on tight.β I grab one of her arms and pull her tight against my back. I turn around and put my helmet on her. She clicks the lock together and wraps her arms around me again. When she snuggles against my back her small hands balling into my sweater, I know she is ready to go. βHold on tight.β She nods and we take off.
I try to think of anything besides the fact that she is right behind me but with every turn and every bend I feel her body mold further into mine. I canβt help but wonder what sheβs like when sheβs not broken down like this. The girl has gone through so much in the past few years and she has made it out when there are so many that will never make it out. I want to know more about her and not just all the horrible trauma, I want to know what kind of person it takes to make it out of that nightmare in one piece.

βOkay, Iβve looked up everything that I could find about the Children of Gaia. There was a large following back in the seventies but then it died out. I donβt know if itβs the same rules or beliefs but based on what Dela has told us, it is. This Emerson has some fucking balls to think he can run a whole fucking cult without anyone figuring it out.β Cody drops a few sheets of paper down in front of me.
βWhat did they say happened to the last cult?β I ask, trying to get an idea of everything going on.
βHe was killed,β Cody replied matter-of-factly.
βSounds like Emerson is on the same path,β Spark replies this time. βWhere is Dela? Is she okay?β
βI let her take a shower. You know I only have the outdoor bath at the cabin. I let her change but she couldnβt wash. At least here there is indoor plumbing.β
βThank god for that,β Dela says as she walks out of the side room where the shower is. Her hair is wet but itβs a completely different color than it was when I first met her. Itβs a deep blonde almost pinkish red color. Her eyes are light green but there are little flecks of brown in them. Her face is cut in a few places but even the abrasions donβt take away from her beauty.
βWow, donβt you clean up nice,β Cody says from the side of me. Itβs his clothes that she is wearing. Out of all of us he is the smallest.
She smiles slightly before she looks away, βIβll take that as a compliment.β
βIt is. You look very nice,β I say, my voice huskier than normal.
βWe are going over what we know about this specific cult. Do you want to come over here and help us?β Brendan speaks again, the brusqueness of his tone shocking the smile right off Delaβs face.
βSure. I will do whatever I can.β
There are a few pictures that Cody was able to find of what the inside of the cult community house looked like in the past. Of course, no one knew that Emerson was operating one here so there are no pictures of that one.
βThis isnβt where Iβm from.β
βNo, this community was formed back in the seventies but maybe some things are the same or similar?β I open up the photos wider so she can see all of them.
βThis.β She points directly at one of the photos of a statue. βWe have one of these in every room. I donβt even know what it is.β
βItβs a carving of what folks believe the goddess Gaia looks like.β
She shrugged her shoulders and looked back at that photo. βI guess that makes sense, I donβt know what we were supposed to do with them but Emerson made sure that we all had one.β
βDid you know that you were joining a cult when you got with him?β
Dela looked at Brendan with complete disgust. βAre you trying to say that I intentionally got myself kidnapped and held captive?β
Brendan knew when he was barking up the wrong tree. βNo, not at all. Maybe your religious beliefs are similar, that is all I meant.β
βNo, I didnβt know it was a cult. I knew that he was heavy into protecting the environment and that he really wanted kids but that was the extent.β
βWyatt, do you think they will come here for her?β
βHe will, or he
