her into my arms, and we lay together, caressing and panting from our exertions, my dick absolutely limp with exhaustion.

Trying desperately to catch my breath, I turned to see Mia sleeping, curled against me, and smiled. “Guess I wore you out.”

Needing a smoke and something to drink, I got up and put on my jeans before heading to the common room downstairs. I sat the bar, grabbed a bottle of Jack, and downed half of it. Sitting on one of the stools, I tried to make heads or tails of what just happened. Yet, no matter what I thought, I couldn’t get the stupid grin off my face.

Then before I could stop it, Pop’s face entered my brain.

“Fuck.”

It was all my fault, really. I didn’t get to him fast enough, and when I did, he laid in a pool of his own blood. There was nothing I could do. So, I sat down beside him and held his hand as he spoke his last words to me. No one would ever know what he said. It was for me and me alone. I made him a promise at that moment, and I vowed to keep it, no matter the cost.

Then there was Reaper. If he found out what I just did upstairs, he would kill me. Shoot me dead, and hand-carry my soul to hell and deliver me into the hands of the devil himself. Yeah, I just royally fucked up. Instead of planning my next move, I went and fucked the Presidents sister without permission, not that I’d ask for it anyway, but it wasn’t a smart move, considering what I needed to do in the next few hours.

I had already picked my team. I knew who was going with me, and they knew why. I still didn’t like keeping Reaper out of the loop, but it was Pop’s dying wish. Until I had all the information, I wasn’t to come home. I was needed on the outside more. I knew Reaper could handle things without me while I was gone, and though he still had his bad days, I knew the brothers would all look after him.

My brothers Grimm and Shadow sat beside me, saying nothing. I know they heard what happened upstairs. They’d have to be deaf not to, and I was thankful for their silence.

“When are you leaving,” Grimm asked before taking a drink of my bottle of Jack.

“In a few hours, before the others get back.”

“Everyone is packed and ready,” Shadow said softly. “Are you sure about this?”

“No.”

“I will keep your secret. No words will leave my mouth. I promise,” Grimm stated.

“Keep an eye on her for me. Make sure she doesn’t get into too much trouble.”

“I will.”

“Fuck,” Shadow moaned. “If we’re going to do this, we better do it now before the other return.”

I nodded, getting to my feet as I hugged Grimm tightly. I didn’t know when or if I was ever going to see him again, but I knew leaving him here to guard Reaper was the only choice. Grimm was the only one I trusted at the moment, considering what I already had found out. The next few months were going to be challenging, but it was time to clean the house. Right, a wrong, and punish the guilty.

“Text me if anything happens, okay?”

Grimm nodded solemnly as Shadow and I gathered our bags and walked out of the only home I’d ever known and the woman I loved above all others.

“Ghost!” Massacre shouted, getting my attention. “Come on man, we leave in ten minutes. Grab your gear.”

Nodding, I got to my feet, grabbed my bag, which I had beside me, and headed out with the others. One thing I knew for sure was that Mia was coming home.

What worried me the most was if she would be the only one.

NINETEEN

GHOST

Later that night,

We had booked a flight from northern California to Southern Louisiana, not willing to risk Pavlov disappearing from us again. We had agreed to the flight, though we weren’t thrilled with leaving our bikes. This was the only way to quickly get to Pavlov. Besides, there was Mia to think of. Though the brothers who were part of her rescue were all in agreement as to the health and welfare of Tyrant, I wasn’t so sure.

The whole flight, I couldn’t stop thinking of the ramifications of that night with her. What could have come of it? Though the dates matched up, it was the only thing that made sense in my mind. But I refused to believe it, not until there was definitive proof before me.

“Wanna let me in on why your so quiet?” my brother Shadow asked. “I mean, I get it. It’s Mia, but it’s almost been five years, man.”

“Four years and three months to be exact, and that’s what’s bothering me.”

“Why?” Shadow whispered when his eyes got wide. “No.”

“Shut up, Ezekiel.”

My brother grabbed my arm and moved me away from the others, getting in my face. “Please tell me you wore a raincoat that night.”

I just shook my head no.

“Fuck, Baltazar!” Shadow roared, causing a scene, then quickly lowered his voice. “You do realize with what everything Viper said.”

“I know,” I whispered.

“Do you think it’s possible?”

“That’s what I’ve been wracking my brain with. Why would she do everything she’s done—the shaman, living alone, attending college remotely, jumping from country to country. And as much as I hate to admit this, I would bet money Mia allowed herself to be taken by this asshole. But why? That was what bothered me the most, then it all started to make sense. It was right there before me.”

“So, there is a good possibility I may be an Uncle?”

“Yes.”

Shadow grinned, then added, “Are we fifty percent sure, sixty, seventy, come on man, give me the odds.”

Growling, I replied, “You’re a dick.”

“Yes sir, I am, but I like knowing the odds before I go into anything, and if my niece or nephew
