โI devoured this book, such a page-turner! If a crime has me still debating 'whodunnit' right up to the very end then I'm a happy reader!... I can't recommend this highly enough โ fast-paced and gripping and literally kept me wanting more.โ Goodreads Reviewer, 5 stars
A tenacious young detective with scars both physical and emotional, Beth Young will stop at nothing in her fight for justice for the innocent. Set in the Lake District, it is perfect for fans of Joy Ellis, LJ Ross, and Peter James.
Detective Beth Young has just joined the Cumbrian major crimes team when a body is found posed in a ritualistic manner โ arms spread and graceful wings attached โ at a crumbling castle in the hills of the Lake District.
The entire police force is on red alert. But Beth begins to feel sheโs the only one who can follow the disturbing clues left by the twisted killer. Because she doesnโt think like everyone else. To Beth, crimes are puzzles she can solve. Even if real life is a little harder.
As more bodies are discovered in derelict stately homes across the Lake District, Beth knows sheโs in a race against time.
But the killer is looking for another victim to add to his collectionโฆ Will Beth be able to save her? Or will he get there first?

As for A Body in the Lakes, I feel it was a really interesting story to write as it gave me the chance to explore the idea of someone being framed for a crime they didnโt commit, while also having Beth investigate some cold cases. Both these threads were of course intertwined and, again, I got to take us all on a journey around the beautiful place that is Cumbria and the Lake District.
One of the things I love most about writing Beth is that sheโs pretty much at the start of her police career and has now just embarked on a relationship with Ethan. This gives me so much scope to put her under the microscope so we can all see just what makes her tick. And thatโs before we even mention that after years of looking for him, sheโs finally found the man she called โNeck Kissesโ.
Iโm not going to give you any spoilers, but I will say, I have some really great ideas about where that storyline is going and Iโm looking forward to sharing it with you all in the next DC Beth Young novel.
If youโve loved A Body in the Lakes and are kind enough to leave a review, Iโd be delighted to read it.

Acknowledgements
As always, there are a whole host of people who deserve thanks. Those family members and friends who are closest to me deserve the first mention as without their support and encouragement I would never have had the confidence to pursue my writing ambitions.
Second of all Iโd like to extend a massive thanks to the team at Bookouture. My editor, Isobel Akenhead, improves my writing with every comment, suggestion or critique. The publicity team of Noelle Holten and Kim Nash create a publicity storm for me at every stage with cover reveals and NetGalley releases, and their amazing work on blog tours and blitzes is unparalleled. As for the others, well they just begin at awesome and get better and better.
Iโm fortunate to have a fantastic network of fellow authors, from established stars to those with a head full of aspirations and a blank page. Each of them has encouraged, cajoled and supported me and all deserve my grateful thanks.
Special thanks go to Nigel Adams for his advice on all things fire related, Col Bury for the late-night chats thrashing out plot ideas and all the others whoโve been peppered with questions by an author looking for authenticity.
The blogging community is filled with superstars who support me with blog tours, articles, features and great friendship. Every one of them is valued far beyond their knowledge or my ability to put into words.
Finally, the largest and best group of all is you, dear reader, knowing that people are reading my books and hopefully enjoying them is what makes it all worthwhile for me; after all, without readers, Iโm nothing more than a stenographer for the voices in my head.
Thank you all.
