out are the headphones he’s been talking about wanting so he can tune everyone out to study. They were sold out when I tried to get them.

Leave it to Skittles to get her hands on them. Next, he pulls out something yellow and gray and a box tumbles out. The fabric in his hands is a leather racing jacket, in his favorite colors.

“This is so cool,” he says as he bends to pick up the box. “Man, Skittles this is sick.”

She affectionately ruffles his hair. “Open the box.”

Leo beams up at her as he lays the jacket across his lap and opens the box. His face turns red and glows with excitement. When he lifts the key from the box I groan. I should have known she would.

“A car?” Leo gasps. “Like this goes to a car?”

“No, a bike. A R 1250 RS BMW to be exact.”

My brother leaps from the chair and lifts her off her feet into a bear hug. I know I’ve lost my mind when I get jealous the moment she kisses his cheek. I look away toward the screens of the club. I see nothing as I do. I can’t focus.

It’s probably why I stand when she rounds the table that anchors the center of the room and stops at my seat. I pinch her chin between my fingertips and tilt her head back. God, this woman is so beautiful. I’ve seen her without all the makeup and she’s still perfection.

However, I love when she makes it so she looks like a doll. The glow on the tip of her nose, the lashes, the glossy lips, it all draws me in. I’m just about to lower my head to take her lips when the door opens again and the crew walks in breaking the moment.

They’ve all come out for my baby brother. I respect that. Even Luke walks through the door.

We still haven’t been able to talk him into moving back to Vander. Not many of us go out to Bridge Lake these days, but we’ve tried to get Luke to at least come to Vander City to be closer to the crew. It’s not lost on me that Kelex and Rhet are here. The smile on my little brother’s face says it all.

“Leo,” Tak croons.

“Dr. Leo,” Deacon corrects.

Luke pulls Leo into a headlock and whispers something to him that makes him crack up. Rhet and Kelex of course, drop gifts in front of him.

I nod to myself and clear my throat, taking a step back from Skittles. It’s when Kelex stops behind her and folds his arms over his chest, I come back to my senses and walk off. I need a smoke.

But you won’t because she hates it and you’re finally kicking the habit. For her.

I growl as I push out of the room and head outside for some fresh air. I need to pull my shit together fast. What the hell am I doing?

Skittles

My heart is about to race out of my chest. I was sure he was going to kiss me. My belly is so tight with anticipation it hurts.

I’m not even sure what made me walk over to him. It was like being drawn in by a magnet. One minute I was talking to Leo, the next I needed to round the table to Pit.

I blink and furrow my brows as he turns and walks off. I turn to follow after him and run right into Kelex’s hard body. I lift my gaze to find angry gray eyes staring at me. It’s funny, when he’s pissed, they’re always gray.

I sigh and place my hands on my hips as I drop the right one. “Are we going to do this here? Tonight, of all nights.”

“Ven, don’t go there with me. You knew we weren’t done,” he snaps. “I’m going to get in his ass too.”

He jerks his thumb over his shoulder in the direction Pit disappeared. I groan. The last thing I need is for him to say something that will make Pit shut this all down.

“Josh. Remember when I found out what you were up to after you got cut off?”

Kelex nods.

“Well, as pissed as you were at your family, you didn’t want it to get back to them or to harm your family’s name. I’m sort of in the same position and someone I care about needs me to come through for them. That’s all I’m going to say.”

“This someone must be pretty damn important,” he grumbles.

“It’s Shawna. So yeah. Pretty damn important.”

Although Kelex has never met Shawna because the two can never stay still long enough to be around at the same time, he knows how important she is to me. Kelex knows all the details of our kidnapping and how my little cousin is my world, and I would die before letting her get hurt, even back then.

Tears build. The one time I didn’t drive fast enough. She was hurt and I didn’t get there fast enough. I have to get this done.

Kelex pulls me into a hug. “Baby girl, you’re only going to be able to hide this for so long before we all lose our shit. You’re never like this. Whatever you need, we’re here, you just have to ask.”

“I asked. I asked the one person who can help me. Pit is helping in the only way any of you can. I’m doing the best I can, Josh, I really am,” I sob.

I’m falling apart. With his arms around me, I don’t think I’m going to be able to rein it back in. The weight of the situation rocks me to my core.

“Come on, let’s get you cleaned up,” Kelex whispers.

He leads me to the private bathroom Pit has in this room. I sag into his side because I’m tired. The anxiety and situation are all about to overtake me.

Chapter 10

Little Spiders

Skittles

I don’t know what happened at Leo’s party. Kelex helped me get myself under control before he left
