My MC family stays with me until itโs done. Theyโve been here all along, my ride or die brothers. โThere is one more thing we need to do. Whoโs ridinโ with me?โ I have plans I need to prepare and I want to share them with my brothers.
Angie
โI have a surprise for you.โ Coltโs hands come around and gently hold my stomach, resting his chin on my shoulder. I set down the scissors in my hand on my workspace at the shop.
I donโt notice it right away, but then it hits me. โYour cast is gone. How exciting.โ Gently, I run my hand up his previously injured arm. Itโs in a lighter brace, but you can see how much his arm has changed while wearing it. Itโs noticeably thinner than the other one and his skin is pale.
โIโm going back to work next week. Iโll be gone on a long haul to try and catch up for lost time.โ This time he rubs our little girl and talks to her, โIโm gonna miss you, my lilโ bit. You gotta be good for momma while I get work done.โ He kisses my cheek, and I turn around in his arms.
โAnd what do these working man hours look like for you?โ Iโm almost six months along and Colt has done everything to get me to quit, but that will never happen. After he came home and threw a fit that I moved out while he was gone, he moved in with me. Spider bit his tongue and Jazzy laughed watching him haul two duffle bags across the yard. After we fought and then made up, we thought it was best for me to stay here. If I go into labor or need anything, then I have Jazzy across the yard to get me to the hospital.
โRight now, Iโm going to run as much as I can. I want to be home close to your due date and take some time to be here with you when the baby comes. At least for a week.โ
โThen, Iโll have Spider to watch over me while youโre gone?โ I laugh because the poor man is probably wanting his house back.
โYeah, kinda. Heโs threatening to deliver an eviction notice. We need to start looking for a place of our own.โ Colt leans in and kisses my nose. โAre you ready for your surprise?โ
โI thought it was your arm?โ
โNegative, love.โ Taking my hand in his, he walks me outside, where thereโs a beautiful dark gray Chevy Tahoe with tinted windows. Colt holds out his hand and dangles the remote keys in front of me. โI bought my girls a rig of their own.โ
โShut up!โ I scream. โI should say no, but she is so pretty.โ I snatch the keys from his hand and unlock the doors. I believe his love for nice vehicles has rubbed off on me. Inside, itโs all leather and so beautiful. โWhat is that?โ Shutting the front door, I donโt wait for an answer before I open the back door. He installed an infant car seat, and the fabric is light pink with horseshoes stamped all over it. โColt, this is so cute.โ My hand runs over the material.
He rubs my shoulders. โI promised you and lilโ bit that I would take care of you, and I always will.โ
The roar of bikes flood the streets and I whip around as the Battle Born brothers block the entire street. Itโs late and the sun has set, their bikesโ lights creating a bright background around us. Colt drops to one knee and takes my hand in his. โAngie, I was lucky the day you talked to me at the reception, and it was a damn stroke of twisted luck we got back together. Iโm done with lettinโ things fall into place. Iโm takinโ what belongs to me, and Iโm asking ya, be my wife?โ
The rumble of the bikes has created quite the scene. The crowds have gathered on the streets and the moment is beyond perfect. The beat of my heart rivals the roar of the engines around us. โI never believed in hope until you, until you loved me. Yes, Iโll marry you.โ
Colt slides a petite diamond ring onto my finger. He stands and his fingers run along my jaw. Instinct kicks in and I tilt my chin up to meet his lips. His mouth opens and I follow, wrapping our tongues in sync with each other.
Nothing can keep us apart. I would follow this man anywhere. He gave me courage and hope. Colt changed his life when he had no idea how the outcome would be. He doesnโt see himself this way, but I do.

Itโs here, the day I never thought would happen. The day Angie makes me a dad. โColt, did you hear me?โ she shouts in the parking lot of the store. We went shopping for the last few baby items she would need for Hope, my lilโ bit. I call her โlilโ bitโ because all you need is a little bit of hope to get you through your fears. Angie gave up wearing pants these past few months and opted for dresses. At the moment, her fear seizes my heart as liquid drips down her legs. โMy water broke! Sheโs two weeks early!โ
โWhy is that a bad thing? I thought water breaking and having a baby was what weโre doing.โ I hold up the bags to emphasize my point.
โNot in the parking lot, you dumbass. Get me to the hospital,โ she growls and points to the Tahoe. She hunches over and holds her stomach. โShit, I thought I was having Braxton-Hicks all damn day. Fucking motherfucking shit . . . fuck . . . ow.โ
I donโt suppose this would be the best time to tell her this is her fault then. I have the bags in
