I used to travel to Southern France as a kid (we lived in England), and I recently returned in the summer of 2019. I knew instantly I wanted to set a book there. Any nonsensical geographical issues, transit times, and French mistakes are mine and mine alone. And yes, Xavier says Merde a lot, but I would have had to include a dictionary ( and contextual explanations) for all the many colorful curse words the French actually use lol!
