Luckily, Albert hadn't been that talkative after completing the mission, and I'd been able to enjoy a few hours of peace and quiet.
Which meant that it'd only be a matter of time before the noise took over once again. Heading toward the Seline directorate, I smiled to myself in anticipation with a hop in my step.
The Seline directorate was a cozy carpeted room full of hundreds of isolation pods. You were always required to take off your shoes, shower, and change your clothes immediately after entering. They wanted us clean before putting us on the best drug known to man. The room's music was soothing and peaceful, and the walls were animated with different Earth-like nature scenes depending upon the day.
I had been waiting for my Seline infusion from the moment my last mission began. Being able to escape from the clutches of Titan Universal, from my hair-brained neural assistant, and from myself even momentarily was the only thing that kept me feeling human. Seline was a beautiful dream world like no other. It's the only thing that keeps me going as the centuries wear on.
Walking up to the spa-like entryway. Julius, the animated yet calming android attendant, stood at the ready. His eyes were gentle and calm. He looked like a human but was actually a bot manufactured by Titan to keep things in order. There were thousands of them wandering around headquarters. The pleasant soft piano music calmed me by the moment, and it was just what I needed. The walls depicting the gentle tides on a beach somewhere beautiful.
I nodded Julius' way, saying nothing as I usually did. And headed over to meet him at the kiosk where I'd be given my customary towels, robe, and slippers. This was going to be bliss.
"Hello Gloria. It is nice to see you again. You are not listed on today's hibernation manifest." Julius's polite voice and calm eyes looked back at me.
"That doesn't make sense. I'm overdue for hibernation by two assignments." I complained, forgetting that Julius was only a bot who did nothing but relay information.
Albert pinged in.
Albert: Director Icarus has requested you.
