CHAPT ER TEN

The account of Bechtelโ€™s involvement with the intelligence community is based on papers in the National Archives and the Library of Congress, many of which were recently declassified. It also draws upon the papers of Allen Dulles at the Princeton University Library; the papers of John L. Simpson at the Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley, and the papers of C. Stribling Snodgrass at the University of Wyoming. Of immense help too were interviews, some of them off the record, with former Bechtel and U.S. government officials who are familiar with Bechtelโ€™s intelligence links.
