from here, so I look around us instead.

There are tall, thin trees all around with bare branches reaching up to the night sky. Some parts have leftover snow decorating them from the dusting the night before. Jaxon reaches behind us to the back seat and pulls out our sandwiches and drinks. I feel the hot air blasting on me from the vents as we both devour our sandwiches.

Neither of us is paying attention to the movie, so I try to strike up a conversation instead.

โ€œYou okay tonight? You seem a bit off.โ€

He takes a final bite of his sandwich and answers with his mouth full. โ€œIโ€™m good, baby.โ€

I place my hand on his knee. โ€œJaxon, you know you can talk to me, right? It doesnโ€™t always have to be you talking me down. I can help you carry your burdens, too.โ€

He shakes his head and swallows. โ€œYou do help me, baby, but thereโ€™s nothing to carry right now. Yes, life is different now with Emersyn, but Iโ€™ll make it work.โ€

Somehow I know sheโ€™s causing the least of his worries at the moment, but I nod my head. โ€œI just want you to know that I appreciate you, and if you ever need to talk to me about anything that worries you, you can.โ€

His hand squeezes my knee. โ€œNo worries, Nyx. Iโ€™m good.โ€ Jaxon leans over the console and kisses my lips before turning his attention on the movie.

I know heโ€™s lying to me, but I donโ€™t want to argue with him right now. I can sense when heโ€™s distant, drifting off into his worries, trying his hardest to protect me from them.

I donโ€™t want him to feel like he needs to shelter me from everything. I want him to feel like he can be himself with me, even when that means having tough conversations. I canโ€™t help but feel like he handles me with kid gloves sometimes. Always overly aware of my triggers, feelings, and anxiety.

Jaxon bases his entire life around the needs of other people, and although I admire this noble trait, I need him to know Iโ€™m not a child.

I can be someone who helps make him feel better, too.

I can help relieve his stress, even if that stress stems from me.

Iโ€™m not some delicate flower he needs to be afraid of holding too tight for fear Iโ€™ll break.

Not completely anyway.

Jaxon has gotten me through so many of my fears, and I feel itโ€™s only right that I help him get through his in return.

I watch as he rubs the tension in his neck, and a thought hits me.

If I canโ€™t get Jaxon to talk to me, I could relieve his stress in other ways.

He rests his hands behind his head and stares ahead at the miniature movie faintly lighting up the darkness ahead of us.

I remove my hat and glasses as I check myself in the mirror, adjusting the static in my hair. When Iโ€™m satisfied with my appearance, I reach over and place my hand on his thigh. Jaxon continues watching the movie, not giving this familiar gesture a thought.

That is until I slowly slide my fingers up his strong leg. When Iโ€™m inches away from his zipper, I notice Jaxon side-eyeing me with a lifted brow.

He gestures to his groin playfully and asks, โ€œYou need something, Nyx?โ€

Iโ€™m not in a playful mood, though. Iโ€™m in the mood to make a point.

He realizes this quickly when I close the distance and grip his entire package in my hand, gently squeezing it. His hips buck in surprise, and heโ€™s already hardening beneath my hand. Looking around the outside of the car, he places his hand over mine to halt my movements.

โ€œWeโ€™re out in the open, baby.โ€

I tune him out, determined, removing his hand from mine to unbutton his pants.

He takes a deep breath as he places both hands on the steering wheel, gripping it until his knuckles turn white.

Even if this scenario makes me uncomfortable, Iโ€™m willing to endure it if it makes him feel better. But right now, the only thing Iโ€™m really feeling is the urge to taste him. I unzip his pants, and he lifts his hips off the seat as I pull them, along with his briefs, down, and his junk springs free.

He checks the rear-view mirror again and settles back in his seat. Before he can argue again, I reach over to grab him.

He stops me. โ€œSpit on your hand, baby.โ€

I raise an eyebrow at him.

โ€œItโ€™s for lubrication.โ€ He wraps his hand around my wrist and brings my open palm to my face. I stare at him hesitantly as he gives me a silent nod, telling me to do it. I notice Jaxon biting his bottom lip as I bring my face closer to my hand and spit on it. He watches me as I slowly move it towards his erection.

โ€œSpread it around,โ€ he instructs right before my hand reaches him. As he watches me move my hand over his length, the only thing I hear is, โ€œFuuuuuck.โ€

I start with slow, firm strokes. Jaxon rests his head back on the seat, his body already loosening up. He closes his eyes as I pick up my speed a bit, squeezing tighter. A bead of pre-cum forms on his tip, and I swipe my thumb over it.

Curiosity getting the best of me, I bring the finger to my lips to taste it. I open my mouth, feeling the salty flavor of his cum melting against my tongue. Itโ€™s not that bad.

Jaxonโ€™s eyes are on my mouth, watching as I taste him, his breathing heavier now.

I look around outside. Itโ€™s dark and secluded where we are. Anyone who walks back here would definitely need a flashlight, so Iโ€™m sure thereโ€™s nobody around other than the cars in front of us.

Adjusting myself on the seat to face Jaxon, I donโ€™t think about it as I lower my head onto him. He removes one hand from the wheel, giving me the room I need to position myself. I donโ€™t stop
