His tongue glides along the seam of my lips, coaxing it open and delving deep inside. I hear a moan of pleasure, and it takes a few seconds to realize it came from me. My hands work up the back of his neck and glide into his hair. It’s a touch longer than it was the last time I saw him and oh so silky and soft.
I can feel his entire body pressed against mine, hard and unforgiving. Oh and I do mean hard in places I’ve never felt before. At least not from Matthew. My entire body feels alive and on fire as I wiggle against him, seeking out more contact, more everything. Each time I rub against his erection, a surge of moisture gathers between my legs. It’s the first time I’ve ever experienced anything so…animalistic from just a kiss.
But this isn’t just a kiss.
This is like holding a grenade and pulling the pin.
It’s terrifying yet thrilling at the same time.
And I want more.
Matthew is the first one to pull back, releasing my lips and gasping for oxygen. “Holy shit,” he mumbles, as he tries to come to terms with what just happened.
“Wow,” I whisper, placing a shaky hand over my rapidly beating heart. My body still tingles with desire, a foreign feeling I’ve never experienced when kissing Matthew before.
He brings his thumb up and traces my swollen lips. “You were saying?” When I give him a look of question, he adds, “About you and me.”
Oh.
That.
I think the burning question about whether or not there’s any spark between us was just answered. Not only did it flicker, it combusted magnificently. There’s definitely something there, and now I have to decide if I want to continue exploring it or not.
Who am I kidding?
If there are more kisses like that, I’d be game for not only exploring it but dropping my clothes and exploring other things too.
“Oh, that. It was nothing. Nothing at all.”
Chapter Five
Mason
What the hell was that?
I just kissed my brother’s girlfriend…and liked it.
A lot.
So much so, I’m standing in front of her with a hard-on, my lips burning for one more taste.
I take a step back to give myself some much-needed air, but it doesn’t help. I’m drawn to her heavily lidded hazel eyes. They’re a gorgeous combination of brown and green with gold flecks, and so expressive. I can see every emotion swirling within. I don’t think I’ve ever been so attracted to a pair of eyes before in my life.
“I, uh, should probably go,” she mutters, taking her own step back and glancing around the room. When her eyes land on the small clutch she arrived with, she hurries over to retrieve it and holds it closely beneath her elbow. “Thank you for dinner.”
“You’re welcome.” I open my mouth, not sure if I want to invite her to stay or blurt out the words I’m supposed to speak. There’s only one reason my brother accepted her dinner invitation, and that’s to check off one of the three items on his list of demands. Only, I’m not sure I can do it.
At least not right now.
He just told me I had to break up with her before he gets back. He didn’t say it had to be done tonight, even though the opportunity may have presented itself well. It just doesn’t feel right in this moment.
“Do you have big plans tomorrow?” I ask, escorting her to the front door.
We step into the hallway and head for the elevator. “I’m going to stop in and check on Dolly and see if we’ve had any adoption requests. Maybe even take her for a ride. One of the other volunteers is taking care of the cats and dogs, so I volunteered for barn duty.”
As the elevator descends, it stops on one of the lower floors, the doors revealing two older gentlemen. The first thing I notice is the way their eyes peruse Kyla head to toe. The taller of the two catches me glaring and quickly averts his gaze. The other man doesn’t seem to notice I’m even inside the car with them but could probably tell me exactly what size bra cup Kyla wears.
I pull her into my arms and kiss her once more. I wish I could say it was solely for their benefit, but that would be a lie. I want to kiss her again just as much as I want to show these assholes she’s with me.
“How about I meet you there? I’d love to meet Dolly,” I whisper, sliding my thumb over the apple of her cheek.
Her eyes light up. “Really? You’d want to spend your Sunday morning checking on a horse?” She seems truly surprised by my suggestion, and I realize my mistake. I want to meet the horse. My brother would rather work on his latest deal. But there’s no going back now.
Shrugging, I reply, “Sure. I can work in the afternoon.”
The elevator dings, signaling our arrival on the bottom floor. The two men file out and head straight for the bar, the room much fuller than it was a few hours ago. With her fingers entwined with mine, I step off the elevator behind her and slowly make our way to the front entrance.
“I was going to go around ten. Does that work for you?”
“Ten is fine,” I state as we approach the door. I notice the doorman scurrying off to retrieve Kyla’s car, which means we only have a few minutes left of our time together.
“Great. I’ll meet you there?”
“Yep,” I reply, catching movement out of the corner of my eye. It’s the first time I see the action of The Tower firsthand. There are people milling around the lobby, chatting about their next business deal or how successful they were this past week. Women flood the bar area, all dressed to the nines in
