I put them away, promising her she could examine them later to her heart’s content, and started pouring gold into the bags next, thankful that the coins only seemed to take up one slot each for gold, silver, copper, and platinum for some reason.
I ignored the totals for the moment. Not being able to spend any of it made it a little pointless, after all. I did the same for the gemstones, slightly annoyed that they required different slots, depending on the quality of the stone. A ‘Flawless Diamond’ didn’t stack with a ‘Diamond’ for some reason, so I pocketed the three I’d found, figuring they didn’t take up much space, and it was a better idea than losing a slot.
I just shrugged and moved on, hoovering up as much as I could fit into the bags. Despite the bags reducing the weight by so much, they were still noticeably heavy when I finally got all the bags reattached. I was left with two slots by the end, and I was trying to decide if I should put a longsword or a lance into them, or leave them both empty for next time, when Yen found the thing we needed most of all.
In a cupboard designed to look like part of the wall were dozens of potions, three more Bags of Holding, and finally, a single large knapsack that sat atop a reinforced base.
Yen sprang into action, packing all but the mana, stamina, and health potions away into her bag as Lydia opened the first bag.
“It’s full o' recipes…” she said in awe. “There’s a good twenty recipes in here, an' they’re all at least ‘Common’ grade… an' the other’s full o' potions!”
“This one’s full of wood…” Stephanos announced to the laughter of several nearby Legionnaires, as he waved a tiny bag around in front of his crotch, while Rinko opened the last bag, lifting it with an audible grunt of effort.
“Damn thing’s heavy…” he muttered, peeking at the inventory and starting to laugh.
“What is it?” I asked, and he shook his head, stifling his laughter as he gestured with the bag.
I moved over and scanned the inventory that popped up, reading stacks of metal ingots, some tools, and… a collection of things that took a minute to identify.
“Sooo…” I said after a while, as others looked inside, “the Skyking was a bit kinky, then?” Rinko burst out laughing.
“I think it was trying to make a statue of itself…” he gasped when he finally got himself under control.
“Really? Because those look an awful lot like…” I started.
“…its eyestalks with an eye at the end,” interrupted Yen, trying not to smile. “Honestly, men, you’re like a bunch of children at times.”
“So you won’t want one, then?” one of the female Legionnaires asked with a wink. “Because I’m thinking they might be good for…research… you know, studying your enemy and all that… alone…”
“I bet you’ve already nicked three of them, the biggest ones!” Yen shot back at the other Legionnaire, but she grinned with the retort, and everyone laughed as she shrugged.
“…Maybe just one…” Oracle flitted over to hover next to her shoulder, inspecting the creations and whispering to her, before giggling and settling on her shoulder.
Laughter echoed through the team as we all moved quickly, searching the room further, but finding nothing else. Thankfully, the potion bag had a dozen ‘Greater’ strength and one ‘Epic’ health potions, as well as eight ‘Greater’ mana potions, among a handful of others. I gave two of the mana to Arrin and took the unidentified potions to Nerin.
It took me a few minutes, but eventually, I had the remaining eleven potions identified, and with a wave of relief, Nerin popped the top off the third one, a Greater potion of ‘Purity’.

All told, there were four potions of Earthen Aid, one each of Triskan’s potions, three of Evenai’s Eye, one Purity, which Nerin drank as soon as I named it, and one Greater Health Infusion. I passed her the potions, as well as two of the mana and two more health ones, just in case.
I’d barely finished putting the potions away when she began casting at me, and I gritted my teeth as a tingling feeling swept through me. It was similar to that feeling you get when someone draws their nails across your skin in a sensitive place, pleasurable, but just on the edge of too much, and it made me shiver.
“What the hell was that?” I asked her after a minute, and she shook her head, concentrating on something only she could see as she shifted her hands this way and that.
As I watched, she began twisting her hands and muttering, and a pair of golden discs comprised entirely of light snapped into being. Each glowed softly, and a dozen symbols spiraled slowly around the outside, moving as she directed, with her fingers occasionally spinning them so that one symbol or another hovered
