“I love the way you hold your breath when I touch you.”

Because I’m fighting not to come in my pants like a teenager. He bit his lip while she tugged his jeans and boxers down.

“So pretty,” she murmured as she stroked him firmly from root to crown, the pleasure so sharp he nearly levitated off his seat.

“Can I touch you?” he whimpered.

“Here.” Eyes sparkling, she took his hand and slid it beneath her sweater. Sweet baby Jesus, she wasn’t wearing a bra. “Gentle. They’re sore.”

Keeping his touch light, he caressed her heavy breasts, circling her nipples with his thumbs.

“That’s the way. So nice,” she purred before bending forward and sucking him into the molten heat of her mouth.

He spread his legs wider, his head lolling back as she worked him with sure, firm strokes. Her velvet tongue did magical things to his crown. Pressure built, gathering low and radiating down his legs and up his spine. She released him and—with a low, smoky laugh—licked down his shaft to tongue his balls.

“Rosie—I—oh God—please—”

Her hand sped, pumping him mercilessly while sharp teeth nibbled the sensitive inside of his thighs. Helpless, mindless, he bucked into her grip until the world around him exploded—pure light, pure sensation, pure bliss.

When he came back to himself, she was laughing softly, her cheek against his bare thigh. He hooked his arms under hers and pulled her up for a fierce kiss. “Rosie, thank you. That was—I don’t even have words.”

“You don’t need words.” She tilted her head to nibble his ear. “You showed me how much you enjoyed it.” Pulling back, she glanced down at his shirt, now smeared with streaks of cum.

Mortified, he groaned. “Sorry about the mess.”

She pushed to her feet. “Doesn’t bother me. It’s proof you had a very good time. Here.” She pulled a T-shirt from her dresser. “Mom won’t notice you’ve changed.”

He refastened his jeans and replaced his soiled shirt with Rosie’s clean one, dark gray and emblazoned with the Tacoma octopus. “I’ll wash this and get it back to you tomorrow.”

“No rush.” She hooked her fingertips into his belt and pulled him in for a kiss. “I know where to find you.”

“You sure I can’t?—” He squeezed her lush hips.

“Positive. I’ll be fine in a day or two.” She smacked his ass. “Now get outta here, Volkov. I need a shower before work.”

She walked him to the front door. Diana waved from the sofa. “Oh, you’ve got one of those octopus shirts too.” Her brow rumpled. “Weren’t you wearing a flannel shirt?”

Rosie saved his ass. “We spilled grease on it.” She pecked his cheek and shoved him out the door. “See you at work, Eddie.”

He grinned all the way home.

Chapter Eleven

Saturday afternoon, Rosie vibrated with excitement as Eddie bundled her into his little Toyota. He’d refused to tell her where they were going, only cautioning her to dress warm and bring an appetite. Drumming on the steering wheel, he slid her a playful grin as they rolled down Sixth Avenue past weed dispensaries, bars, and record shops.

“C’mon, Eddie, give me a hint, at least.”

The corners of his eyes crinkled. “We’ll be outside, then inside, then outside, then inside—”

She huffed. “You’re such a tease.”

“Says the woman who wiggles her ass in my direction at work. You, madam, are queen of the tease.”

As he turned onto Division, tiny snow pellets began to fall, bouncing off the windshield like bits of Styrofoam. “Look!” Rosie pointed to the graceful stone ladies at the entrance to Wright Park. “Someone knitted hats for the statues.”

“First stop.” He pulled into a free space near the park, then took her hand. “In case I forget to mention it later, thanks for coming, Rosie.” He looked so earnest, she wanted to climb onto his lap and kiss him silly—impossible to do in his cramped car.

“Are you kidding? I wouldn’t miss the chance to spend some daylight hours with you. Do you realize we share most of our time together in darkness? We’re like a couple of bats.” She flapped her fingers beside her face.

“That won’t change anytime soon, sorry.”

“Don’t apologize.” She wove her fingers through his. “It’s just the phase of life we’re in. You’re working hard to achieve your dream. So am I.” Parroting her mom’s reassuring words should help more than it did.

“You’re right.” Sliding his hand to her nape, he pulled her in for a toe-curling kiss. “Someday soon, we’ll both be in a better place. Fair warning, when that day comes, I plan to claim lots of your daylight hours.”

Did he mean once he opened his own bar? That would take years. She bit her lip as he popped out of the car and jogged around to open her door. “Would my lady care to stroll through the park?”

“I love this park.” She smooched his cheek and wound her arm through his. Despite the wind’s wintery bite, they shared the path with several families whose kids chased pigeons and squirrels on the rolling hills. Towering overhead, the skeletal trees stood out in stark beauty against the pale gray sky. Rosie pointed. “I saw a tattoo like this once—just bare winter branches. Wonder why the guy chose that image.”

“Do tattoos always mean something?”

“Usually. Mine do.”

He slid his arm around her hip. “You know, I still haven’t seen all your tattoos. Once your clothes come off, we usually get right to business, then conk out.”

She pulled him in tight, holding him as close as their puffy coats allowed. “We’ll have to remedy that.”

“As soon as you’re feeling better.”

Period sex had always been something she avoided. Between cramps and worries about her partner’s potential disgust, she found it hard to relax and enjoy the moment. But Eddie had been straight with her so far—maybe he really didn’t mind. Worth a try.

“I’m actually feeling okay. Still a little messy, but not too bad.” She wiggled her hips, pressing against him. “Your parents’ shop is closed on Sundays, right? Maybe after work tonight…” She kissed him, just a light,
