it takes time for him to work things out for himself. Right now, he is trying to hold on to his world and you at the same time."

"How do you know that he will come around?" Kaily felt a little bitterness come through. To her it was so simple. She wanted him; he wanted her, what was the big deal? Aside from sacrificing everything he has ever known. The thought came to the forefront of her mind and she had to look away from Sari. There was a part of Kaily that wanted Moto to make that sacrifice for her, and another part that understood what it meant to lose so much, and she wouldn't wish that pain on anyone, especially him. To be fair, it was not that simple for her either. She wanted to go back home, back to her life, but she suspected that she wouldn't be able to do that either. In a sense, they both would be giving up their worlds for each other.

"I know Moto. He will come around and he'll make the right choice, eventually. On a different topic and let's keep this conversation between ourselves. Do you remember what happened at the training clearing?"

"Why does everyone keep asking me that? No, I don't."

"Everyone?" Sari asked.

"You and Moto." Kaily said.

"I see," Sari smiled.

Kaily glanced down and when she looked back at Sari her smile was gone. There was seriousness to her expression.

"We found you at the center of the clearing and it had been destroyed." Sari said. "The ground was burnt in the entire clearing and some distance away. The trees were down, and you remember how big those trees were, don't you?"

Kaily nodded.

"You know your talisman was fused in the place you hid it, right?" Sari asked.

Kaily nodded again.

"That happens when too much energy passes through the talisman and the destruction comes from strong emotions that are not focused. It comes from a loss of control of one's abilities. It is clear to me that you have great abilities, Kaily, more than you are even aware of and more than you can accept at the moment." Sari shook her head. "I see the doubt in your face, and your denial on the tip of your mind. You have to put that doubt aside for both your and Moto's sake. You have to accept that you do have abilities that you cannot yet comprehend. You have to believe that you are not imaging any of what has happened to you or what you have observed. It is real. It is your reality now. You will learn the truth of my words in time, Kaily, but I'm afraid that your journey is not going to be an easy one. You will need to take all of this on faith, until you come to know it to be true. Moto will try to train you," Sari said, "once he too accepts that you have that much potential."

"You don't think he can." Kaily intended it to be a question, but it came out as a statement. "You don't think he can train me, do you?"

Sari glanced up at the planet above them. "Trust Moto," Sari said, clearly ignoring Kaily's statement and question. "He is your anchor. He will keep you grounded, and as difficult as it may get, know that it will all work out in the end, if you two trust each other."

Kaily gave a short laugh. "How do you know it will all work out?"

Sari smiled at her. "I know Moto and I know enough about you. Together you two can overcome anything." Sari glanced up at the sky. "It'll be dark before too long. We should see what Shimani and Moto are up to. If I know them, and I do," she said glancing at Kaily, "they are wondering where we are." Sari dove into the water and swam to the edge by the clearing.

"Just when I got dried off." Kaily hadn’t thought the drying off thing through, as the ledge was on the far side of the pool and was not connected to the part where the clearing or path was located. She dove in and swam towards the ledge. She climbed out and dressed. Her dress soaked up the moisture that clung to her from the pool and the air cold against her wet skin. She shivered as she followed Sari up the path and back to the cave.

When they entered the cave, they found Moto and Shimani bickering over what they were fixing for the evening repast. Shimani stirred something in a pot over the fire and Moto was in the process of setting out edibles that Kaily only knew a few of the names to on the tabletop. She startled when Sari walked over to Moto and smacked him in the back of the head.

"That's for not talking to Kaily about the ceremony, before the ceremony!" She punched his arm when he ducked and rubbed the back of his head.

"What is that for?" He asked.

"Just because," Sari said.

"Oh, so Sari gets away with smacking you?" Kaily asked. It slipped out before she thought better of it.

Sari turned narrowed eyes on Moto. "You didn't." She said. She made an inarticulate sound and zapped his ass with a small dose of energy.

"Oww." Moto glared down at Sari and rubbed where the energy had hit.

"What was that for?" Shimani asked from where he stirred the pot.

"Nothing!" All three said in unison.

Sari glared at Shimani and held eye contact for a moment longer before turning to Kaily. Shimani smirked and focused his attention back on the contents of the pot over the fire. Sari linked her arm through Kaily's. "Let's see if we can find something warmer for us to change into. It feels a bit cooler here than in the villages, don't you think?"

"Yes." Kaily smiled at her. She followed Sari to a chest and bags near it. She watched with curiosity as Sari rummaged through the bags until she found what
