fault him for his good taste.โ€

The reminder of times Natalie, her and Jake had sat on the couch in the shop joking and eating baked goods hit her like a wave. Her chest heaved as she struggled to breathe.

Legionโ€™s magic surrounded them like a living blanket. She gave herself up to the warmth and safety.

Legion led Mara inside the cabin. Natalie flew into Maraโ€™s arms. Both women sobbed openly, before retreating to the couch. Legionโ€™s eyes flared with his mateโ€™s pain. He went to Conner, who stood staring out the window. โ€œWho did this?โ€

Conner continued to gaze into the night. โ€œI assume it was Devlin.โ€

Legion shook his head. โ€œWhy burn down the shop? It serves no purpose, and a witness saw a man soaking the shop in gasoline.โ€

Conner huffed. โ€œThat confirms my theory. If it were a human arsonist, he would have attempted to conceal himself. The person they saw, was a figment of Devlinโ€™s imagination. There was no accelerate. Dragon fire started that inferno. I assume this is retaliation against both you and Mara.โ€

Mara approached the men. โ€œI am sorry I ever met that bastard.โ€

Conner put a hand on her shoulder. โ€œI had to focus on getting the ladies safe, but Draco moved many of the items in your shop. He couldnโ€™t alter the fire because of the bystanders, but he saved as much as he could.โ€

Mara sucked in a breath. โ€œDraco saved my things?โ€

Conner pursed his lips. โ€œHe had to prioritize. Draco couldnโ€™t save clothing, furniture and technology, but he retrieved most of the items from the shop and loft that he felt had personal value.โ€

Mara looked around. โ€œWhere are they?โ€

Conner glanced out the window. โ€œIn the caves. He is restoring the damaged items as we speak.โ€

Mara looked toward the dark sky. โ€œRestored?โ€

โ€œYes. Draco is using magic to restore the items to their original state.โ€

Mara frowned. โ€œBut thereโ€™s a price for that? Using magic, I mean?โ€

Legion shook his head. โ€œThe fire was not natural. Devlin will have paid a price for this form of dark use, but Draco is returning those things to their natural state. There will be no cost to him.โ€

Mara rubbed her eyes. โ€œMy head hurts.โ€

Legion pulled her against him. โ€œThereโ€™s a lot to learn, but you have all the time you need.โ€

Mara looked up at him with tears marring her cheeks. โ€œDo I?โ€

Legion took her hand, leading her to his bedroom. โ€œYes. Why do you doubt such a thing?โ€

Mara let him lead her into the massive room with an enormous bed. The wooden craftsmanship was unlike anything she had seen. She sat on the side, running her hand over the red bedspread. โ€œIf I donโ€™t learn what I can safely do, then the druids will fall prey to the dark dragons.โ€

Legion sat beside her, pulling her hand to his mouth. His breath tickled her fingers as he spoke. โ€œIโ€™m with you at all times. You will never use your magic unless you understand the consequences.โ€

She frowned. โ€œYou canโ€™t be by my side every second.โ€

โ€œNo. I am in your thoughts. Simply call to me if you are unsure about your new world.โ€

She huffed. โ€œI feel like a flipping toddler. Itโ€™s embarrassing.โ€

Legion rubbed her back. โ€œYou are anything but.โ€ He tipped her chin up to meet his gaze. โ€œMara, you are everything to me, with or without your magic. You understand that, donโ€™t you?โ€

Her face flinched. โ€œI betrayed you.โ€

Legion sucked in a breath. โ€œI was foolish to think so. They tricked Adara. She sacrificed herself to ensure she would be reborn, and that I did not turn dark. I have waited two thousand years for you, and every second was worth it.โ€

She hugged him. The fire was a slow burn. A trickle of electrostatic energy that traveled over his skin. Heat rushed through his bloodstream like a dam unleashed. Her lips were tentative, laced with pain and regret. Her body, however, reached for him, recognizing the other half of her soul. He was the only person who could make her whole. Lessen the burden of the wrongdoing inflicted on her. His mouth devoured hers as his hands pulled her clothes from her body.

He had forgotten tenderness, passion and sex. Memories so far in antiquity that it was like experiencing them for the first time. She brought out every instinct in both the animal and the man. Even in the face of adversity, she brought him joy. She gave him everything. Even with her sorrow an acrid taste upon her lips, she still held nothing back. He loved her willingness, her need to sate his desire for her.

He pushed her back on the bed, sucking her hard bud into his mouth. She moaned low, arching her body toward him, to give him better access. Her skin was petal soft and held the faint scent of wildflowers. He was addicted to everything about her. He moved up her body, running his hands over every lush curve, mapping the luscious canvas for all time.

โ€œLay on your back.โ€ Her green eyes flickered with blue fire behind the pupils. She had blocked their connection. Mystery and desire reflected in her soul.

He did as she asked. His dragon grumbled its approval as she knelt between his legs, keeping her flaming eyes locked with his as she took his shaft in her hands. Her fingers couldnโ€™t connect over his thickness, but she squeezed them together, applying enough pressure to make him growl low in his throat.

Her hand worked him until his breathing became uneven. A rare sensation for a man who was never without breath. The air stilled in his lungs when she bent her head and licked the throbbing head. Each muscle coiled like steel springs, pulled to their breaking point as her mouth enveloped him. The hot cavern a tunnel of ecstasy and desire. His head fell back as she sucked and lick his shaft as if he was her favorite dessert. Maybe he was.

She moved over him, positioning him at her slick entrance before lowering herself down on
