cave entrance and held her hand up as Kaily observed when opening a portal. Shimani's eyes met Kaily's, before he followed Sari through the portal she just opened.

Thank you, Moto whispered in her mind.

Kaily turned in his arms again so that she was facing him. My apologies for being late. It took longer than I thought it would.

Moto shook his head. No need to apologize, little one. I was afraid you were having trouble opening the Gateway.

What were you and Sari arguing about? She asked. A part of her wanted to tell Moto about her conversation with Shimani, but another didn't. She didn't want to create difficulties between them, not when she didn't know what was going on. She tried to keep her mind from drifting in that direction.

I wanted to come after you and Sari said I should give you time, that it probably was just taking longer than anticipated, you know the usual. He replied.

She smiled at him. There was amusement in his mind and a feeling that perhaps he over-reacted after all. She ran her fingers through his braids. Don't ever hesitate to come after me. She stood on her tippy toes.

He bent his head to hers and took possession of her mouth as he kissed her. Thank you for coming back to me, little one.

Always, she wrapped her arms around his neck and gave herself over to him as he deepened his kiss.

He adjusted the pack he swung over his shoulder, picked her up, and then carried her into the cave. He set the pack in the alcove with the chest and started towards the pallets.

"Stop," she said.

He turned concerned eyes to meet hers. "Why?"

She gave him a timid smile. "We have unfinished business and you're ripe. Take a shower, while I unpack, and we'll finish both after you're fresher."

He smiled and shook his head. "Whatever it is, it can wait, and my ripeness won't bother you much in a minute if I have my way."

She laughed and wiggled to get out of his arms. Please, Moto, it's important.

He set her on her feet. He studied her for a moment. Alright, little one, I will shower and let you do what you need to. He kissed her again, before making his way to the shower room.

She watched him go and her heart skipped a beat. She didn't know if she possessed the courage to see this through, but she gave it a lot of thought over the past seven days. She concluded if they were going to overcome their obstacles, it must start with the biggest one they had yet faced. She changed out of her jeans and sweater into a light dress that Sari packed for her to sleep in. She rummaged through the chest and alcoves until she found the other items and placed those on the table in the manner in which they were placed the last time she was there. Her heart caught in her throat as she stared down at them, and it beat wildly in her chest. She might not have the courage.

She heard Moto step out of the shower room. She turned around. He sauntered towards her with a towel wrapped around his waist, smiling.

She hesitantly returned his smile. She watched and shook her head at him as he let the towel drop to the floor.

"I approve of the change of clothes." He said aloud and looked her appreciatively up and down.

She met him half way. He wrapped an arm around her waist and found her center with his other hand. She closed her eyes as he inserted a finger inside her moist center. She forced her eyes open and stayed his hand. Not yet.

His eyes locked with hers.

She could see the confusion in his eyes and his mind. "We need to finish something first." She took him by the hand and led him to the table. She felt the moment realization of what she was up to enter his mind. Her heart pounded hard in her chest, and she found it difficult to breathe as they stopped before the low stone table where she placed the items.

He drew her back against him and held her there.

She tried to turn in his arms and look up at him to see what expression he wore, but he wouldn't let her. She felt his heart beating in his chest and pounding out a rhythm against her back that matched her own rapidly beating heart. Talk to me, please. She grew uncomfortable with the silence that fell between them. She couldn't tell what he thought. He didn't close his mind to her. His mind was just blank. Please, Moto, I need to know what you're thinking.

I'm thinking you are out of your mind, little one. Your fear beats at me. He turned her around to face him. His gaze drifted to the items on the table and back to her and back to the items on the table. He began to shake his head. No, I can't.

Kaily looked back at the items and then back at Moto. She framed his face between her hands. It's my choice to honor your Kahoali ways, not yours. You asked me to bond with you and join you in your world, but I can't do that, if I don't give myself completely to you and your way of life, even when it involves something like this. She finished turning around and looking back at the table. She couldn't keep the trepidation out of her mind or voice.

He walked over to the table with her in tow. He pushed the cushion back and sat on the edge. He brought her towards him so that she stood between his legs. "You have no idea what you are asking me to do." He said aloud. "Give me your hand." He held his palm out to her facing up.

She put her hand in his.

He searched her eyes, and then turned his attention to her hand. He turned her hand over
