ask him if he meant what he’d just said he tilted his hips and pushed his full length inside me in one motion. My nails dug into his shoulders at the immediate fullness that racked my body. It had been so long since I’d shared this with anyone, and to be in the arms of my best friend was more than I could stand.

Once again, I found myself in a humiliating position with him as tears pricked at my eyes then fell down my cheeks. I was too far gone to have any emotional control at this point. It was so confusing to feel this way about a man I used to tease was a real-life, Afterschool Special about the dangers of necking with boys. And here I was crying underneath him like an idiot.

“Teagan,” he said, his voice rough against my ear. “It’s all right. What can I do?”

“Just shut up and fuck me.”

Sage looked down at me and winked. I only had a moment to worry about what that meant before he took me at my word and started to piston his hips against me. His hands went under my ass and lifted me, holding my body at an angle that allowed the tip of his cock to rocket against that sweet nub inside of me that I’d barely ever felt touched before.

Over and over, he struck that spot, hard and fast, until I felt a pressure building inside me that I’d never before experienced. It was as if a giant ball of fire gathered in a place that had never even felt heat. Part of me was afraid I may actually blow apart when the dam inside my body finally broke.

Every muscle in my body tensed, and it felt as if I didn’t even know what to do with the pleasure I was feeling.

“Just let go,” Sage grunted as he looked down at me. “Baby, you have to let go.”

I could see the strain in his face as he struggled to hold back his own pleasure long enough for me to experience mine. But it was all so new I just didn’t know how. Finally, Sage moved one of his hands and pressed against my clit, just pulsing against me until my body couldn’t take the combined assault and everything went black. I heard myself crying out Sage’s name, felt him dig his nails into my hip as he too screamed and his cock started to spasm in my pussy. But within seconds of my body being dropped to the mattress and the pressure of Sage falling on top of me, silence took over the darkness.

Chapter Four

“Teagan?” Sage’s voice sounded far away as he called my name. “Teagan, baby, wake up. Are you all right?”

My eyelids fluttered a few times before they would finally stay open and allow me to focus on Sage’s grinning face.

“What happened?” I mumbled.

“I think I fucked you into unconsciousness,” he said, his tone full of pride. “Are you okay?”

“Mm-hmm,” I replied as I burrowed myself deeper into the pillows.

“I’ll be right back,” he said, and I felt the mattress shift then heard the bathroom door close on the other side of the room.

I blinked a couple times and was glad to find that after a few more minutes, I could keep my eyes open, but my body was completely spent. I wasn’t sure I could walk if the apartment burst into flames. I would probably just have to lie in bed and die.

Sage came back and climbed under the covers. He propped himself up on his elbow and smiled at me.

“Thank you,” I said as a yawn broke the words. “I really needed that.”

“You’re welcome,” he replied. He leaned over and kissed me softly. “I meant what I said, you know.”

“Which part?” I asked.

“The part about spending the rest of my life watching you come. Hell, I could just spend forever watching you in general.”

“Where is this coming from?” I asked him. “You’ve never once acted like you wanted anything more than friendship from me.”

“Because I didn’t. I mean I did, I always did, but… Look, Teagan, when I met you I was a stupid kid with a lot of stupid things I had to do before I could be the man you deserve. I wasn’t ready for you.”

“And now you are?” I asked.

“I know I don’t have a great track record with women. But I think it’s because I always knew my future was with you. I was just sort of biding my time until we were both ready to take the next step.”

“So, this wasn’t just a tumble for you?” I asked, wanting to be absolutely sure he was saying what I thought he was saying.

“No, Teag.” He ran his fingers through his hair and sighed. “I love you. I’ve always loved you. And I’d like the chance to prove it to you.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

“This isn’t going to be easy, you know. Neither of us are exactly relationship material.” I smiled. “I mean, I’d love to try, but you have to promise me that this isn’t going to destroy our friendship. I love being your friend even more than I love being fucked unconscious.”

“I find that hard to believe,” he said as he cocked an eyebrow.

“No, really. I mean, I’ve never tried it, but I’ll bet I could achieve that with one of those rabbit vibrator things they sell on television at three in the morning. But I can’t drink beer and watch Star Trek with any other loser that happens across my path.”

“Yeah, that’s true. And there aren’t many other guys who would be impressed by your ability to belch the alphabet,” he said, rubbing his chin as if pondering something important. “Plus you snore, so that’s going to be off-putting to most people.”

“And you leave the toilet seat up, don’t hold doors open for girls and constantly make me pick up the check when we go out for dinner.”

“Yeah, we really are just the worst kind of people,” he
