“I believe in the will of the Universe over the words of a slaver in fear of his own future. Bring your armies. We will be waiting for you,” Jezai said and ended the communication.

The Haven’sscreen switched to the view of the Fystr fleet. The bastards wasted no time in retreating back out of Apochros territory, ruining all of our plans. Even if it made total sense for them to avoid a battle with us for now. I suppose I should be honored that they had finally learnt the lesson not to underestimate us. I put it down to Zarime. He was quite different from any Fystr I’d met so far, and he did genuinely scare me. But they had gone for now, and I had a different situation to deal with. “Wulek! Get Jezai up, now please,” I requested as calmly as I could. He appeared on the screen, standing among other Apochros on his bridge, all focused on me.

“Well?” I asked.

“Don’t be fooled by his words. Zarime is a very manipulative man. The prophecy is open entirely to interpretation. I believe you are here to cleanse rather than destroy and the Apochros as a people desire that same thing. We do not look to lead, and peace created through oppression is no peace at all. While the Fystr are deluded, they are powerful, and if we are to survive a combined onslaught with the Galactic Empire, we must grow more powerful. I do not know how we will achieve this and so it is clear we have only one choice remaining…”

“Alright, Jezai, cut the amateur dramatics and spit it out. What do we need to do?”

“We must follow you, Vakuna,” he said, dropping to one knee, as did his entire crew.

“You fucking bastard!”

I don’t know what these mad bastards are talking about. Follow me! They need their heads looking at. Whatever happens, we’ll have to come up with something pretty impressive. But for now I have a funeral to attend. We’ve lost some good people, but losing Calegg was a serious blow. We’re burying him on Accre, as cremation wasn’t an option. Flowers are being arranged, now all that’s left to do is for you all to send kind thoughts (yes, I am talking about reviews).
