was wondering how long you were going to hide behind Kain's shadow. He seems fond of you. Maybe I'll send him an eye in the mail.โ€

Stoker ran his sharpened nail down Damien's shirt, tearing the fabric. โ€œNow where shall I put the next hole?โ€

Damien's heart raced fast enough to make him dizzy. Jill didn't know what was going on, neither did Kain. He could get killed and neither one of them would know.

Stoker leaned into Damienโ€™s ear, speaking through clenched teeth. His anger apparent in his words. โ€œLet's see, I could pierce your heart and end this quickly. However, I think that would be too merciful. I want you to feel the agony as I tear your limbs off for what you did to me in our last meeting.โ€

Stoker's nail traveled down to Damien's stomach stopping at his lower abdomen. โ€œHere. It should paralyze you long enough for me to torture and drain you before your heart gives out.โ€

White sparks flew across Damienโ€™s eyes as the sharp pain of Stokerโ€™s hand pierced his lower stomach. It had gone so deep, he could feel the vampireโ€™s nails against his spine. His eyes bulged out of his skull, his breath caught in his lungs from the agony.

Memories ran through his mind all at once. He thought of Jill. Her beautiful body, hot with sweat after they made love. The gentle smile on her face unhindered by the fatigue in her eyes.

The thought that this may be the end of his life made Damien angry and saddened he hadnโ€™t taken her sooner. Then he thought of Kain. He didnโ€™t know why but it felt like he had a deep connection with the lycan alpha. Much deeper than anyone, even Damien knew.

He dropped his head, gasping. His knees shaking to hold him up to avoid slicing his flesh worse from the knives.

โ€œYou see, Pierce. You really are weak. Parading strength behind your little mongrel. Had you taken the offer of immorality, you wouldn't be hurting like this. I commend you on being silent but I know this hurts. There's no reason not to show it.โ€ Stoker grinned a wicked grin as he pulled his hand from Damienโ€™s stomach.

Damien coughed against the pain, his vision blurring. His strength began to fail. His body grew cold from blood loss. Jill...I'm...I'm so sorry.

Stoker guided his head up. โ€œGood. Stay silent. I'll take your blood in peace.โ€

Lune leapt over the brush behind the house. He growled as he threw his full weight into Stoker, sending the vampire flying into the wooden shed behind the house. The front of the small building shattered into pieces.

Jill came around the side of the house after Lune. โ€œDamien!โ€ Her heart stopped at the sight that met her eyes. โ€œLuna, no. Oh please, no. No, no, no.โ€

She pulled the knives out of Damien's hands, using her body to hold him as she lowered onto her knees, pulling him close to her. โ€œNo! Damien, please! Don't leave me!โ€

Lune positioned himself between Jill and Stoker who stood up out of the splinters of wood. His black blood dripped from the wound in the side of his head.

โ€œLune Maxwell. You pathetic excuse of an outcast abomination. How dare you lay your filthy claws on me.โ€ Stoker snarled as he dusted himself off. โ€œHe's dying. Let me have his blood. It's of no use to you or your pack of dogs anymore.โ€

Lune ignored Stoker. Baring his teeth, holding his ground.

Kain arrived shortly after with Gabriel who joined Lune in wolf form.

โ€œAlexander Kain, Gabriel Locke. Two of the most famous dogs in the Blood Wars. It is never a pleasure.โ€ Stoker spat, pissed. His face distorting into a deep scowl.

โ€œJillian, Damien's dying. You cannot heal him this time. Either change him or let him die.โ€ Kainโ€™s eyes burned with rage when he looked at Stoker.

Jill clenched her teeth as she held her lover in her arms. She'd tried to let him stay as close to human as possible. Sheโ€™d fought to protect his innocence, his purity but she knew she couldn't be without him.

Damien coughed against the pain in his stomach, choking as his lungs filled with blood.

Jill cupped his face, guiding him to look at her. The once vibrant jewels in his eyes had begun to darken. The light of the soul she had come to love was leaving.

โ€œDamien, I can't let you go. Without you, I might as well be dead. But it has to be your choice. I canโ€™t make you do this.โ€

Jill's eyes filled with tears reminding Damien of all of the times she'd watched him nearly get killed. Those frozen green orbs so full of love always had an underlying sense of fear. Fear he would reject her affection. Fear he would run. Now, there was the fear of losing him.

He wasn't afraid of dying, he was afraid of never being able to see her again. To never be able to make love to her or hear her say his name when they woke up together. With the last of his strength, Damien put his bloodied hand on Jillโ€™s on his stomach.

A gentle smile told Jill what she needed to know. Her heart ached with the knowledge she was having to curse the man she loved to a life of constant chaos. Softly petting his hair, she guided his head up.

โ€œBare your throat to me, my love. Your new life will be hard. The change will hurt at first but at least you will be safe. We can make this beautiful.โ€ Jill's fangs sank into the place where Damien's throat met his shoulder. His flesh tender under the force of her fangs.

The sweet, dark taste of his blood once again entered her mouth.

Flames joined shocks of electricity inside Damien as Jillโ€™s saliva met his blood. Her curse flooded into him, burning his veins
