The energy gain to my ring fuel was small, but it was something.
I continued flying forward at speed.
Grinning, I extended my fists like I was Superman and rocketed toward the center of the space demon army while chuckling to myself, โWho wants to play chicken?โ
To make things more dangerous for them, I added enough mass to myself to grow me and my power armor to Mega Beast size, which in this case was 5 meters tall and a crazy amount of kilograms. The transformation process sent ring energy surging through me like fiery fury juicing my veins.
Time to start bashing heads.
โ: Chapter 40 :โ
The snarling horde of space demons panicked and scattered as I approached.
In a desperate attempt to get out of my path of destruction, they flapped their wings, or undulated frantically, or ejected propulsive gases from their fleshy vents, or clawed away at space as they cleared an opening where I was aiming at the center of their group.
A firestorm of energy bolts continued spewing from the rifles aimed by those demons who hadnโt scattered, but my โSphere of Absorptionโ gobbled them up like some insane and raging Black Hole Pac-Man.
When the green CyberKnight fired his disruption lance at me, my ring absorbed that too.
When the black CyberKnight fired his black withering beam at me, I felt the impact before I saw it. The hit was a cold burn. I had no doubt it was extracting energy from me โ likely because my rings couldnโt extract ENERGY from something that was also extracting energy. The only option in such a situation was to feed it with my own energy.
Without any effort on my part, I felt myself start to shrink.
Plus side, it appeared the black beam was extracting my Mega Beast MASS before it extracted my vitality. On the surface, that didnโt make any logical sense. Then again, neither did my ring powers, or the fact I wasnโt able to extract the black CyberKnightโs mass back on Zalaxia. There were forces at play I didnโt understand. Either way, I was shrinking because of his black beam. I added mass from my ringโs fuel supply to sustain my Mega Beast size and thus compensate for what the black CyberKnight was stealing. Then I aimed straight for him and his space skimmer while corkscrewing around his black beam and leading with my fists.
I was going to ram him.
With the help of osmium knuckles.
No, tungsten-tipped steel. Osmium was too brittle.
And, not knuckles.
I used ring fuel to craft studded, solid steel clubs encasing my fists and forearms. Within 2 seconds, the steel had layered itself to several inches thick. Then I joined them with a tungsten-tipped steel cone that was a meter long, and the base 2 meters in diameter to create a shield large enough to cover my enlarged Mega Beast form. Forget steel knuckles. Now I was leading with a deadly steel cone pointing straight ahead. I had to peek around the rim to see where I was going.
As I came in to ram the black CyberKnight, his army of black space demons scattered, some of them firing their bolt rifles โ or the grafted-on blasters growing from their limbs. They all aimed at me to no avail. My Absorption Sphere consumed the energy from the bolts as they entered the sphereโs area of effect. Apparently, unlike the black CyberKnightโs lance, his black demons fired traditional energy bolts from their rifles. Sucks to be them!
Because the black CyberKnight was chasing me with the withering beam from his black lance, I had to come up under the belly of his space skimmer to avoid it. I also came in on the side of his tower shield to further avoid his lance, but his space skimmer bucked and rotated to face me and chase me with his lanceโs black beam.
Fine.
I was going to ram him any second anyway.
The black CyberKnightโs skimmer whirled circles as it climbed upward through space at the exact moment I ducked my head behind my steel cone andโ
KOOM!
Slammed into the belly of the black space skimmer at an angle. I was vaguely aware of it shredding around me as I bulleted through it, ripping it in half. I looked back to see debris spiraling away from the broken skimmer and into space, and the unhorsed black CyberKnight spinning and waving his arms as he tumbled away from the point of impact.
While extracting the mass of my steel cone back into my ring and freeing my hands, I arced flying around the sprawl of escaping space demons and headed behind the Chaos Gate looking for Captain Theia.
โTheia?!โ I hollered over comms. โWhere are you?!โ
โIโm on the asteroid with the bomb! Tell me when youโre about to go through the gate and Iโll detonate it five seconds later!โ
โNo! Iโm coming for you! Hold tight!โ
โGo, my king! Donโt worry about me! Promote one of my Shock Knights to captain to fill my position! I trained them all myself! To a woman, they will all serve you as loyally as I have, my king!โ
โNO! Iโm coming for you, Theia! No matter what happens, donโt detonate that damn bomb! Thatโs an order!โ
Seconds later, I saw the asteroid with the gate projector. Like the main Space Pyramid, the asteroid was also shaped like a giant d4. Although it was smaller than the main pyramid, it was still big compared to me. Each edge of the asteroid appeared to be approximately 150 meters long. The gate projector was mounted on one of the points and was spewing out an expanding cone of energy that ended at the back of the Chaos Gate.
The three visible triangular faces of the d4 asteroid were black, red, and white respectively. They were surrounded by battlements. Manning them were all manner of space demons, hundreds standing guard
