well. I’d fly back to New York every week for one day, when I had back-to-back scheduling for all the clients who didn’t want to do online sessions. I was getting used to this new way of working and living, and of course I knew it was all temporary, while they were still having concerts. I hadn’t gone back to the tourist agency yet. Maybe one day, but for right now, I didn’t even miss them.

Brayden put an arm around my waist, kissing my cheek. “You’re very good at teasing over the phone too.”

“I agree,” Ian said.

“Yes, but some things work better face-to-face,” I said.

Ian sighed, patting Dylan’s back. “I think we need more single friends. This lot is starting to scare me.”

The chefs called out several dishes at the same time, and the group disbanded as everyone picked up theirs. Brayden had ordered a clam chowder that made my mouth water.

He caught me glancing at his plate as we sat down at one of the tables.

“Yes, we can share it,” he said with a chuckle.

I smiled sheepishly. “Thanks.”

“Happy wife, happy life.”

I was sitting in his lap for no reason. There were plenty of chairs, but I just liked it here, and he wasn’t complaining.

“I like how you adopted that motto even though we’re not even married yet.”

Tess joined us with a plate of burger and salad. Her hair was braided beautifully on one side, but she pushed it on her back, coming closer to the table.

“Cheers,” she exclaimed, and we clinked our glasses of champagne. She’d always been a bubbly, happy person, but ever since she got together with her fiancé, who looked at her as if she walked on water, she was even more radiant.

“I’m so happy that both sets of parents could fly in,” she said.

“Yeah, they’re getting along well.” They were all sitting together at a table. “Think they’re still talking about Ian and Dylan?”

“It’s possible,” Tess agreed. “I think the poor guys are getting afraid to be around us.”

I looked over at my brothers, who were sitting together at a table with Cole and Laney.

“Oh, let me take a picture of you two,” Tess said. “You look so cute.”

“Yes, do that. My cousins did say they want as many pictures as possible,” Brayden said.

I debated moving off his lap, then decided not to and wrapped my arms around his neck.

She tapped the screen of her phone a few times, then looked over it.

“Ian,” she scolded with a laugh. Looking upward, I caught my brother photobombing us.

“What? I just want to be included,” he said innocently. “I’ll behave. I promise.”

Oh, how I’d missed these little moments in the years when we were scattered all over the country. I was so glad we were all in New York. I moved here because it had always been a dream of mine, and of course I’d hoped to fall in love, but I never imagined it could feel like this. I hoped my brothers would find this kind of happiness too. I thought Dylan might be ready to open himself up again soon. My brother was fierce and loyal to those he cared about. I knew he’d fall head over heels when he met the right one, and I was certain it wouldn’t take long to happen.
