Winter laughed again. โTell her to try doing something else, like an activity or something.โ She then focused on me, her pale green eyes the most entertained Iโd ever seen. โNow, try again.โ
I gave Freya another look, before taking a deep breath and making my second attempt, closing my eyes, and trying to put all my focus on Lexi.
Lexi stared at her dashboard, her sister having just confirmed that Sam saw her. She couldnโt decide if she was excited now or mortified, especially since Winter was apparently laughing at her.
Dammit.
If it was for Sam, then she just needed to suck it up. The more ridiculous, the better, though she was kind of trying to aim for arousing and seductive.
Sighing heavily, she glanced at the backseat, before sliding her seat back a little, and then climbing back there. Once she was on her hands and knees, she hesitated, before beginning to slowly move her hips rhythmically, putting her whole body into the deliberate suggestive motion, pretending like she was grinding against Samโs rear seductively.
When she was younger, and kind of loose, sheโd once seriously considered being a stripper just for the fun of it.
Just for the attention.
Sheโd never want to do something like that now, but she could do it for Sam. Might as well put her moves to good use, since she had never really used them for their designed purpose โ getting as many tips as possible.
โHoly shit, Lexi.โ
Winter laughed again, reaching down to squeeze my inner thigh just below something else that was reacting to what I was imagining Lexi doing. โSheโs pretty good,โ she mused, only to laugh again when Freya gave her a confused look, also noticing my reaction.
I met Winterโs gaze, just unable to believe that what I was seeing was really what Lexi was doing, though it felt different this last time. I felt more there, rather than it only being like an image in my head.
I was also shocked that Winter grabbed me just now like she did. Another inch and sheโd be grabbing something else entirely.
I cleared my throat. โUmm, I guess go ahead and tell her she can come back. Obviously, I need to practice, but I think Iโve got the hang of it enough to try it on my own.โ
Winter grinned. โI donโt know,โ she teased. โI kind of want to see what else sheโs got up her sleeve. Most fun Iโve had in forever.โ
I scoffed. โIโll be sure to ask if she can give you a demonstration later.โ
โSure,โ she agreed, with another chuckle. โDoubt sheโd want to, but you can ask!โ
โI can hear you guys, you know,โ Lexi unexpectedly said.
We both looked at the phone, with Heidi looking embarrassed now. โUmm, I sort of put it on speakerphone. Sorry.โ
Winter just laughed harder, probably knowing she could be heard and only pretending to act surprised, enjoying everyone elseโs reactions more than anything.
Although, I had to admit, it was nice to see her laugh. Nice to see this side of her again, after experiencing it briefly when we first met. However, her hands were all over me now, and while I didnโt mind, I also didnโt want to be in the mood right now, even if I already was a little.
Thus, I decided to get up and get something cooking for an early dinner since most of us had missed lunch. We had plenty of stuff to make the same fajita-like dish Winter made for us earlier in the week, and I knew she should at least be hungry. Plus, I wanted to have something to do with my hands so I could try not to think about everything that weโd discovered today, as well as to come to grips with this new reality that I might be able to essentially spy on people from a distance.
No wonder the government didnโt want me to know what I was capable of.
Although, I still kind of wondered if there was something worse than swapping bodies, copying powers, and being able to spy. I mean, there had to be, considering they already knew I was aware of the body-switching and they knew Iโd soon learn of the superpower mimicking too. Not to mention, I didnโt feel like me being able to spy on others was much more invasive than what Winter could do, though my ability might be less limited by distance.
Hard to say at this point.
Either way, I was kind of at the point where I really just didnโt want to think too much about any of it. Instead, Iโd rather focus on my family. I was glad that Lily had been able to take care of Rose and Heidi had taken care of Eden while all this was going on, because I wasnโt in any condition to attend to their needs.
But that just made me feel bad.
My kids needed me, and I couldnโt leave it all to everyone else.
Winter had begun helping me in the kitchen, seamlessly being an extra pair of hands without having to talk. Which was honestly really nice. But when I noticed Rose stirring upstairs, I decided to leave the rest to her so I could make sure my daughter was alright. After all, in the last year since sheโd been with us, sheโd never really cried before.
Definitely never cried so hard she was sobbing.
I made it there just in time too. When I sat down on her bed, her red eyes popped open, only for her to focus on me and immediately sit up to bury her head against my upper stomach. I just held onto her while she took a few shaky breaths, gently rubbing the middle of her back to help comfort her.
Even though I knew I wasnโt to blame for any of this, I still felt bad. Iโd worked with her and Lexi only a week ago, to get the items out of Lexiโs room that had bad feelings attached to them, all of which were
