The CyberKnight’s wreckage smashed into the red dirt below.
I applied a reverse POSITION vector to slow Theia and myself to a stop.
Gathered around the location of where the Chaos Gate had been until a moment ago was a huge crowd of armored guardswomen and Dragonfire mechs floating at various altitudes. Clearly, they had been guarding the gate. Littering the red dirt below them were dozens if not hundreds of white space demons, and a smattering of the other demons: black, red, and radiation green.
There was also a gigantic, blobby, white, and many-tentacled monstrosity lying dead on the red dirt clearing next to the also-dead white CyberKnight and his robot horse. He must have used his lance to transform the osmium sphere in which I’d encased him, turning the dense metal into this massive Lovecraftian thing. It was huge. Not counting the length of the tentacles, the main blobby mass was at least 30 or 40 meters in diameter, which made perfect sense because the density of his osmium cage would create a 2,500,000 kg organic monstrosity that was far larger than the osmium sphere’s 6 meters in diameter.
I had to wonder, had the white CyberKnight escaped through the beast’s blobby maw after he conversion, and then fought against the Royal Guard and Air Guard mechs while flying around the battle space on his white robot steed? Or had he fought from inside the Lovecraftian monster, directing its every move like a bio-pilot? I’d have to ask someone later. At any rate, both he and it were peppered with scorched blaster-bolt holes. The guardswomen and Dragonfire mechs had clearly killed them both while Theia and I had been gone on the other side of the Chaos Gate. What an amazing kaiju fight that must have been to witness.
As for the Royal guardswomen and Dragonfires, they swiveled around to train their weapons on Mega-Beast-me and Theia where we now floated hovering 50 meters above the purple jungle canopy.
“Crown to Control!” I shouted over comms. “Don’t shoot! It’s me and Captain Theia! We just came through the gate!”
“Did we make it?” Captain Theia asked after retracting her visor.
I looked down at her cradled in my Mega Beast arms. She seemed so small, no more than a doll. I shrank back to my normal size and retracted my helmet visor to smile at her, “Yeah, we made it.”
Theia wrapped one arm around my neck and kissed the corner of my mouth with intense affection. “Thank you, my king. You saved my life.”
The sensation of her soft lips instantly went to my head.
You know the one.
It was inevitable: when a woman as gorgeous as Captain Theia blessed you with a kiss, no matter how sexual it may or may not have been — she had only kissed the corner of my lips — it always went to your head and made you forget everything else, even a demon-strewn battlefield.
Suddenly, despite my injuries, I felt like a billion bucks.
Risking certain death had been totally worth it.
—: Chapter 46 :—
“Your injuries are superficial, my king,” said Major Akeso in medical later that afternoon. A number of doctors and nurses in pink uniforms stood behind her.
I sat on the edge of an exam bed and said, “How about the guardswomen who got hit by that withering beam from the black CyberKnight? Can you reverse the damage? Make them young again?” It sounded stupid when I said it. Everyone knew there was no fountain of youth.
“Yes,” Major Akeso said.
“Wait, what?” I gasped.
“I can easily reverse their accelerated aging, my king,” she smiled. “It will take some time to revitalize them, but they will be back to their usual youthful appearance soon enough.”
“Do you have an estimate?”
“Two weeks? Maybe three or four? It depends on the woman. They weren’t all aged to the same degree.”
“You say it like you’ve seen this before,” I chuckled.
“I haven’t, actually. But we Zalaxians are very familiar with the science of aging, and have very advanced anti-aging therapies.”
“So I’ve noticed,” I snorted. “There isn’t a single woman around here who looks older than their early thirties. In the case of you ladies here in Medical, no one looks older than their twenties.” I smiled at the hot doctors and hot nurses behind the major. Welcome to Super Model Hospital.
“Such is our way, my king,” Major Akeso smiled.
“If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you, Major?”
“I’m not,” she winked.
I laughed at that.
The hot doctors and nurses giggled.
To the major, I said shrewdly, “You can’t be more than… what, a hundred?”
She smirked.
I said, Two hundred?”
She frowned.
“Five hundred?” I asked carefully.
She grinned, “In case you haven’t noticed, my king, I am forever young.”
More giggles from the ladies.
“I’ll take the hint,” I chuckled. Turned out women universally hated saying their age, even when they had anti-aging medicine. I wasn’t sure how it was a problem if you could look 21 forever, but here was proof it still mattered. “How is Captain Theia doing?”
“Quite well,” Major Akeso said. “She’s just across the hall if you’d like to see her.”
“I would,” I said and slid off the bed.
My body felt a bit sore after the fighting I’d done with the CyberKnights of the Spacepocalypse and their horde of space demons, but the pain was fading fast. That was the case whenever I turned into Mega Beast and back again. Something about the transformation process seemed to heal my injuries more quickly, whether it was massing up to Mega Beast, or massing down to normal size like now. I suspected my rings knew to repair me during the size transition instead of sustaining the injuries. That actually made a certain kind of sense when you thought about it. Perhaps the very process of massing up to Mega Beast the first time had required the ring to create a complete copy my body plan on a cellular level — and store it permanently — before enlarging me. That
