โNo,โ James said.
โWhat do you mean, no?โ Osay said in an irritated voice. โWe had earlier decided on this scheme. Isnโt it?
โThereโs a slight change in plans,โ James said. โWe need you to show us the Second Page first, before the Scavenger takes out the First Page. Alternatively, you go to the Library and put the Second Page inside the Book and call us. We will then put the First Page to create the power source. In fact...โ
James paused as he saw warriors emerging out of the bushes.
He continued, โCall off your warriors. Or should I say, call off your warriors... Osay.โ
โSo you now know.โ The voice seemed surprised. โI suspected as much. Anyway, by dishonouring the deal, you have chosen death.โ
โBut why would you be so reluctant in putting up the Second Page? I am sure you have it,โ James said.
Osay laughed. โWhat are you implying?โ
โArcher,โ James said.
Archer raised his hand, revealing a black device that was beeping with a red light.
Osayโs voice came. โIs that a -โ
โYes. Itโs a detonator,โ James said. โYou are now at our mercy.โ
Osay laughed. โOh? Really? How is that?โ
โWell, if you donโt lay out the Second Page,โ James said, โmy friend will press the button on the detonator. There will be a big blast, and everyone present here will get blown up, except, of course, me and my friends.โ
Osay scoffed. โThat is impossible.โ
โYou know better,โ James said. โMy friends and I are wearing melamine coated armour. You know, it is a fire-resistant fabric. It will protect us from the fire resulting from the blast.โ
James started laughing.
Seeing the confidence and lack of fear in Jamesโs tone, the warriors surrounding them started to back away.
There was silence for a few moments.
โDo you want to take the risk?โ James shouted.
โDo it then,โ Osay said. โCome on. Do it. Press the button.โ
A drop of sweat trickled down Jamesโs cheek. Osay had unknowingly walked into Jamesโs trap.
James signalled to Archer.
Archer pressed the button.
The walls of the Library trembled. The ground started shaking.
At the same time, sorcerers rushed out from the Library raising their hands. Rays of light travelled forth, straight towards Archer. The sorcerers encased a small dome around Archer. The bombs exploded in the dome. Archer was unhurt, but the bombs proved useless, as the nearby warriors were unaffected.
Osay gave a monstrous laugh.
As planned, the Scavenger crashed through the warriors. The majority of the warriors turned towards him, trying to catch him.
The sorcerers continued with their spell. Their dome had now expanded, containing the children and Pyros within it. Everything was moving as per their plans. Then came the final step.
The sorcerers spoke in unison. โWe now banish you to Earth!โ
As the dome retracted into itself, a portal opened. The children and Pyros were sucked into it. Taking advantage of the distractions, the Scavenger disappeared into the bushes.
They emerged onto a street. Tall buildings, towering skyscrapers, the pedestrians, moving
cars โ all this signified only one thing.
A car skidded to a spot two feet away from James. A man got out and approached him.
โYou okay?โ he asked. James nodded, his mind working sluggishly. He looked around, moved forward and plopped himself down on the bench.
A thought flashed in his mind...
They were back in London.

The children and Pyros sat on a bench. Busy people kept moving, paying no attention at the group. The children realized that they had been in the Dark World for a year now and that only twelve hours had passed on Earth.
Pyrosโs eyes twinkled as he saw the moving cars.
โHow can you be so calm?โ Archer said, looking at Pyros. โWe are banished to Earth, with no way to go back to the Dark World. The only thing we can depend upon is on Jamesโs plan.โ
Pyros smiled. โI have trust in your friend. The plan is wonderful.โ
โGood work, everyone,โ James said. โWe successfully got banished.โ He got up. โAll right, no time to waste. Letโs move.โ
As they walked, James said, โAll right, now Iโll reveal the whole plan. You see, we were facing a severe dilemma. Neither could we escape from the Dark World without Matt, nor could we give the First Page to Osay. So the only thing left was to do something Osay didnโt expect. That was getting banished from the Dark World.
โThe core of the plan is that if we are banished from the Dark World, Osay will think he has got rid of us and that it will be easy to subdue the Scavenger and get the First Page.โ
Pyros spoke in an excited voice, โBut he doesnโt know that we have more tricks up our sleeves.โ
โWhat tricks?โ Daniel asked.
But it seemed that James wasnโt listening; he was pointing ahead.
โWhat?โ Archer said. โOur school.โ
James nodded. โYes.โ
The group vaulted up the wall into the school, which was closed at that time. They made their way to the school library, picking locks one by one.
James instinctively knew what he had to do. When they first went to the Dark World, they had taken a portal from the school. In the schoolโs library, there was a book with a mark. This mark, when pressed, created a portal to the Dark World.
โOur powers are not working,โ Daniel commented as James started to look for the mark.
โObviously,โ James said. โThe Scavenger told us, remember. Our powers will work only in the Dark World.โ
James pulled out a book from the shelf and sifted
