Book
in hand,
on the sand
I sit mindful
of the pounding surf and
the plaintive wailing of seagulls,
juxtaposed with sounds of merry mirthful
laughter from children sifting through sand as they look,
collecting their seashells by the pailful
or playfully chase after the seagulls.
The beach is serene and
I sit mindful,
book in hand--
sit and
look.
Calming the Tempest
Breathing in mindβs tempest
calm wins out bringing rest.
Tempestuous Turmoil Tossed ThoughtsTempestuous
turmoil tossed
thoughts
confound my brain.
Take a step back,
follow the journey
of
my breath.
Feel the sensations
of each
breath.
Quell
the tumultuous tempest
of my
Mind.
Divine Light
From behind
dirty, dingy, dun
colored
clouds
a
Divine Light
breaks through
and
all is serene.
Thoughts LIke Bubbles
Like bubbles in a stream, thoughts
rise to mindβs surface,
undisturbed.
Still PondMind
still as
pond water
in gentle breeze
calm.
Leaves Gently Float Upon a Stream
Leaves Gently Float Upon a Stream
Leaves
gently
float upon
a stream and are
gone.
My thoughts, like those leaves, drift by
my mindβs eye and then
fade away.
Calm
is left
in their wake,
and each breath brings
peace.
Mindful Morning WalkFirst lap
body erect, looking straight ahead
feeling lungs expand
as
dry cool air inhales through nostrils
feeling lungs deflate
as
warm damp air exhales through mouth
gentle breeze
rustles summer emeralds
on tree branches.
Second lap
back aching body hunching over
feeling lungs expand
as
dry cool air inhales through nostrils
feeling lungs deflate
as
warm damp air exhales through mouth
pavement passes before view
gray pebble embedded concrete
alternating with crack spiderwebbed slabs
cool breeze caresses
arms.
While Reading Blake's "The Poison Tree"
While reading Blakeβs βThe Poison Treeβ
a realization strikes me:
all our anger, held within,
is like a deadly poison
filling, blackening the soul.
So, take heed, make this your goal:
speak your anger, and in the end
of your foe you can make a friend.
Darkness into LightBesieged
by inner darkness.
Drawn, pulled, dragged
down
into the darkness.
Rage defiance
at the darkness!
Take a cleansing
breath,
contemplate the blessΓ©d Light.
Draw, invite, welcome
the blessΓ©d light.
Embrace
the blessΓ©d
Light.
