“Picture?”
“Fuck yeah.” He reaches for his phone on the nightstand, then takes several pics of me.
I sit up, gazing at the photos. “I look amazing.”
“Incredible,” Legend agrees. He studies my face before grabbing my chin and dragging his tongue up my cheek. “You taste good too.”
“That’s you, Daddy.”
“Nope. Me mixed with you. Your skin is like candy.” He does it again. “I’m so fucking addicted to you, boy.”
“I like that.”
He smiles, releasing more of those crazy flutters within me.
“Let’s shower.”
My face lights up. “Is my punishment over?”
“Definitely.” He tilts his head. “You understand that I wasn’t really mad, right? And this wasn’t true punishment. I just want you to remember who I am, and how much you mean to me, and that you can be brave and bold and tell me all your secrets. Even the ones about me.”
I nod. “I know, Daddy. At first, your punishment was fun, but then I saw how I could’ve hurt your feelings at Finn’s. I just…” I shake my head. “I guess I’m afraid to say the wrong thing or pressure you for things you aren’t ready for.”
“That’s an unnecessary fear, Bentley. You can’t scare me or pressure me. I know what I’m doing, and for the first time in a long time, I have a lot of clarity. I was afraid of losing myself again, compromising too much, but that was an unnecessary fear too. You...lift me up. You reveal to me the right path to take.”
“I do?”
“Yeah.” He smiles. “It’s whatever path you’re on. Letting you lead the way has fixed a lot of broken parts in me. I’m very excited to see what we’ll get up to next.”
I feel my cheeks warming with the emotion simmering inside me. “Me too, Daddy.”
He grips my hands, gazing at me like he understands how I feel. He knows. “You’re so special, Bentley. I can’t believe you’re mine.”
I laugh. “You can’t believe it?”
Legend laughs. “Come on with you. You’re gorgeous all stained up, but let’s get you clean.”
“And then breakfast? I’m starving.”
“Yeah. Should we swing by and make sure Finn eats?”
“You’re such a good Daddy. Yes, we should.”
After a shower, we lie on the bed together, hands entwined.
“About dinner.”
“Yes,” Legend says.
“My dad is out of town, so we won’t meet him this trip. My mom and stepdad are fine. They’re pretty nice people. They obviously know I’m gay and stuff.”
“I understand no porn talk.”
I laugh. “Right. I think they’ll be cool, but my stepdad is still a little weirded out that I like older men. I think he thinks something in my upbringing caused it.”
“Not the case?”
“I don’t think so. I’m just wired this way.”
“Okay, so stepdad might be a little weird. No problem. Just don’t call me Daddy.”
I laugh softly. “I’ll try. Um, you’re the first guy they’re officially meeting. They bumped into me once when I was out with a man five years older than my dad. That was awkward, but this is the first time it’ll be like, ‘hey, parents, here’s my man.’”
“Ah. You nervous?”
“Not nervous, really, but I don’t know what to expect.”
“Doesn’t matter. I’ll be by your side.”
“Even if it doesn’t go well?”
“Especially if it doesn’t. I’m your soft landing, Bentley. Just like you’re mine.”
“Thank you.”
He rolls to his side to kiss my cheek. “Let’s get the day going. We need food.”
“There’s a cool little breakfast place in my old neighborhood. Finn and I love the pancakes.”
“Sounds like that’s where we’re going.”
I sit up, dragging my fingers through my messed hair. “Can I dress you, Daddy?”
He nods. “Yes.” Legend presses a soft kiss to my lips. “Such a good boy for Daddy.”
The feeling those words give me is indescribable, but one thing I know for sure, I always want to be his good boy.
Twenty-Three
Legend
After a pleasant day spent having breakfast and Bentley showing me around the town he’s from, we pull up in front of his parents’ house. As expected, it’s a typical midwestern suburban house with a cute little fence and manicured yard in front. In the backseat of the Uber, Bentley tenses up next to me. His nerves have increased as the day went by, knowing that I would be meeting his parents. I’m a little nervous, but I’m doing my best to keep my cool on his behalf.
Finn, sensing Bentley’s stress, rubs his friend’s shoulder. “It’s okay, Bentley. Your folks are nice people.”
“I know they’re nice people. I’m just nervous. I’ve never brought a guy home before.”
Finn smiles and nods. “I know, but I think they’re going to be happy that you have somebody out in LA and you’re not alone there anymore.”
Bentley smiles. “That’s a good point. All right, let’s do this.”
I pay the driver, and the three of us get out and walk toward the house. Bentley knocks on the door and a woman who looks exactly like him answers.
“Bentley! Oh my gosh.” She grabs her son and pulls him into an embrace. “It’s so good to see you.”
“Hi, Mom,” he says, cheeks blushing. “Good to see you too.”
She grabs Finn, kissing his cheek repeatedly while whispering condolences for his loss. Then her big brown eyes settle on me.
“Hello,” she says, her voice soft and curious.
“Hello, Mrs.—?”
“Oh no. You can call me, Margie.”
“Nice to meet you, Margie. I’m Legend.”
“Legend?” she questions. “Is that your real name?”
I chuckle softly, very used to this reaction. “Yes, ma’am. It’s my real name.”
She waves her hands. “No ma’am around here. Just Margie. Welcome.”
“Thank you.”
We enter the house, and it immediately brings a smile to my face. It’s similar in a lot of ways to what I grew up with in my parents’ home in California. It’s comfortable and homey and makes you want to sit down in the big comfortable furniture.
We enter the great room where a man I assume to be Bentley’s stepfather is sitting in a recliner watching TV. He’s a big, heavyset man.
“Mike.”
He turns around at the sound of Bentley’s voice, but his eyes shoot straight to me. He seems to force them
