it. You’re trying to decide if I’m a spy.”

“A spy? Why a spy?”

“Everyone always thinks the Devilkin girl is the spy. That’s why nobody wants someone like me guarding the Royal Palace, noooo. So they boot me out of the Royal Kingdom and send me here,” she sneered, “to the ass-end of the planet where I won’t break anything important. Like mirrors.”

“Mirrors?”

“Hello! Because I’m ugly?”

“Huh?”

“They crack when I look at them,” she said, annoyed.

“Wait, for real?”

“No!” she laughed in exasperation.

“Who says you crack them?” I asked innocently.

“Everyone.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes!” she sniffed, miffed at my ignorance.

Me, I was suddenly wondering if she had a devil’s tail and black bat wings under her uniform, because I, like most gamers I knew, harbored a secret devil girl fantasy whether we admitted it publicly or not. But I wasn’t going to ask Syx. She was clearly insecure about her looks. I didn’t want to make her feel worse.

“Trust me,” I said. “You’re gorgeous.”

“Tell them that,” Syx smirked and flicked her yellow-gold eyes at Captain Theia and her Shock Knights, who were hanging out of their gloves-and-boots gold uniforms like it was just another day at The X-rated Office, starring me as Michael Scott. More relevantly, none of the Shock Knights were “Monster” babes like Syx. They were all Normals. That didn’t make them any hotter than Syx, not in my eyes.

“Okay, I will,” I said. “Hey, Theia?”

“Yes, my king?”

“Syx is hot, right?”

“Yes, my king,” Captain Theia said dutifully, clearly agreeing with whatever I said.

“Don’t you agree, Horna?”

“Yes, my king,” Horna tipped her head deferentially, causing her eyeglasses to slide down. She pushed them back up with one finger.

“Skrucking suck ups,” Syx whispered to herself, shook her head in disgust, and glared at me, “Do they say everything you tell them?”

“I don’t tell them to say anything. They’re free to speak their minds. You are too.”

“Really?” Syx smirked in disbelief.

“Really.”

“I won’t get executed?”

“Not while I’m king. Speaking of which, how come you never call me your king?”

“I cut class that day.”

“Which day?” I chuckled.

“The day they taught the other Servs to say it, my king,” she said sarcastically.

I laughed because she was implying every woman who called me her king was a Servus robot. When it came to many of the women around here, especially the Normals who always called me their king, there was some truth to Syx’s accusation.

I said, “What were you doing the day you cut class? You know, when the Servs were learning etiquette?”

“Going to spy school,” she smirked. “Admit it. You think I’m the pirate spy. Same as everyone else.”

“Are you?”

Syx rolled her eyes. “If I knew anyone off-planet who wanted me to spy for them, I’d make them take me off-planet. I wouldn’t stay here. That’s for sure. I hate this place.” Her face suddenly tightened with fear. Just as quick, she smirked it away. “Now I’ve gone and done it. You’re gonna have me executed, right?” She seemed mildly concerned.

“Execute you? Why?”

“For talking skruck about Zalaxia. I don’t care. This place sucks. Execute me. Wherever I end up after I’m dead’ll be better than here.”

“Like I said before, new rules. You don’t get executed for speaking your mind. In fact, I prefer it.”

“Tell that to Colonel Sadys,” Syx said sourly.

“I will.”

“I’ll be counting the minutes,” Syx snickered.

I really liked Syx. Sure, she had looks that killed because she was a hot as hell devil girl, or Devilkin like she’d said, but it wasn’t just that. I liked her too-cool-for-school personality. I said, “When can we—”

“Control to Crown,” a female voice said, the sound emanating from the comm ring attached to my uniform collar. “Are you there, Crown? Out.”

“I’m here, Control,” I said. “Is this Ursa?”

“Yes, my king!” Ursa gushed. “You remembered. Out.”

“Of course I did,” I grinned. “You and me talking is getting to be a regular thing.”

Syx shook her head, smirking disgust and looking around like she wanted to leave.

I held up a finger, signaling her to wait a second, while saying over comms, “What’s up, Ursa?”

“Major Akeso in Medical asked me to inform you that Oia and Venus are asking for you.”

I hadn’t spoken to any of the Bombshells since they’d gone into recovery. They’d been sleeping or on sedatives continuously. I was dying to talk to them and make sure they were feeling okay. I gasped, “They’re awake?!”

“That’s what Major Akeso said,” Ursa replied over comms.

“What about Sirius?” I asked hopefully. I was most worried about her. She’d taken the worst beating by far.

“She didn’t say.”

“And Cygna?”

“Didn’t say.”

“Okay. Thanks. I’ll be right there. Crown out!” I smiled at Corporal Syx.

“Orgy time?” she smirked.

“What?” I chuckled.

“Four women? That’s pretty much an orgy.”

“No, it’s not like that. They’re—” I couldn’t possibly explain the importance of my Bombshells to Syx in ten seconds or less. I owed the Bombshells my literal life several times over. “I need to go check on them. Can I touch base with you later?”

“Don’t bother,” Syx scowled and spun away before strutting into the crowded intersection and walking down another corridor. Again, her strut was defensive, not sexual. But her ass certainly was. And those legs? They went on for days. Sadly, she wasn’t working her assets for me.

I would’ve felt rejected and slightly bummed out if it wasn’t for Horna, Captain Theia, and my “orgy” of Shock Knights hovering behind me. When you had your own erotic entourage following your every step, it was impossible to feel rejected.

As we walked toward Medical, I found myself thinking about Corporal Syx anyway. What was not to like about a hot, rebellious, Devilkin babe? I mean, technically, she was one of the king’s concubines. Last time I checked, I was acting king of this planet, and I had to do something to stave off my survivor’s guilt before it ate me alive. Being eaten alive — in a good way — by a woman like Syx seemed a good place to start…

At that moment, I was grinning to myself, a very big grin, thinking about
