until we find Maxim, that disturbing sensation will keep its hooks in my flesh.

According to Samuel, the brothers approached him a few weeks before the murders and paid him one-hundred grand to sit at the end of the street and be on the lookout for Aidan, Dray, and Victoria.

I believe Samuel, which is why he’s currently starring up at me with pleading eyes, and snot running out of his nose from crying like a baby.

I take a deep breath to calm my beast and check my phone time to see it’s three in the afternoon.

For nearly twelve hours, I’ve dealt with Mikhail and Samuel, wiped the security cameras clean at the docs, triple checked for witnesses, and disposed of bodies.

Goddamn chaos that has me pissed the fuck off.

“I asked you a question, Sam. Do you know the difference between loyalty and betrayal?” I kick him in the head just because I feel like it, watch his head snap to the side, and chuckle when he starts whining again.

Traitors are always pussies once they get caught.

Dumb fuck.

“Ah, hell, Sammy boy, no need in twisting your mind up trying to come up with an answer. You won’t get it right because disloyal men don’t know the difference. If you did, you wouldn’t have done what you did in the first place. You would have come to Roan, and lives would have been saved. Including yours.”

Me? I know the meaning of the two most essential words and actions a man should possess, like the back of my hand.

For example, take my brother, Lane. He vowed to Lorenzo that he would stay away from Sienna. He broke that vow, betraying Lorenzo, and fell in love with Sienna. When we found out, I wanted to wring Lane’s neck. When I looked into my brother’s eyes, though, I knew he’d been paying the price for years.

He looked absolutely defeated. Probably would have taken a bullet to the skull if it would have saved Sienna the years of hell she went through after the two of them split up.

Lane never stopped loving Sienna, and after finding out her son Luca was actually his, he paid the price a hell of a lot more from missing out on the first ten years of his son’s life.

That’s not betrayal. That’s not selling inside information to pad your pocket. That’s falling in love. No man deserves to die for that. Especially a good man, and my brother is a damn good man.

And loyalty. It’s a man’s honor. It’s a commitment. It’s code. It’s trust. It’s a man’s word. It’s a sacrifice. It’s the foundation of every relationship. It can take years to build yet seconds to extinguish completely.

All in the name of greed. Nothing else mattering except lining their pockets and bargaining with others’ lives who could end up suffering the consequences.

“Go to hell, Seth. Either pull the trigger or let me up. They said they’d kill my family if I talked. Surely, you can understand that. If you’re going to kill me, then grant me one last wish. You have to get my mother and sister somewhere safe. I’m begging you. These men will do the same to them as they did to Aidan’s family.” He breaks out in sobs, squeezing his imploring eyes closed.

If he weren’t already a soon to be dead man, I’d kill him for several reasons. One, he didn’t apologize for the deaths. Two, he brought up my family, and three, he went back to begging for his family’s life like he’s done since Dominic dropped him at my feet. Doing them all while not continuing to look me square in the eye.

I can’t stand a person who doesn’t look someone in the eye, especially when they beg for something important. It shows he isn’t a man and sure as hell doesn’t care about his family.

That just pisses me off even more.

“Given that I’m a deliverer of pain, the thought of eternal torture sounds like paradise to me. So, make sure you find me when I pass through the flaming gates. Why should I give a shit about your family when you don’t? You should have thought about them when you decided to become a traitor. Remember who is calling the shots here. I’ll kill you when I’m ready. I’m ready now, Sam.”

Panic flashes across his face when I raise my gun and place my finger on the trigger.

“I do care, but I swear on my sister’s life, I didn’t know Mikhail and Maxim were going to kill Aidan’s family. Please,” he begs, tears raking down his face like a rapidly flowing river.

“A man should never swear on his family’s life to something he knows to be untrue. You knew they were going to kill them. Even a low life like you isn’t that stupid. You didn’t care about my woman’s family, so why should I care about yours.” I pull the trigger. A bullet straight through his deceitful heart, sending him to hell without the knowledge that Roan has already sent someone to get his family into safety.

A loud thud comes from behind me, followed by a grunt. I turn around, peering through the double doors that lead to the arena just in time to see Aidan strike Mikhail with a kick to his head.

For an older guy, Aidan still has some of the most dangerous legs I’ve ever seen. He can sweep a man onto his back and crush him to death within a minute.

“Get on your knees.” The violence and venom in Aidan’s tone echo throughout the arena as he jerks Mikhail onto his knees by his hair.

Leaving Samuel for the cleaners, I take a seat next to Dray. Cain, Roan, Dilan, and Aaron are all seated down the row beside him.

Mikhail glances at me briefly before moving onto Dray. He takes us all in without any reaction. While I study his features, noting a scar running a line from the corner of his left eye to his jaw. His hair is
